Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We needed somewhere cheap to stay for a few nights while we attended a concert. I found the owners very stingy when it came to kitchen utensils. The room we stayed in only had one bowl which means my boyfriend and I had to take turns eating breakfast. Also the beds weren't very comfortable to sleep on. One the other hand the rooms were tidy, there wasn't too much noise considering the location and the room came with free Wi-Fi.

My room smelled like a smoker had left 10 minutes ago, there's no where to work, facilities and furnishings are dated and not thought out, heating is very basic, the sofa was uncomfortable, no iron. Definitely not a place to stay if you're in town for work.

Expressed my concerns to staff. They apologised but didnt offer any reparation, just a sorry. I paid 140pn to stay here. Definitely not worth the price. There are mould stains in the bathroom and a hole in the ceiling where the light fixture is. Paint falling from the ceiling. Dust everywhere and cobwebs in the kitchen. Dirty fans with the blades and guards covered in dirt/dust and the microwave wasnt clean. The bathroom had a 3 in 1 pump bottle for kids to use for washing, hair and hands. Very untidy and underwhelming service/amenities considering the price we paid. Definitely wont be back

There is nothing horrible in this place but nothing spectacular either. I guess this is what you get for the price you paid.
Room is ok.

The toilet does not have a rubbish bin. Bathtub is not clean. It made me hesitant to shower at all.

Location wise is good but anything else, don't expect

We opted for the Mount Wellington Motel because it was close to where we needed to be in Auckland. We booked two double rooms, and were welcomed by Julie who kindly offered us a choice of room locations. We opted for first floor rooms which are furthest from the road and relatively quiet. These are spacious with cathedral ceilings, overhead fans and they offer all the basic motel necessities without too many frills. Beds are super comfortable. Bathrooms are dated but very clean and the water pressure in the shower is fantastic. Shampoo and shower gel are provided. Fresh towels are are supplied daily and bed linen changed every second day. Kitchen equipment, utensils and crockery are very limited. There is a microwave, and small fridge but don't count on doing anything more than heating prepared food. Our room had a kitchen sink, whilst the room next door did not. I consider we received good value for money, and a comfortable stay was made even more pleasant because of the friendly staff.

The motel owner was very friendly. The motel was clean. We stayed in Unit 7 which was quiet as it isn't close to the road. Nice and close to Sylvia Park shopping complex and also Mount Wellington shopping centre also. The shampoo etc in the rooms is very basic. I would take my own. The room was also really warm. We needed the fan going all night.

To be fair to this motel, they are priced at the low end of the market in central Auckland so I was not expecting the Ritz. So I am willing to forgive the lack of amenities, you get what you pay for after all.
BUT, though my expectations were modest, I believe that a motel of ANY budget should be clean, all appliances should be functioning, and the motel owners should speak English to a decent standard. This simply was not the case.

HOWEVER, they allow dogs. This is their only plus point (from a dog lover point of view!) As we were travelling with dogs they were the only motel in Auckland that would allow dogs to stay and still be affordable. This is their only USP. There are other places that allow dogs in Auckland, but often they have to sleep outside tied up/in a kennel or in a special room for extra $s. Now I have seen the state of the rooms I am not surprise of the liberal attitude to allowing dogs in the rooms.

If you don't have pet dogs/giraffes/cats staying with you I wouldn't recommend this place.

I think there must be new owners/management. The room we had on this visit certainly wasn't up to the standard I received approx. 1 1/2 years ago. The clean of the room after the last guest seemed to only consist of a change in linen and vacuum, nothing else. The sink had rubbish in it, a dirty towel from the prior guest was still hanging on the hook in the bathroom, tampon rubbish on the floor, 1/4 roll of toilet paper for the family unit (no spares!?), bench in kitchen area needs a scrub. I wanted to wash out the cups which didn't look clean... But no detergent or cloth/brush! Fan didn't work and the room was stuffy and hot, spa bath jets do not work. Room only had freeview... Not sky in every room as advertised. One bonus... The bed was comfy but that's about it. Definitely better options available for the $159 we paid.

A very basic and I repeat BASIC motel. Checked in late and found there was no hot water and the fan didn't work. The maintenance man came out, could not speak English, tried his best but could not do anything as the controls were broken.

Bed was comfy enough and location was good with shops nearby. All in all, nothing so great,
