We stayed here for 3 nights in March. City towers is a motel or serviced accommodation with all the units being individually owned and managed on site, so you can treat it as a motel. The motel is three storeys high with a large free car park for your car. The units are quite large ( ours was about 70 m2!), clean and very comfortable. Our room had a good sized kitchen, stove, microwave and large fridge. We also had a semi separate living room and bedroom. We walked into Auckland CBD from the motel and via the museum on the domain and it took us about 30 mins. The Grafton train stop is 5 min walk away with regular trains to central Auckland. The bus stop is even closer. Just down the road are great little restaurants and a 15 min walk away is a large supermarket. Wi fi is available for $5 per day. There is a laundry on site. Really can't fault the accommodation or the location. Keep in mind that it is an older motel so there are a few scrapes and scratches here and there but nothing to cause any concern to us. The on site managers are excellent.

Highly enjoyed my stay at City Towers and cannot recommend enough. From the moment of Check In I new I was at the right place. Service was highly satisfactory and the room was like a home away from home. It was great having the convenience of being able to park my car so close to my unit at no additional cost, while having th added peace of security checks throughout the day and night. I would be more than happy to return here again.

I have stayed at City Towers several times and would highly recommend it. Gerard and Natalie, you are great - friendly and helpful. The units are clean, large, plenty of kitchen space and facilities, dining table, couch, comfy bed, extra blankets, lovely courtyard with table and chairs. I've stayed in posh places that don't come close to being as comfortable and spacious. Thank you.

This was booked as our first place to stay in NZ.

Firstly the Staff we great! Everyone I spoke to were friendly and helpful.

The room was not what we thought we had paid for. We were expecting and thought we had booked for a 1 bedroom apartment and ended up getting a studio room. It was small, and I wasn't impressed enough to pay the price they were asking for.

Shower was tiny, toilet leaked within the pipes in the middle of the night.
Kitchen bench space was big, but there was only 2 hot plates and a small kitchen.

Sorry but wasn't impressed.

I wanted somewhere with parking, close to places to eat, and with easy access to the city centre; this ticked all the boxes.

Staff were really friendly and very helpful. The office / reception is only open normal office hours so make sure you let them know if you are planning to arrive outside these.

My room was a large single space for the kitchenette, bed and living area, with a sliding room divider is you wanted to close off the bedroom area. The fixtures and fittings in the room were somewhat past their best. Nothing badly broken but in much need of some TLC.

Kitchen contained a large fridge/freezer, gas hob, microwave, kettle, etc, plus a good selection of pots & pan and enough cutlery & crockery for 4 place settings. It's worth noting that although there is a hob and microwave there is no oven so if you are planning to cook, plan accordingly.

At the rear of the room the patio door opens out to a small balcony. Not a great view but a nice place to enjoy a relaxing breakfast.

No laundry facilities in the room but there is a coin-op washer and dryer on the ground floor, Laundry powder is available from reception.

Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in Newmarket, which is a 5-min away. The return trip may be a little longer as it's a slight uphill walk; nothing too steep apart from the final 20 mtrs or so where the sudden change of gradient is a real killer. From the Newmarket train station it's just one stop and a couple of dollars to get to the city centre.

If you are travelling further afield, the junction for the main Southern Motorway is close by and easy to get to.

Needed to be near to Epsom/Newmarket so ventured out of CBD and stayed a few nights at City Towers.
The Good: Very helpful and pleasant manager (Natalie) who welcomed us despite our arrival on a public holiday. Gave us a 2nd floor corner apartment which was quiet and airy. Location just a five minute walk to Newmarket shops and cinema. Good quality satelite TV, free parking and $5.00 per day wi-fi charges, made the place quite competitive.
The Bad: No iron, ironing board or hairdryer. Meant my wife had a frazzled start to the day. No change of towels over two days.
The Ugly: Very tired furnishings, window slider had snapped off leaving jagged edge. Water spoilage around floor of bathroom had walls rotting. Mirror in bathroom looked as if it had been placed there in 1960. No lock on balcony doors, just handles to keep secure.
Overall: Not bad...but for the money, definiteley not great.

I highly recommend staying at City Towers. Excellent apartments, clean and private, great size, all the cooking facilities you may need. Excellent parking available. I had 6 weeks of treatment at Auckland Hospital and staying at City Towers was a home away from home. Haley is an excellent manager and makes you feel right at home, always really helpful and pleasant. I recommend if you are looking for accommodation in Auckland then this is the place :-)
