Although there were some confusions with the booking they got to understand that it was not my fault and fixed the problem.
Every room said it had a shared bathroom, except for the twin room. I booked the twin room, as it said it had a private bathroom on the Expedia app. Upon check in I discovered it was a shared bathroom- which was horrid, the tap in the toilet didn't work. I called Expedia, they were happy to assist. But the hostel refused to give me a refund. I even showed them the mistake they had made online with labelling the twin room as having its own bathroom. I had booked for 3 nights, and said I would be happy to pay for the first night if they could please refund me for the other 2. They refused. The person at reception was really rude and started talking very loudly about not giving me a refund. I repeatedly said that if I knew it had a shared bathroom. I wouldn't of booked. Additionally there are no blankets and no on-site parking. I had to park around the corner and walk up the hill. Really bad service, really unreasonable and does not have the facilities it clearly says it does online. Disappointing.
The smell was enough to put me off when I walked in: it smelt of dirt and sweat. My room was similarly smelly and also dark and insecure.
I left as soon as I could.

BUT the room I was given doesn't provide anything, just a bed. But I only need was a bed and towel so asked a stuff to give me a big towel. The towel I was given smelled like old man! I left it in the room while I'm away and the whole room smells the towel when I came back...
Also I was bitten by something more than 20 places. I told the owner after checked out by email and she said there's no insects in the room because a couple stayed the room after I left weren't bitten.
I would never stay Freemans Lodge to anyone else.
But was actually disappointed... the room was fine but it constantly stank from the cooking in the kitchen. The kitchen looked clean on first impression but actually discusted me to a point where I did not want to eat there. There was a sign to please leave your shoes in the entrance which as well discusted me-the thought of walking around barefoot or in my socks was so not appealing.... and in general, the place did feel dirty. Also, location is not great. I walked one time to the center of town but the walk was long and thru major streets which made the walk not so appealing - the hostel is actually on the outskirts of the center. The only plus I can think of was the nearby supermarket.... It is not a dump but certainly not a place I would like to come back to. Regarding WIFI - they do have but you need to connect each time which is a bit annoying.
"Avoid room beside the front door of the hostel, except you can stand for a crowd of shoes outside your door room."Read full review
