Detailed Reviews
Great hotel, excellent service, comfortable beds, black out curtains and minimal street noise makes for an ideal weekend away.
However
Our first night we had two females in the next room and you could hear thier conversation word for word. They went out and came home about 11pm to watch videos till 4am. Saturday we had different people next door who watched videos incredibly loud to the point where I banged on the wall at midnight. I was exhausted after not sleeping the night before so eventually fell asleep at 1am. My son rang at 7am and I knew this phonecall would wake up the neighbor but I didn't care.
Amazing place but the walls are paper thin so unless you book an entire floor there will be no privacy or sleep.

Overall, this is a really nice hotel. It's in a good location and is really clean, comfortable and modern. I wish it had parking on site but there is a parking building directly across the road. Just make sure you check in on time, because the hotel has parks assigned to it (at a good price to their guests) and they fill up quickly (if it's not the weekend expect the normal parking pricing to cost you a small fortune).
My best piece of advice: don't book their smallest room unless you are by yourself. My partner and I stayed two nights in such a room and were basically living on top of each other. It was a tight fit. And something odd was the iron provided in the room but no ironing board. Go figure. We'd stay here again but would get a larger room.

I stayed here for work, checked in late and checked out early. Consequently, I didn't use any of the amenities except my room. There is a bar and restaurant attached and the brochure indicates other communal spaces and I would have like more time to explore them. C'est le vie.
The staff were so friendly and welcoming and I was upgraded on arrival (my work colleague wasn't, unfortunately). The room was clean but really quite small with very little space around the bed. Ironically for such a small room, the bed (and toilet) were very high (I am on the short side).
I booked this hotel fir location as my work function was close by and I was a little worried it would be noisy being so close to party central. No noise from the street. I could hear the conversation of the people in the next room, though.
I would stay here again if I needed to be in this part of town and if I was on my own (small room).
Great vibe.

TLDR: no aircon, constant power cuts, paper thin walls..
Where do I start. First off there’s no aircon so the rooms are hot and uncomfortable. There are ducted low speed fans which don’t do much. But the biggest problem is the fact the rooms are on what I believe to be motion sensors or some kind of timers so ALL power turns off every 25 seconds, this is not an exaggeration. This includes the lights, jug, the fan - everything. I stubbed my toes in the dark because the lights turned off while I was walking around, and they wouldn’t turn back on. Showering in the dark due the lights constantly on and off. Good luck making a coffee, showering, watching TV or anything without that being interrupted by constant power cuts which drive you mad. I booked the small room. They look small in the photos but even smaller in person and I felt like I was suffocating, the rooms are tiny so heat up like crazy. The smallest hotel room I’ve ever seen. Also the walls are paper thin so I could hear my neighbours conversations word for word.. even with ear plugs. If there was air con and sound proof walls, I could have put up with the extremely small space. Terrible experience. Don’t even bother with this place.
The Abstract had a lot of potential as they have decorated it very nicely but they have let themselves down. It is also in a dangerous area of Auckland central so you will want to make sure you are back in your room by dark, lots of drunk homeless people around. After my first night of zero sleep due to the heat, stuffiness and neighbours chatting, I complained and had my room kindly upgraded to a larger one, but the same issues remained of constant power cuts and no air con in that room too. At least it was a bit cooler due to being larger and an extra window, also had no neighbours..
The customer service was pretty good. There is no parking on site so you have to park in a carpark building across the road. The food in the restaurant was average but has a beautiful outdoor dining area which was the highlight.

Firstly the bad design of the hotel and court yard if loud the noise travels through the hotel there was only one group there while I was there and was very very loud but then no aircon in the rooms so couldn’t shut window to make quiet (definitely could use some more greenery or sound damping). No air cons only a “bathroom type” ventilation fan in the bedroom which was very noisy but needed to be on due to no aircon and loud courtyard, which would be fine if it sucked air out of the room but it blows air from the courtyard in to the room, so if someone is smoking in the courtyard the whole room ends up smelling like smoke or whatever any one is having to eat down below. Everything in the room is on a sensor, including the power points and room ventilation, which is great for there power bill but isn’t good if you are trying to charge things or air out the room.
Bed is extremely small, I am 6ft and I had to be curled up all night as bed is in a very small spot definitely not a queen or a double bed.
Rooms seem to be unfinished, construction rubbish in the cable trays in the celling, cables dangling down from the trays, un finished and sealed holes in plaster board in rooms, painting issues. Rooms say they have smart tvs which is true but the wifi to the tv is unreliable (not hardwired) and there is no tv connection to the tv so everything is streaming which is unusable use to it being used thru wifi. Paper thin walls can hear every noise from the other rooms, On the two nights we were there there was a guy yelling and screaming all night, and another guy snoring all night, Bad shower pressure, nice soaps tho. Phones in room not working or existing so no way of contacting reception with issues, lack of help form reception, they seem to just sit at the desk in a gaggle and steer everyone down as they walk in and out. Rooms very dusty as they look as they haven’t been properly cleaned since construction, the room is hazy with dust doesn’t help the ventilation blows not sucks. Overall a terrible stay, and not a very nice experience in what is supposed to be a boutique hotel but definitely isn’t living up to its standards that it portrays.

Had two one bedroom rooms for a couple of nights, there was a lot of construction noise from next door but if the windows were closed I could sleep through it.
The layout is well thought out, the rooms are on the small side but great location, very clean and it's a lovely atmosphere. I'd stay again.

My therapist Molly gave me one of the best Thai massage experiences I have ever had. Molly mixed some oils which included the haunting scent of Jasmine and lady of the night - Molly told me that this combination was the most requested by her clients so I asked for that scent.
Molly’s touch was gentle just how i wanted it. The whole experience relaxed me so that i had the best night’s sleep I’d had for months - she was very well informed and the 90 minute treatment was over way too soon. I felt like putty in Molly’s hands. It certainly was like a journey for the body, senses and mind.
From the moment I stepped into the serene haven of the Sa_Ni Spa, I felt an immediate wave of calmness. The air was infused with the delicate aroma of the oils I had chosen. Molly’s healing hands and soft voice transported me to the sun-drenched landscapes of Bangkok and Thailand.
The spa was a perfect blend of elegance and comfort, with plush cushions and warm, inviting hues.
I had the best experience and I would recommend having a treatment with Molly.
As the massage commenced, I was struck by the therapist's expert technique. Combining rhythmic acupressure, deep stretching, and gentle rocking, the massage was both invigorating and deeply relaxing.
The massage ended with a head and shoulder massage that felt like pure bliss to me The therapist’s skilled fingers seemed to melt away all the cares of the day. Afterwards I had a nice peppermint tea as I chatted to the lovely Molly.

Firstly I would like to thank the staff for making my stay a happy one.
I understand the hotel had just opened and there were a few issues, which I am sure they will iron out, for example the service of the rooms.
I was surprised that my sheets weren't changed for the five nights I was there, also it was a bit hit and miss whether I had dry towels or not.
It was the first trip by myself and I so enjoyed the location, the hotel was a great place to return to after my day out adventuring. I can't express how good the food was and how prompt the staff were at making sure I was okay and if I needed anything.
There were a couple of negatives, which took away from my stay.
The first was there was construction going on next door which woke me early every morning, I understand this is something that can occur, but a heads up would have been greatly appreciated. Second I was in a Sleeper Studio and the TV standby light lit up the whole bed nook and I had to throw a towel over the TV the first nighy to try and shut it out. I spoke to staff the next morning and was told to reach up behind the TV and turn it off at the wall...not something I wanted to do every time I wanted to go to sleep.
All in all I had a lovely stay and I would definitely go back there to enjoy another glass of the Ros'e and relax in the Winter Garden!

I stayed here for a couple of nights and loved the location and ambiance of the hotel with its different art pieces. I like the fact it’s got a cosy library/ reading room and a common area that is classy and comfortable for guests and residents to enjoy. I got upgraded to a one bedroom apartment and thought it was really nice a surprise. Very comfy stay with plush pillows and bed. Clean and hygienic. Staff at front desk are amazing, go all the way out to please. Would recommend!

The hotel is very new and it shows in the postive and the negative. While the rooms and facilities are really nice there are some annoying fails in a couple of areas. There are cooking hobs in some of the room but no pots or pans etc. I heard a couple of people raise that ossue at the front desk while I was waiting to check in. They weren't happy. Not an issue for me but I understand it for others. And operating the TVs in the rooms is very difficult. You can't just turn them on and they go - no - a simple set of instructions left in the room would help so much. All that said once they sort out such basic fails they're on to a winner - the facilities are nice, the staff friendly (thanks so much Myra). So I would have rated this place higher had I not been aware of those basic issues.
