We booked the penthouse apartment at the Sebel from Airbnb and it was very nice. Great airy space with stunning views out over Auckland Viaduct. The kitchen was small with a microwave, 2 hob, oven and fridge with a dishwasher too so all the basics. The bedroom was pleasant with a balcony and views too. Nice and private. Also has a parking space included which is a bonus for Auckland. All in all a good stay. The only down points would be the lack of double glazing. Which means it get cool in the evening and there is only an oil heater to warm the place but the concrete floors do help trapping the days heat as the sun floods in. The biggest down could be staying here over a busy summer weekend as the noise from the bars below was evident and we stayed mid week. On saying that Of stay again as it was very nice…
It was an absolute pleasure to recently take to the (International) skies again after having endured so many months of remaining close to home. Although any hotel overseas would have pleased us, our choice of The Sebel in Aukland was a great one. The staff are super friendly and can’t do enough for you and the accommodation was fabulous.....clean and comfortably fit out. We had a lovely balcony with direct views of the harbour. It was lovely to kick back and view the passing parade of people and yachts. Right at the door of the hotel is a fantastic collection of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. The Ferry Terminal is a short walk away. My only tiny criticism is that our room was often not made up until after lunchtime, but that certainly wouldn’t stop me from recommending this friendly, boutique hotel.…
This hotel is in such a great location and access to everything Auckland has to offer is superb! The staff were very great and our room was reasonable. However, it was very dated and could definitely do with a renovation especially for the price point. The room service was great and the restaurants that offer the service were delicious! Would definitely stay again.
One one of the nights we hardly slept - bar and noise across the road - banged on until 3am. Urghhhh. The arrangement that the hotel has with the Giraffe restaurant for breakfast is a complete rip off. Simon needs to revisit that breakfast menu and the prices - in today's difficult times people want value for money - especially when they are paying $20 something for a slice of toast, two hard boiled eggs and some sauce. Not good. The Sebel reception staff - very professional man of Indian descent - honestly, he rocked. The rest - nah. Difficulty in understanding English, confused at times at requests and mucked up a few things. OVERALL - could do better.
We stayed here for a long weekend and felt really at home. Managed to get a car park and the reception staff were very helpful both at the check in (Gloria) and throughout the weekend. Lily made the checkout super easy. The wi fi was a struggle with only one device being able to connect and yes the rooms are tired but we realize that’s not up to the Sebel but the owners of the rooms. However this is a magnificent location and you do feel special. Having use of the Tepid Baths nearby is also excellent. If we can get the right price then we’ll be back but it felt hard to leave as we really felt comfortable there. And a big thanks to the cleaning staff - very polite and attentive. While they’re only working with what they have maybe a refresh of some of the basics like cups and plates would add some X factor to the inside.…
