Rydges Auckland has earned praise for its prime location close to the Sky Tower and local amenities, though nighttime noise can be a concern for some guests. The hotel offers clean and spacious rooms with cozy beds, notwithstanding a few reports of maintenance issues.
Opinions on the service are mixed, with accolades for staff friendliness counterbalanced by some dissatisfaction with customer care. Guests generally appreciate the hotel's cleanliness and thoughtful amenities, even as opinions on value and specific offerings like breakfast vary.

Hotel's Favourite
Stayed here for only one evening, under the Sky Tower. AMAZING hotel for the value! Dinner of lamb and steak was extremely tasty, and the room was spotless, with the most comfortable bed and pillows! Reception was uber friendly and accommodating with our luggage to keep while we took the Waiheke ferry for the day and checked out. The lounge was really loungy and awesome. Would definitely stay here again!

We stayed one night here after disembarking from the QE11 and found the hotel very nice. We had a large room with a bigger than average bed and nice soft pillows.
We had misplaced our toothbrushes and reception staff gave us travel sets immediately. We found we had no milk in the room for tea and after requesting some, it never arrived.
When we checked out and told the staff that we hadnt been able to have a drink they gave us a voucher for free coffees at the in house cafe bar. There is a shuttle service to the airport from this hotel that it much cheaper than a private transfer even if the driver was a Tottenham supporter!!

Thank you tingtagelwizard for your kind comments and review. I am sorry that we did not manage to get the milk into your room ahead of your arrival and certainly after you raised it. I have followed up with the team accordingly, we wish you a safe trip home. Kind Regards, James Billing

Hotel room a good size with a comfortable bed but the view into a quadrangle was not the best. Breakfast buffet had a wide range on offer, if a bit pricey (Auckland prices?). All the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially when we arrived after 30 hours travelling and just wanted our bed! Worth asking the concierge about discounts on tours, etc. Hotel near to sky tower (2-3 minutes), city bus tour (by Sky tower) and harbour (10 minute walk).

By far one of my worst experiences when it comes to accomodation, this is far from being a 4 star hotel. The building is old, the rooms are old, the bathrooms... you guessed it, OLD. Imagine they still have the separation of warm and cold water.
Service pretty much nonexistent, we had to ask for both days to clean our room at 5pm as no one even tried to do so, and only in one occasion we got the BED DONE, the room was never cleaned over the 3 nights booking. The hotel does not have any decent facility, and the only plus is probably one girl at the reception who tried to be as helpful as possible but we all know that one player alone doesn’t win a team game. For $300 a night you can get way better than this

The staff work very hard and are friendly but hotel is badly short of staff. Hotel rooms are not serviced in less requested and even when requested did not happen A 10 $ voucher towards food is given if your room is not cleaned. Food in the restaurant was ok but a bit expensive and once again not enough staff waited for plates to be cleared and dessert menu in the end gave up.

+1
My wife and I had booked a ten-week trip, covering 11 countries, for our 40th anniversary, and New Zealand was the eighth country visited in our trip, where we had booked a 15-day tour of both islands with Travelmarvel by APT. The tour kicked off in Auckland, where we were booked into Rydges and would meet the other travellers on the same trip. This hotel is quite well located, only a one-minute walk to the Sky Tower, if you fancy a panoramic view over the city, and around 5 – 10 minutes to the waterfront and ferry port. We had a nice room, with a good shower and comfortable bed. The room had an iron and ironing board, hair dryer and a large safe for any valuables. Our evening meal was organized by the Tour Operator and the food was fine, with a good selection of wines and beers available from the bar. Breakfast was very good and was served in the same area as our evening meal. Staff were friendly and efficient, especially considering they had to deal with such a large group (40 people) checking in and out around the same time.

First time staying at the Rydges and will definitely not be returning. The staff were very unwelcoming and not helpful and just looked as if they hated their jobs. We had to prompt them when we first arrived as they just stood there until we spoke. Were not helpful with what to do with out car, what time breakfast was and any hotel amenities. Tried to ring room service about 10 times (cant imagine it was very busy at midnight) and had no answer and then had to go down to the lobby myself and ask them for this, once again not welcoming when we went down to order and very blunt towards us. When the food arrived it was cold and had no lid over top of it, such poor service as the man just passed the food over and did not speak and the food was terrible. Once walking up to check out the girl did not greet us we had to speak first and say we were checking out and she just replied with "what is your room number". Then we had to wait 50 minutes for our car as they forgot about it. The staff and poor service definitely ruined the stay for us. I have read quite a few reviews since leaving the hotel as I was not happy with the service and I can see there are so many reviews regarding how unwelcoming and unhelpful the staff are. Definitely going to read reviews more often since this hotels front staff are terrible. Will not be recommending this hotel to anyone.

Perfect for a family of 4 with kids aged 5 and 8 years. Our room faced the Auckland Habour Bridge and had city views. Beds are super comfortable, double sized. Good walk in shower but with gentle water pressure. Smart TV and desk with decent lamp and office chair for working individuals. Mini fridge and tea/coffee/milk provided. Free parking on public roads close by from 6pm - 8am. With Skycity down the road it's central to everything including Britomart and Viaduct. If you sign up to their Priority Guest Rewards you get additional privileges/discounts on room rate and food etc - our checkout was 1pm which was nice not to rush. Didn't quite meet 5 stars as our room wasn't cleaned. There were door tags/signs for passing on house cleaning (and if you advised in advance you'd like to skip this you got a $10 voucher each time you opted for this during your stay). If you want house keeping, you must inform reception in the morning hence no tags/signs for the door asking for house keeping - we know for next time. Our room was Deluxe City View Double Double and would definately stay again.

Staff awesome here, rooms large and comfy. If you are leaving on a cruise you can easily walk to the port takes about 10 minutes all downhill. Lots of shops eating and the skytower easy walking . The views from the upper rooms are fantastic. Great place to stay

Had been a while since our last stay. The young lady who greeted us on arrival at reception was lovely. We were upgraded which was awesome because it was our 22nd Anniversary. Our room was not ready yet but we enjoyed drinks and snacks while waiting so very happy. Loved the seafood chowder later on in the evening. Our room was lovely. We had Harbour views yay.
2 disappointments but possible suggestions:
1. Bathroom was tiny and no shelves to put personal items on. Railing was in front of the toilet no near the sink or shower.
2. Breakfast was not how it use to be. What happened to the chocolate fountain? There were lots of kids and it would have gone down a treat. Scambled eggs were not quite cooked. The cold cuts were not fresh as well as the crossaints and other pastrys. Bacon well overcooked and smoothies, boost shots and milk drinks were gone before we got there the 2nd morning and not topped up again.
An enjoyable stay overall and we got much needed sleep and rest.

They were quite accommodating for us, but you need to check with them!
Yes,there was a kettle. There are tea and coffee making facilities with all ingredients.
They do offer laundry service not sure how it works
We came to this hotel catching a super shuttle from airport and booked that previous night before leaving Auckland. Its quiet cheaper and convinient too.
Hi there - sorry, can't help you. We were only there for 2 nights at the start of our tour of NZ and didn't have time to use the gym.
