Room 706 In 17/4/24 out 20/4/24
I can not fault the friendliest of the staff, the room, the housekeeping, the sauna/spa/pool.
The reason for not giving 5/5 but 4/5 is the package we had included late check out of 12pm. At 10.15am Reception called asking when we were checking out - advised we had late check out for 12 noon, they said thank you. Then at 11.45am housekeeping knocked on the door also asking when we were leaving. We were going to wait another 10 minutes as the shuttle to the airport was booked for 12 noon but felt pressured to leave the room straight away after having a phone call and a knock at the door. That said no other complaints, they were so close to full marks.

Great hotel with good ethical practices
We were very happy to find that our soaps and other amenities were repurposed as this is often a problem at hotels when we aren't staying for a long enough period of time to finish them. The breakfast was enjoyable and also glad to see there were no plastic straws used as well as no plastic water bottles either. The recycling bin next to waste bin was great to see as well, promoting conscious separation of waste. It's good to see a hotel that is taking initiative and doing their part in helping reduce waste. This is a very important factor for me personally and for this reason I would definitely choose to return to Heritage Hotel. One small comment was that while showers had good pressure, they took a very long time to reach an enjoyable temperature which would've wasted a significant amount of water and for a hotel that prides itself in being very sustainable, this could be improved.

Visiting on business this was my first stay at this property. It’s worth knowing there are two properties associated with The Heritage. One is the older renovated building, which in a previous life was a well known Auckland department store, the other is a modern hotel tower, the latter of which I stayed in. This is also important to know if you get dropped off by a taxi, as there is a fairly long walk between the two, along a street, although you can also connect internally.
The rooms in the tower are modern, and mine had a seperate lounge, with great views of Auckland harbour and Docklands, and a pleasant balcony.
There is also a fully stocked kitchen, so it is very easy to buy some breakfast supplies and eat breakfast in your room (or mini apartment).
Staff are friendly although I had a bad experience on arrival when I was told the wrong room. The number of the room (wrong room) was written on my card and I was sent of to someone else’s room, where a pleasant gentleman from Japan opened the door and we spent some time working out what the problem was. Eventually I returned to the front desk and was then given the correct room number. This sort of thing should never happen in a professionally run hotel.
Location is great. You are an easy 5-10 min walk down to the harbour front shops and restaurants, although it’s a little more strenuous walking back up the hill.
All in all a very nice property even if the staff check you in to a room someone is already living in.

The front desk staff in the Hobson Street building seemed pretty friendly and helpful. I also cannot comment what those rooms are like. The staff in the Tower building on Nelson Street were in general sullen, unfriendly and unprofessional, don't think we saw a single smile. If I were the manager I would be doing some serious training. Without getting into long winded rant about it, the staff were rather rude. The carpets in the hallways were the worst I have ever seen in any hotel. The corridors smelled like old must, like in an old bar. We went to walk into our room and there were toenail clippings by the carpet outside our door, sickening. We had no towels in our room and when we called to get some, it took 30mins, which is long when you need a shower and have places to be. Bed linen had holes in the pillow case. All in all this is the price of a much better standard hotel, but really only a 2 star. On the plus side, we could not hear road noise, there was great water pressure in the shower and the location is handy.

Dear HomeInAbag, I would like to offer my sincere apologies for the poor service you experienced from my team during your stay. Clearly what you encountered was well below our usual high standards and is completely unacceptable! It is always our aim to ensure guests enjoy professional service and their expectations are exceeded by our caring innovative style of hospitality, however on this occasion we failed to deliver. You will be happy to know that we are constantly up skilling our staff so that they can offer our guests the most pleasant and enriching experience. Once again, we are sorry and we thank you for bringing this to our attention. Best regards, Adrian Rooms Division Manager

We stayed here in a superior room for two nights, we stayed one night too long if i'm honest.
Firstly the only parking available is valet parking at $45 per night. Upon checking in we were early but luckily our room was ready. The staff member who served us was short and not overly friendly but it was a Friday so maybe she was tired.
Our room was in the hotel wing on the 7th floor and overlooked Hectors the restaurant in the hotel. Our room was large but old, the carpet had a smell about it and the bed head was highly uncomfortable. The bathroom was very dated and the grout in the tiles was coming up, we stepped on it and grazed our feet.
The hotel had creaky floors and carpet that held smells all throughout it. The only highlight was it was soundproofed well and had a great pool on the roof, more seating is needed up there though.
Check-out was easy as we did it early due to our flight changing. The location is not very nice we did not feel very safe walking around too late, very close to the sky tower though which is a plus.
Overall it was very overpriced and we won't be back.

Hospitality is having a tough time therefore locals spending local should be encouraged but my recent experience at The Heritage Auckland fell well below acceptable customer service. Arriving mid-afternoon and paying for Valet parking with instruction to remove luggage from the vehicle and place in room ahead of my wife joining me in the evening. Returning to the hotel at 7pm to join my wife for 7:30pm dinner reservation only to discover no luggage in room, therefore no ability to freshen up or change clothing. Following a lengthy wait on phone to reception, I ventured to lobby and enquired about luggage which apparently was still in the vehicle. My protests was meet with a defiant 'what do you want me to do about it' from the desk staff member. The hotel is quaint and in keeping with the era, some of the staff are also.

We’ve stayed in different hotels in Auckland as we travelled as well from north to south within 16 days, but this was a dissatisfying stay. I booked two queen rooms for 2 couples, upon arrival the check in took quiet long ( e.g. room cards/ records could be prepared in advance as many do...), but ok it was 9pm and we were tired. But as we entered our room we were really disappointed, an old electric oven in a kind of kitchenette- which we didn’t need nor booked, very tiny sleeping room, tiny bed, no mirror at all, bathroom surprisingly huge but so old fashion that it’s painful for your eyes. Also not convenient as it takes ages to get the water temperature stable. We slept in many heritage hotels and we understand that there are constructional restrictions but design and decorations are still possible to ramp up the room. The next problem was actually that our friends beside us had no entree at all, there room was surely 30% smaller and smelling heavily of mould. Air con and water basin were not working properly either.
Of course it was another room offered but not with an apology or sorry or similar.
As we had brunch booked for another day we only took coffee in the lobby which went well the first day, the day of departure unfortunately was simply complicated as it was mentioned that the lobby bar only serves vegan drinks, we are fine with that but alcohol is also not vegan and was served, beside our drinks we got the day before without any problem.
Small issue but annoying as we were offered plastic to go coffee or none.
Sorry but I don’t recommend it, simply not worth the money and there are plenty more options in Auckland.
Pool is nice but no towels are offered at all!
I was instructed by the poolbar man to call the housekeeper in my own.
Bar need also a clean up and would call for professionals.

We booked a deluxe family apartment, which slept 4 (2x Queen beds).
It had a basic kitchen with an oven and cook top. There were enough pots and utensils to make a basic meal. We didn't need this, but it was useful to know for future reference, as I didn't see it in the photos when booking.
The apt itself is showing some age, a little worn around the edges. However, it was very clean, everything was in working order and the beds were super comfy. I also note that the price was outstanding, at about $200 p/n, so I'm taking that into consideration too in my review.
The star feature is that the hotel has BOTH an indoor and outdoor pool and large hot tubs beside each. My kids made full use of this feature, which is hard to get in the city. The staff were pleasant and accommodating to requests at all times.
The only draw back is the hotel is huge and a bit of a maze. It took a map to find the pool!
There is a fabulous little cafe with excellent coffee opposite the hotel called around the corner cage, where my children's fussy needs were generously catered too.
If u are staying Oct 2020 Wilsons are doing free weekend parking if you download the park mate app. There are 2x Wilson parking venues within a block.

Great location for our two day stay in the city. Having stayed here before we are aware of the good and the not so good. Plenty of space and a very comfy bed are priorities for us. Tick. Downside is that it’s starting to get tired. The carpet is thread bare (room 731) and the cream painted walls are dull. A friend stayed in another apartment which was Airbnb and it was freshly painted white with modern furniture and furnishings. Much nicer - and cheaper! At least we didn’t get hacked via their public wifi this time. That’s a plus!

I do not know if there is a shuttle bus. We used the SkyBus. The SkyBus runs every 15 mins or so and takes about 45mins each way.
Hi, depends on your taste and if you appreciate older style buildings. The tower rooms didn't appeal to me seem as they just look like most standard hotel rooms. The main building is more art deco and had a more appealing decor to me. It is also easy access to Hector's restaurant and the lobby bar area.
The suite we booked gave us a surprising amount of space with separate bedroom, bathroom, lounge area, dining area and kitchenette. Great for when you just want to relax with a drink and some supper after a long day sightseeing.
So I guess it will come down to what you want in a space - the main building really did it for us :)
Hi there yes they do, it’s between $40-50. fantastic service.
