At Grand Millennium Auckland, guests have praised the spacious rooms, heated pool, and prime location near theaters and shopping. However, opinions diverge when it comes to the amenities and decor, which some find to be outdated, and the service, which can vary from friendly and efficient to slow and disorganized. While the atmosphere gets compliments for its modernity and cleanliness, travelers often feel that the hotel falls short on value, pointing to costly extras and the pricey breakfast as downsides.

This is a classy hotel. The staff go out of their way to assist in anything you ask.

Check in and out was seamless. The rooms are cleane, bed comfortable, bathroom clean.

The hotel is centrally located in that you can walk to restaurants or the shopping district or the ferry .

Breakfast was great with many hot and cold choices.

This is the place to stay when you were in Auckland.

This is a hotel built to impress! The car park is spacious but there is a charge which is OK. You can access the reception area via the car park and the impression as you walk into the very open space is WOW! The central area where breakfast is served also has a bar and you can look down on all of this from the landing outside the rooms. It is a long drop!

Breakfast was very nice and there was lots to choose from. The beds were comfortable and the Air Con was OK. The shower was FAB and all the little touches were appreciated. We were invited into a member's room where breakfast was laid out very temptingly and also upon our arrival there were canapes which our companion Tony Ted really enjoyed while overlooking the Sky Tower.

My son and I went for a walk in the evening and the hotel is situated in a very pleasant area with a square across the road where an event was about to be held but we didn't have time to stay unfortunately.

It was a little bit of hassle getting out of the car park as the code we had been given didn't work so it took about five or ten minutes to sort that out but on the whole we had a lovely stay.

The Good : For me the best location in Auckland. Very quiet area right in the middle of the City. The rooms are big for the average and has all the amenities you'll need it also has huge full windows that provides natural lights and nice views. The bed is one of the most comfortable bed you wont want to get out of it. The must is that it is a very clean hotel. The cleaning department does a great job. From the common areas to the rooms They do keep this place very clean. The food is really good there. They do have so many options. Breakfast is average but very good and fresh. Japanese restaurant is one of the best and They also have a very good buffet. They also have a "Dans le noir" restaurant worth for the experience. 99% of the staff are really nice and helpful. The cleaning ladies are my favorite. They would say "Hi" all the time and always ask you if you need anything and They Will keep your room always fresh. The restaurants, the bar and the room service staff was also very nice and professional. They all made my stay very comfortable and made sure I get the best experience.

The Bad : Some of the staff are not nice and not professional at all especially at the front Desk.

I definitely recommande this hotel. Just avoid the bad staff at front Desk and you Will love your stay with the 99% other staff that are very nice helpful and professional.

I think there's probably better hotel options in Auckland for a comparable or lower price.
Out of a 4 night stay, housekeeping staff forgot to clean room one day. When I called to request fresh towels, the housekeeper who I assume was responsible for my room and who delivered the towels seemed to have a grudge against me and conveyed a rude attitude about the situation. Location was convenient (15-20 minutes walks) to theater, shopping, harbors, and food options. Water pressure and hot water was good. Room was quite large. Room and amenities/decor are quite dated. Besides the housekeeping incident, the stay was average.

Our stay had the potential for a 5 star rating. The room was very good and the breakfast was excellent. Reception services and housekeeping services left much to be desired.

On our arrival after 30 hours flying with connections from the UK the welcoming receptionist took an inordinate amount of time checking then disappearing from the front desk and returning without explanation. My wife who is generally very tolerant was increasingly frustrated by all the apparent time wasting and poor time management. By contrast another guest arrived after us was processed in quick time and departed for their room leaving us there for some additional time.

14 January we returned to our room to find it had not been cleaned, bed made etc. We advised reception, no apology but offered to arrange for that service then - which we declined as we wished to retire for the evening. We assumed wrongly that this shortcoming would as a matter of course be remedied next day. Not so! We returned to our room on 15 January to find yet again the room had not been cleaned and the bed made for a second consecutive day. We again went to reception, no apology as before, and asked if we had displayed a card requesting that the room was not to be cleaned and bed made up. We found this to be insulting bearing in mind our experience to date. There was obviously no knowledge of our previous day’s inadequate service and an accusatorial tone of our connivance in this matter rather than a very fulsome apology.

Overall this is not the standard of service we expected and paid for. In contrast the receptionist on the 16 January day of departure was very pleasant professional and efficient.

In summary there was a disconnect between reception and housekeeping and an efficiency and attitude problem in reception.

Whilst the service from reception staff was very good the standard of the service at the bar was average. At one stage I had to wait a good 10 minutes for someone to turn up and serve me and the bar staff were very slow.

I only had the buffet breakfast once due to the poor standard. It was cold, the coffee was like tar and the experience was definitely not value for money.

The plumbing system in my room was well below standard for a hotel of this caliber. One should not have to flush the toilet 2 - 3 times to clear it before it is acceptable for the next person to use it. The shower was pathetic, great pressure for HOT water but when mixed to an acceptable level for showering the pressure was barely minimal. Fortunately, I don't have hair but if my wife had of been with me, washing her hair would have been a nightmare.

We stayed two nights during the Rugby cup, so the hotel was probably at capacity. The hotel is very central, easyvwalk to down town. The room was clean and the bathroom was spacious. . Dinner was pleasant but be warned, the wine selection is not great and all of them are expensive. Breakfast buffet was excellent, an extensive range of both hot and cold with Barista made coffee. The hotel is variously advertised as 4 to 4.5 star. The foyer and bar level are new. However...the rooms are quite dated and shabby, lots of paint kicks. The lighting is very poor..the curtains need to be opened, which then cancels your privacy. There are no towel hangers. There are only 2 coffee/tea cups and two spoons..no saucers so if you want more than one drink you have to wash them. The air-conditioning/ heating is impossible to adjust. ( and no in room instructions) One of the 3 guest lifts was out of service for 24 hrs. There was not enough seating in the brasserie..consider 8 tour buses of guests trying to get breakfast and check out by 8am. And finally in which alternate reality does housekeeping not make the bed? They could prove fresh towels, wash the cups, restock the coffee/tea and empty the bins, but apparently are so short-staffed they can't make beds. Could do much better.

Kunnon löylyt! I stay at the Millennium any change I get just to enjoy the sauna and pool. What they have is as close as you can get to a genuine Finnish sauna: proper heat (80+ deg C), bucket of water is there for throwing on the rocks for steam, it’s inside the segregated change rooms so you don’t worry about wearing a swimsuit or anything. The pool is a perfect temperature for refreshing cool off not too cold not too warm.
I would probably give the restaurant a miss next time, and instead find something delicious and a lot cheaper somewhere outside nearby, though service was enthusiastic, helpful and excellently timed.
My room was great: very clean, robe and slippers, nicely appointed bathroom, really comfortable bed.

We stayed in a superior king room for 4 nights upon arrival in New Zealand. It’s in a great location, within walking distance of many restaurants and attractions at the harbor. We don’t recommend staying here if you need to drive, as navigating this part of Auckland is awful with all of the construction and blocked streets. However, the hotel parking garage is convenient if you do drive. NZ$25 for 24 hours.

Our room was spotlessly clean and the king bed was great. The room was small (for a superior room) but the bathroom was large and very nice. Lightning in the main room was poor, and it could have used a dresser and another table. The dry bar and refrigerator were handy.

Breakfast at the brassiere was plentiful if you have a healthy appetite, otherwise it’s overpriced. The brassiere is VERY noisy in the morning. The bar at the hotel is handy and the drinks reasonably priced.

All the hotel staff were great and very friendly and helpful….don’t be afraid to ask for anything!

We arrived into Auckland and had an easy transfer to the hotel. The lovely lady at Reception (Neha), found a room for us - we'd booked throughTrailfinders - so after a long flight, it was a quick change and off to explore Auckland.
Neha gave us a map and some recommendations and off we went exploring.
The first night was just finer, breakfast okay but watch out for the cable on the floor by the hot water urn!
The room had not been serviced when we got back at 8pm on the second day, so we asked at Reception and were told we could have fresh towels but that housekeeping finished at 8pm.
Exactly the same the next night! Back to reception, terribly sorry etc etc, short of staff, would we like fresh towels? No actually, we'd like to have the service that we have already paid for!
If you are short of staff and struggling to service the rooms, be upfront about it and say so.
To add to it all, just as we were packing to leave on the last morning, there was a knock on the door from housekeeping asking if we were leaving soon as she needed to clean the room..... unbelievable.
They did comp the bar meal we had the previous evening while some fictitious housekeeper serviced the room (all we got were yet more fresh towels and the bin emptied).
Really not good enough for a supposedly 4star hotel, and the reception staff are taking the brunt of it with guest complaints. That said when someone on reception says they will phone you shortly and don't (Kyle) then guests get frustrated.

Dear JulieMacB Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate the detail you have given us. We face a resourcing shortage that is shared by many hotels. A property of our size does struggles when we are and high occupancy and with extra staff sickness this does proving challenging for us. I don't believe any hotels in NZ is in a strong position to offer daily housekeeping every day to their guests. Some days we have the capability to service all rooms and some days we cannot. I don't believe many hotels are in a position to provide the star rating service as they once did pre-2020. In NZ the hotel industry conducted a mass redundancy and became MIQ facilities. Since opening for public sale in June 2022 we have struggled to recruit at pace. We continue to rebuild and hire great people but this will take time. I appreciate this doesn't make up for your bad experience with us and I offer my sincerest apologies. I will share your feedback back with housekeeping especially around the staff member entering your room prior to your departure - that is not acceptable. I also would like to acknowledge Neha/Kyle who do a fantastic job with us. I appreciate their efforts and frustrations when they have no control over the housekeeping shortage. Again, my apologies for the bad experience with us and I trust everything else was pleasant for you. Kind Regards Steven - GMA
