Nestled in a prime location, Hilton Auckland is often celebrated for its accessibility to ferries, shops, and eateries, though the bustling area can sometimes lead to noise concerns. The harbor views from the rooms are a highlight for guests, but opinions on the rooms are divided, with some criticism directed at their cleanliness and outdated aspects. While the atmosphere is generally regarded as stylish and comfortable, the hotel's value is questioned due to extra charges and inconsistent service. Reviews also reflect mixed experiences with the hotel's cleanliness and staff attentiveness.

We had an amazing time at the Hilton Auckland. Great breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice and great food. We don’t usually like continental breakfasts, but this one is outstanding. The hostess, Katelyn remembered our drink preferences by the third day. We loved the view of the harbor and sunrise coming in the window.

Let's stop over at the Hilton on the way to Waiheke says my partner. Have you seen the price says I. She says think of the view and luxury. OK loo ki I say. So we book a room, deluxe balcony view, fantastic. The welcome is great, the concierge are friendly and welcoming, bags delivered to the room. Great size, room, very comfortable bed, quality linen. View is great, the ferries coming and going and the nightlights are wonderful. The ferry horns are very muted, great sound reduction. Excellent toiletries, quality Dilmah tea. Friendly helpful staff. That's the good stuff. Here is the things that it appears Hilton Auckland should consider with domestic tourism being the majority patronage. 5.00 for a can of coke, get wrecked. As to the wine beer or liquor, out of my league. No ice for water, UHT milk capsules, (they just don't taste the same) Nescafe machine(much rather have decent plunger if instant). The kicker was WiFi. 15.00 for access in your room! Really!! We were out for dinner at the Americas Cup Village however breakfast might have been on the menu if we could find one, the days of Valentine style buffets are not for me, fresh cooked eggs bene, how much? Couldn't tell no info. Here is the kicker. Valet parking, great, lovely warm heated staff but 45.00 bleeding dollars hells teeth. I could eat for a week at that price. Gordon bleeding Bennett. Cmon, haven't you heard internal tourism is hard. Parking and Internet and marketing aside the place was a bloody nice stay.

My work colleagues treated myself and partner to 2 nights stay for my birthday.
We utilised valet parking on arrival which was seemless as was our departure, including collection and loading our luggage into the car.
As Hilton Honor members this was recognised and we paid for an upgrade which was well worth it, to a Bow suite on 4th floor, amazing and although pricey, worth every cent in our opinion.
We were treated to celebratory champagne in the bar for my birthday, which was very appreciated.
We never used the restaurant as we aren't fish lovers, however we did eat in the bar from the room service menu on our first night after a show and the food was delicious with good portion size and service.
From beginning to end of our stay, we were extremely pleased and glad to have found a true 5 star hotel in Auckland. Being an IHG ambassador member my loyalty has been mainly with them over recent years, however this stay has reminded me of the quality Hilton consistently provide when they get it right as they have here.
Well done Hilton Auckland and thankyou, we'll be back.

When we (my partner and our infant and toddler) arrived at the hotel we were greeted at the entrance by the security guard who was very friendly and made us feel welcomed, he helped us get our bags out of our car and greeted us with smiles and made conversation with us.

The staff at the reception were very friendly and polite. We got a free early check-in at 10am and a free upgrade to a room with a harbour view which we did not expect but made us feel very grateful.

We requested a cot at check-in and when we got to our room it was all ready and set up.

The room was spacious and very clean

Comfy beds and pillows

Absolutely loved the bathroom with a huge shower and bathtub

Amazing views from our balcony

The tv had a great selection of channels to choose from, we watched a few movies during our stay

The gym was so awesome but the pool was very small but didn't bother us as it was too cold to be swimming

We had dinner at the Bellini Bar and the food was spectacular, we ordered food and drinks and it was delicious , great presentation too.

We also ordered dessert from the inroom dinning menu and the service was quick and the dessert was very tasty.

We had the buffet breakfast at FISH restaurant in the morning and we were very happy with the selection, the food was well prepared and there was a huge selection of food .

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, everything about the Hilton Auckland was spot on. Excellent service from the staff, very clean and spacious rooms and the service is definitely worthy of their 5 stars. Definitely will be back.

We were meeting up with friends from L.A. and decided on the Hilton because of all the reviews I had read. And I am a Sofitel fan, so was originally planning to go there. But after seeing the reviews, looking at the location and the rooms, decided on the Hilton. Love the sliding doors that give you a full view of the harbour and out to sea - a deluxe harbour view room. We had room 717 and yes, there was a cruise ship there - the Regent, that looked to be a smaller ship. But the view skimmed the end of the ship and then it was clear to Devonport. And the ship departed at 7pm, so we had an unobstructed view after that. We signed up for breakfast and everything tasted pretty fresh for a buffet. You could get eggs cooked to order, and I did. Lovely setting for the restaurant. We had dinner there with our friends who have a 6-month old. They kindly put us away from the main diners so we wouldn’t disturb anyone. We were lucky as the baby was well behaved, happy and not noisy. We had a nice, relaxing dinner in a quiet dining room with good food.
We enjoyed the hotel and atmosphere here at the Viaduct so much, that we decided to return for another 2 nights at the end of our stay. I thought it should be a regular place to meet up with our friends from California!

Kia Ora kozkan Thank you for sharing a review on TripAdvisor and delighted that you enjoyed your time with us indulging in the Hilton experience in the 'City of Sails'. The views across the harbour and back to the city centre are without a doubt, some of the best in Auckland. Unsure why this hotel gets the high ratings it does. After staying at the Hilton Lake Taupo which was fantastic I reluctantly rolled the dice on this one and it reminded me why I avoid Hilton Hotels.

Booked online with a Harbour view we arrived only by chance to find out from the valet guy that a cruise ship was set to arrive at 6am the following morning. As I checked in this was confirmed so I asked to move room as to not be woken up at 6am & not have a view. Reluctantly they moved our room & when I asked to have a bed put in the room for our 5.5 year old daughter they then told me there would be an additional charge for this on top of the $45/night valet fee for parking.

Our room was old, small & rather tatty. We of course now had no view other than of the apartments on the other-side of the street. The cruise ship docked at 6am and then completely obscured the view for the next 24 hours not to mention the 3,800 people that then disembarked only to jump on one of 50 coaches lined up along the pier. You can imagine the noise.

The swimming pool was small and fairly unpractical. The whole reason for booking this hotel had been for the views & the pool - both of which failed.

In terms of value for money you can get better hotels which are more comfortable with bigger rooms in the city so I would recommend that you shop around - M Social was far better value for money than the Hilton.

As a loyal Hilton patron, my husband is Diamond, we have stayed at many Hiltons, some as awesome, some awful. This was neither, The check in process was easy, we arrived early and our room wasn’t ready, so we were given a key to utilize the gym showers and changing rooms(we just arrived from a 14 hr flight) so that was appreciated. Although, I will say there are 2 single rooms with small shower and changing area. Since I was in one and my husband in another, I was self conscious because the guests working out in the gym would not have a bathroom or a place for them to shower. We had a few drinks outside from the main bar. Service was excellent and the drinks were good. No issues with payment or service. We got our room about 330pm and the view was great (of the pier and the cruise ship of the day) Room could use some updating, Nothing stood out good or bad. I will say the included breakfast was fantastic. A great variety of American and local food was represented. Fresh and plentiful. Hotel was decorated beautifully for the holidays and the door staff was absolutely the best We’ve experienced in a long time, I wish I remembered their names, but their service was always very helpful. This hotel was very close to the pier, the cruise ships great restaurants, bars and a variety of shopping. I would recommend this hotel, ask for a harbor view and we did not experience any additional noise when passengers disembarked

I stayed at hotel for 4 nights. What Hilton doesn’t tell you is that in summer months cruise ships e.g. QE2 and similar dock alongside hotel on a regular basis. So no water view and noise from dawn onwards from ship engines. Hotel sent me email a few days before whilst I was on my Sing Air flight to warn me “may “be no view from room. “May” is completely misleading since only view from room or balcony on the 7th floor was a huge cruise ship 20 feet away from window of room. Besides significant engine noise and no view it also meant you couldn’t open curtains if you wanted any privacy. Like being in a prison. Hotel offered to move me to non ocean facing street view room but that was not what I booked plus i didn’t want the hassle of repacking After a 24 hr flight from Zurich all I wanted was a good nights sleep. Imagine a hotel which can’t even provide that basic requirement. In the space of 4 days there were 2 cruise ships parked next to the hotel. Comically when I did open the curtain to see what the noise was, I did have the “honour” of seeing an elderly woman in her cabin half naked so maybe that is what they mean by hotel with great views. I am a Hilton diamond member but I am afraid my loyalty has gone. Thankfully in March I understand that the new Park Hyatt hotel which is also on the water will open. Finally when I queried situation with staff all you get is a blanked eyed look - presumably they either embarrassed or simply incompetent.

Kia Ora UKHANOVER Thank you for taking the time to share a review on TripAdvisor following your recent stay during the summer months in New Zealand. Noting your overall comments, please accept my sincere apologies that on this occasion your stay fell below expectation and inconvenience you mention with cruise ship docking. The hotel does endeavour to inform all of our guests when there will be cruise ships in port prior to arrival. Unfortunately, this is sometimes not possible given the booking channel used and the availability of contact details at the time of reservation. Your feedback is certainly taken on-board and has been reviewed with the team internally. We were delighted with our second floor Bow Suite and the large terrace which afforded a gorgeous view of Auckland's harbour; although the two sun loungers placed on the terrace would be admirably complimented with the addition of a table and chairs given the vast space available. The bed was comfortable, the sofa was the perfect place to relax, the marble bathroom both stylish and scrupulously clean and the addition of a 'proper' desk was welcomed. The concierge service was flawless in arranging disability aids for my father (thank you, Vineet) and the reception desk interactions were friendly. The room service attendants were fabulous, particularly Alex, and the breakfast service was efficient (although the surcharge of $5.00 for a 'barista coffee' seemed mean and outdated). This property would have been rated as 'excellent' had we not been made to feel like criminals on our second morning. We received a hand delivered note requesting our presence at the front desk to authorise a further amount on our credit card. Whilst we had no issue with providing a further authorisation, the manner and tone in which it was done left a lot to be desired. It was explained to us that any room charges over $500.00 require a further credit card authority but it would be far more polite to point to this policy upon check-in. Having stayed at five star hotels around the world over thirty years or so, this request for further authorisation was a first for us and did make us feel less than welcomed, particularly as we had paid upfront for our suite. Whilst we understand the policy, a polite reference when the initial credit card authority was taken and not in a written command to attend reception would have been appreciated.

Sadly your experience at this beautiful hotel on the water will depend on whether you have the bad fortune of staying at the same time as a cruise ship pulls into the terminal adjacent to the hotel. Do not pay extra for the deluxe harbor view unless the hotel can confirm your view will not be fully blocked by a ship parked immediately by your balcony. All deluxe harbor view rooms are fully blocked by ships which are only about 40 feet away. Shame on the Hilton for not discounting the rates to these rooms or providing full explanation before booking. It has the complete calendar of cruising for the season. A note the day before to the room or to your email does not cut it. Photos below to show the difference in views from our room. When no ship is immediately next to the hotel, it is a lovely space.

There is an excellent breakfast buffet, with smoked salmon, some delicious and healthy breads, and eggs cooked in any style you wish. We stayed at the Hilton Auckland twice and ate breakfast daily on both visits. And the view is wonderful over the bay
