Dilworth Motel is on Great South Road and close to Newmarket. Being so close to the Greenlane supermarket makes it easy to stock up on essentials and the units have full cooking facilities. Very welcoming hosts willing to go "the extra mile" in ordering taxis and the like. Very reasonably priced and have not sky-rocketed their prices like other competitors. Great value for money and centrally located is a sure winner for me.

Hi,

I and my mum stayed in thhe motel for three nights when she came to new Zealand .
This is the only motel I could find within my budget as I wanted to spend more cash on experiences than stay.
I was really worried when I first booked the motel . It was 110 for a night which is really cheap as per auckland rates.
The first impression wasn't great . There are i think two rooms on an upper level the stairs are not to long but are windy may be around 15 to 20 steps. So if you are going to have big bags or can't climb make sure you mention that while booking .
The room is really basic . But like I said I needed to save some money so this was my best option. We were out most of the day , left In the morning and returned in the evening so it didn't really bother me .
There is a small wall heater in the room. The motel was sufficient and all I needed for the three nights . The location is definitely great . 10 mins to sylvia park mall, 15 mins to the city, 25 mins to the airport , and pretty much 25 to 30 mins to go towards any other direction.
If you are looking for a bed and a great location within a small budget , you may not mind this one.

To Mr Kim ( The owner of the Motel ) ,

Good day to you.

We stayed in the room of number 7. When we reached the reception counter , Mr Kim personally welcomes us and we have a long nice chat.

This is our second visit to this motel. Our first visit was on the year of 2013.

To us , everything is still remain the same. The room is big , spacious and very clean , the beds are comfortable and the bath room is very clean. We have no further complain of that.

Each time , when we leave the room and go outside , Mr Kim will clean up the room in the most tidiest way. Let's put it this way : We are like staying in our own house and Mr.Kim is alike our family members who is there for us and take care three of us from A to Z during our stays.

Of course , there is a little flaw of the beauty for this motel. This is our humble view : If Mr.Kim could refurbish the motel by replacing the floor carpet , this motel would hit the high ranking remarks in the trip advisor website. This is solely our humble suggestion.

We choose this motel not only because the room fare is reasonable , but , it is also due to the prefect strategic of its location. Also , it is closed to the NewMarket mall and Parnell area.

Mr. Kim , it is our pleasure to stay in your motel. We are truly appreciate your warm treatment.

In the future , if we ever visit Auckland again , we would pay you a visit and stay in your lovely motel.

Many thanks for everything.

Warmest regards,

Brandon , Teh KC and Claire.

I have just stayed here on a business trip. I would never return. Very dated room, kitchen run down and not clean with bars on the window, stained carpets, very grubby net curtains. All linen and bathroom towels were clean, but generally the place was well below par. Owners friendly and welcoming.

Admittedly this was about location and cost, and the Dilworth meets both well.
The place is tired, in desperate need of at least a coat of paint and carpet cleaning,
Although superficially clean, deep down this place is borderline acceptable. The carpet in my room felt like it hasn't seen any care for decades; a clean would do it a power of good, but judging on age might actually cause it to disintegrate. The top of the microwave looked like it hadn't seen a cloth in years. Bathroom acceptable, bedroom, again acceptable just - if you don't look too hard, under the bed was not a pleasant experience, best left undisturbed, like it appears to have been for years.
If you're expecting service, don't be disappointed at the lack of it, bed was not made simply pulled straight, dishes left - so wash them yourself to be safe - bin not emptied, the barest minimum management could get away with.
With a little more effort and consideration of guests the Dilworth could go from poor to good, the impression is that the management couldn't really care, as long as you pay up front then there is no issue from their side. You, on the other hand, might have a different opinion of the attitude.
The motel is convenient, however the whole place inside and out requires significant work, and it's not likely to get it anytime soon.
For one night, on business, then it is borderline acceptable, anything longer and you might not be happy.

Room Tip: Not upstairs and as far from reception as possible for noise levels are high close to the road.

This is a very old style motel so do not expect much. I find the price high for the condition. The only plus is the location which is near some nice cafes and not too far from city center.

The rooms have very thin walls thus it's noisy and bad insulation does little to keep the cold out. The bathroom has the shower and toilet together, and is inside the bedroom which makes it very inconvenient for the 3rd occupant sleeping in the lounge. The windows does not latch properly thus compromising on security.

Overall I think I've rated it very fairly. Not impressed.
