QT Auckland garners praise for its sophisticated atmosphere and stylish decor, with a welcoming rooftop bar and inviting dining experiences enhancing its charm. Guests commend the comfortable and plush rooms, despite noting poor lighting and soundproofing. The hotel's cleanliness and prime location near the harbour and local attractions are also applauded.
While the friendly and attentive service is a highlight, some guests report inconsistent experiences. However, the value proposition is questioned, with concerns about pricing not reflecting the overall experience.

Detailed Reviews
We were super impressed with the friendly staff and warm welcome. We loved the round keys and the art is worth looking at in the different areas of the hotel.
We stayed 2 nights so ate at the downstairs restaurant one night and the rooftop bar the next. Both were top notch and we will definitely return. The service was above expectations as the menu and options were well explained and great suggestions made. We loved what we ordered and were also eyeing up the next tables dinner which was the snapper ,so we will be returning to try that!
Both nights we went to the rooftop bar ,and that is a must do when in Auckland. We felt like we were overseas and loved the whole feel and vibe. The food was sooo good. We tried a few dishes and could not fault anything. I can't stress enough that this a place to visit and definitely try the food you won't be dissapointed. . The staff here were attentive , vibrant and happy to recommend cocktails and food to your preferences. My favourite was the frozen Rose, it was a delicious alcoholic slushy, just what I needed on a hot day.
The rooms had great blackout blinds, and we heard no street noise at all. We had an 02 corner room and it was a great layout and had lots of room. Im a fussy pillow and linen person and was very comfortable and loved the bed and pillows. The shower was great too, dark colors and huge with the rainfall and regular head choice. And a Dyson hair dryer. I had never tried Dyson before and was so excited to try, and loved it so much I have now bought one.
This review is long as there were so many good comments I can make. We were there for an anniversary and my birthday, and I would say this is the place to go to for a special couples night, but even better a few nights. From the warm welcome, hand written card with delicious treats and bubbles, to the lovely valet Kelly who chatted about our time in Auckland, everything was above our expectations and made our special time even more special.

Really enjoyable stay. It was really easy to book online through their website and I signed up with their Priority Guest registration for a good discount and no annoying email spam so far.
Valet parking was great, before we even checked in staff were there to say hi, take our keys and parked the car.
The hotel is lovely, so tidy and clean and awesome decor. Our room was on the 2nd floor by the lifts which I thought would be noisy but didn't hear a thing.
We stayed in an Executive Balcony which was beautiful and tidy. The rain shower was large and just what we wanted. Double sink and good mirrors. Loved the Dyson Hairdryer!!
The bed was super soft and had a great nights sleep. Nice and quiet room, coffee machine, Chromecast on TV, all 4 Sports and a lovely 55" TV
Went to Esther for dinner which was lovely. I booked a table from the app, ordered room service for breakfast both days (1 was included in the package) and thoroughly enjoyed. No long wait times at all
Cocktails on the rooftop bar which is a must and a beautiful view. Missed with

The QT Hotel in the Viaduct Harbour area opened in November 2020. Â Since I don't live in Auckland and was attending a dinner function at the hotel, I decided to spend the night. Â
The telephone reservation staff informed me that if I joined their complimentary Loyalty Program I would qualify for a reduced room rate and also for a 20% discount on food and beverages. Â This discount saved me lots!
The hotel has an "Oyster" theme.  The colours, floor tiles, art, etc. expands on the Oyster theme.  When I checked in, a young gentleman at the desk showed me around the facility, escorted me to my room and procured a US to NZ plug adaptor for me so I could use my flat iron.  He advised me to try the restaurant's specialty puff bread. I took his advice and had the bread with a glass of red wine and a dipping sauce ($20 with the member discount).  Dinner was a group affair with our table of 6 sharing more puffed bread, an exquisite tomato salad, potatoes, asparagus, lamb shank and grilled fish.  My portion was $26 and that included extra cups of coffee.  Breakfast the next day was also about $20.
The hotel address is listed as 4 Viaduct Harbour Ave - and that's not exactly correct. Â From Viaduct Harbour Ave. you enter Esther's restaurant, but the lobby access is actually from Customs Street W. Â Since the hotel is so new, my Uber driver did not know that, and I had to drag my suitcase through the restaurant and bar.
The seating area of the hotel restaurant, Esther's, is open to the kitchen and bar. Â Music is always playing. Â It was not easy to hear conversations at the other end of our table. Â However, my room (#421) was so quiet - I could not believe I was in the CBD. Â The bed linens were creamy, and all the amenities were lovely, especially the milled soap.
I plan to stay at QT again the next time I'm in Auckland.

Overall a very average stay. Let’s start with the positives: friendly reception staff and they were able to give us an early 12pm check in (perhaps us hanging out in the lobby for a couple hours encouraged this) Room service was also delivered promptly. Chrome casting on the tv and a Dyson hairdryer in each room.
Negatives: poor signage to the hotel and the blockout wooden doors make it hard to see. No one at the front to help us with our bags (we had a lot!) we had to go and get a trolly and load and push ourselves- disappointing for a 5 star hotel where we paid $700 for one night! Not kid friendly at all. There are no kids menus at all (not room service or the rooftop bar or lobby restaurant breakfast) and therefore found ourselves spending a fortune on large meals for our kids where half would get wasted or not touched due to the complexity of flavours (and my kids really aren’t picky- why not even just some steamed mixed veg and homemade chicken tenders etc?!) No bathrooms in the lobby had a baby change table for me to change my 8month olds dirty nappy. The rooftop was nice and service was friendly…if anyone remembers to come and take your order! The rooms are tiny and awkwardly laid out. We brought our own wine and the wine glasses were full of dust in both rooms (we had interconnecting rooms) so much for covid cleaning! I bet they had been there through many guests by the looks! Very hard to get through to order room service. The app didn’t work and they didn’t answer the phone until we went via reception to order. The beds are not king size like advertised but queen size at best. The lighting and switches are all over the place. Very basic room amenities given the level hotel this is meant to be. Service staff very loud in the hallways laughing and talking very loudly. No pool.
What on earth is going on here? For a hotel that is 5 stars, great location, costs a bomb and looks fab ‘on paper’ it sure is all smoke and mirrors. Is it some kind of science experiment to see if uni students can run a top end hotel without any experience?
I don’t recommend.

Dear AmandaD, Thank you for providing us with feedback regarding your recent stay at QT Auckland. It is pleasing to hear your stay was off to a great start with the friendly service and early check-in provided by our Reception Team. However having read your feedback, it looks as though there were a number of areas that could be improved to cater better for families. It is concerning to read that the in-room cleanliness was not the standards set by the team and rest assured I will follow this up with our Housekeeping team to ensure we are addressing this immediately. I would love an opportunity to further discuss your recent stay in more detail. If you would welcome this, please reach out to me on bjorn_van_ginkel@evt.com. Warmest Regards, Bjorn van Ginkel Front Office Manager

I stay in a lot of hotels for work and pleasure and the QT Auckland is living up to the QT brand. I was impressed with the layout and design of the rooms and the water filling station on each floor. Beds were comfortable and good air condition and excellent Dyson hairdryer in our rooms.
Restaurant downstairs was very good. Finding the entrance to the hotel can be difficult and parking was at a premium around the sidesteps so we used the valet service which was good.
On-site gym needs more equipment which is understandable with this only being the second month of operation. Great location in the viaduct. Rooftop bar not open during our stay on Mon and Tue nights. I will be coming back to use the rooftop bar.

If you’re looking for me this summer, this is where I will be. Booked in for a cheeky staycation and QT Auckland delivered and then some.
The rooms are fresh, refined and beautiful. Attention has been paid to even the smallest of details which definitely does not go unnoticed. The hotel is pure luxury from the minute you walk through the door, and the staff really make you feel like a VVIP.
I can go on and on about the things you will love about QT’s newest edition (including everything on the menu at Esther 🤤) but the one place you MUST ensure you visit is the sun drenched rooftop bar. With immaculate views, a drinks list that just seems to span on and on and probably the friendliest and most attentive staff i have ever come across, I’m not sure why anyone would want to have sundowners anywhere else in the city. The bar was really busy but you wouldn’t know it from the way the staff handled the evening - our glasses were never empty and food service was equally efficient. Well done QT Auckland - not an easy balance to crack in the opening weeks but you absolutely nailed it. Will be seeing you very soon!

TLDR; Book a different hotel
Pros:
It looks pretty in pictures
Cons:
The rooms are dark and impractical, nothing is layed out with any practical sense. The lights are all controlled in stupid ways with light switches in pointless places.
Air conditioning. Is locked out at a pathetic range so you will be cold in the winter and hot in the summer, also there is no way to turn off the fan so you will feel like you are sleeping on a plane.
Noise blocking is poor, you can hear the people in the other rooms.
Room service is pathetic and through an app they make you download, it closes early and you can’t order food late at night.
Shower is a rainfall one carefully pointed at the wall because it will flood the room if it’s used like an actual rainfall shower.
Curtains, like many things in this hotel, are poorly thought out and impractical to use.
Bar on the top floor is a party bar opened to the public so expect the lifts to be full of drunk people.

Staff throughout our stay were exceptional. Very keen to help and sorted out a number of issues, with often come with a hotel that has been newly opened. Adriana in particular was marvellous. The hotel has a quirky and fresh feel which makes it very different from your average Auckland property and the artwork makes it somewhat unique. The rooms (we tried two) were of good size, well equipped, though may be a little too "industrial" for some. The services guide is fully electronic and finding the wi-fi password was not intuitive. I would suggest this be given out to guests on arrival. Light switches too, especially for showers and toilets were not in obvious positions. Due to a private function (of which were learned that there have been quite a few) we were unable to use the rooftop bar, but were offered a round of complimentary drinks in the lobby bar to compensate. There was a good buzz here and staff again were charming. Breakfast the following morning sadly was a mess. There was no-one welcoming guests to the restaurant. Coffee and Tea took at least 25 minutes to arrive and we were informed too after 25 minutes that they had run out of all juices. Our hot breakfast when it came was good. There appeared little system amongst the staff and the banister was rushed off his feet trying to keep up with coffee orders. The hotel boiler went on the blink in the morning, resulting in a lack of hot water for a short period. There was also no milk in the room minibar.

Dear Rjbrown, Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback regarding your recent stay. We are extremely pleased to hear the team and Adriana left a lasting impression on you, they truly are a wonderful asset to QT Auckland. We are disappointed to hear there were a number of issues during the morning of your departure, rest assured since then we have reviewed these issues and implemented several new processes to prevent these from occurring in the future. Please accept my sincerest apologies for this. The design of the hotel is very unique, featuring work from a number of local artists. We are thrilled to hear these additions have been well received as a great addition to the QT quirk! We truly look forward to welcoming you to QT Auckland again in the near future. Warm Regards, QT Auckland Team

Stunningly appointed , with a fantastic restaurant and rooftop bar. Rooms are elegant and well stocked, and the beds are comfortable. We had a balcony room, and it was great , with a fantastic view. Valet parking was easy and quick, and the check in experience was excellent.
Had an issue with the room servicing/ cleaning that wasn't resolved - Ordered a room clean at a specific time , and the room was not reset correctly - Minibar not restocked , and the surfaces not cleaned or rubbish removed . This was bought to the attention of the font desk , but was not completed ( Room clean ordered for 10.30 am , notified at 12.00 pm and returned at 4.30pm)

Dear K5197VLbrianc, Thank you for your wonderful feedback regarding our facilities and the service that was provided by our Valet and Reception teams upon arrival. It is pleasing to hear the process was a breeze! I am disappointed to hear we did not action the servicing of your room at the requested time, even after being notified. My sincerest apologies for the shortfall here and rest assured I will follow this up with the team. We really hope to see you back at QT Auckland again in the near future. We look forward to making your next stay the perfect one! Warmest Regards, QT Auckland Team

My stay at the QT Auckland was amazing. So amazing that I will definitely be booking it again at the end of the year when I visit again.
It is so modern and clean with the latest products including a Dyson hairdryer which I fell in love with and a Nespresso machine. The bed felt like you were sleeping in a cloud and the rain shower was heavenly.
They include an option that if you don’t want your room cleaned for the day they will provide you with $20 meal and drink voucher which came in really handy especially if you are travelling solo. I ordered with room service the margarita pizza, mozzarella toasties and duck fat fries which were all well proportioned and delicious and with my vouchers I didn’t have to pay anything for them.
The also have steel QT water bottles that you can refill at the water fountain on each floor which was a really handy option I took up so I always had cold fresh water.
It is situated in such a prime location with the wharf directly behind the hotel. It only takes 5 minutes to reach the Ferries, the city and the Maritime Museum.
If you are coming to Auckland I would truly recommend this hotel it has everything you can possibly need and more and the staff were so friendly and helpful.

Probably not for general pets. If it is a guide dog for example I am sure they would be welcoming. I wouldn't take my very spoilt little dog there as it is not ideal for walking.
Valet Parking is available at the hotel at a cost of $45.00 per night. Our Front Entrance is located on Custom St West where there are a number of parks. One of our Front Office Team will assist you with the Valet from there! Parking is subject to availability and there are a number of other large carparks within the area.
