We recently spent four nights in the Rangihoua suite at The Hotel Britomart and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The hotel is modern and minimalistic - a peaceful respite in the middle of down Auckland, and the location is wonderful with many eateries and shops near by. Cieran and the rest of the staff are very kind and attentive - we felt very looked-after during our stay. The room was spectacular, the breakfasts amazing, and the housekeeping staff kept our room tidy and stocked with treats. A truly wonderful stay!

I love the layout of the room, it was well decorated and gave off a very tranquil ambiance. The finish of the room reminded me of a serene forest, and I liked how all the staff have a unifying uniform to match the setting of the hotel. There is a panel near the front door that allows you to control the blinds, temperature, fan and lights.

Housekeeping is provided on a daily basis, which is lovely as you get to come back to a freshly made bed and refreshed towels after activities. Complementary tea, coffee and milk are provided in the fridge/minibar section.

I loved how friendly the staff were, as I was extended a complimentary late checkout of 12 pm.

The only few observations I have are:
- Complimentary breakfast is provided only with booking directly with the hotel
- There is no 24-hour self-serve station to get snacks/beverages, but the restaurant is open 24 hours for food and there is a 24 hour convenience store within a block.

I would definitely want to stay in this hotel if I plan to stay in CBD of Auckland in the coming future.

The hotel is in a very central location which we liked straight away. We arrived on an early flight from Perth and the hotel staff were very welcoming and accommodating letting us into our room early. The lobby and public area smell divine and the rooms are very comfortable and well equipped .We enjoyed our breakfasts in the hotel although we didn't eat there in the evenings.
We did eat at the Angus Steakhouse in Fort Lane and were able to choose our steaks. Would thoroughly recommend this. We also visited the Brit Pub which is nearby.
Loved this hotel and would have liked to stay longer.

Kia ora V1345VUdianem, Thank you so much for taking the time to review your stay with us at The Hotel Britomart. I am delighted to read that you had a memorable experience for all the right reasons. For our last night in New Zealand, our travel agent had the excellent idea of booking us a room at the Britomart Hotel. This establishment, located in the heart of the eponymous district, is the epitome of refinement. As soon as you enter the hall, the decoration, at once sober, designer and warm, sets the tone with its stones and woodwork. Before even setting foot in the room, you are sure that you will enjoy your stay.

Indeed, the room does not disappoint. All the decor is of exquisite taste and the room is very functional. I think the sliding bathroom door is a great idea. We appreciate the view of the square, even more beautiful at night with its light garlands.

We had a peaceful night and were never disturbed. The hotel is at the top, both for sound and light insulation.

Even if it is usual among our Kiwi friends, the staff is very kind and attentive to your needs.

Two small regrets: that the Britomart hotel does not have its own parking lot (even if it is possible, for a fee, to park the car in an area that does not belong to the establishment) and that it does not does not offer a continental buffet breakfast.

Apart from these two small points, everything is perfect.

The positives:
Extremely well located to the city and ferry. Lots of great places to eat within easy walking distance. Walking around Britomart is lovely at night as it's lit up with fairy lights. The Hotel Britomart is very attractive inside and out. Staff members are all very friendly, acknowledging us when we entered and exited the hotel. The library is a nice space exclusive to guests, where we enjoyed delicious cocktails/mocktails. Rooms are very compact but very cleverly designed to maximise space. Rooms are equipped with both shade blinds and black out blinds. Good quality coffee capsules and tea bags are provided. The bathroom was not too small and well laid out.
The negatives:
The rooms are a bit squishy. Only one person can move around the room at a time e.g. to make a hot drink the wardrobe door needs to be open which means that no one else can get past. More sugar would be appreciated - some of us have a sweet tooth and don't want to go to the trouble of calling up for more. Providing fresh milk in a mini milk bottle is a nice touch but unfortunately the one in our fridge was partly used and the use-by date was the same day. The lighting in the bathroom was very dim so hard to do make up. Also, the light controls were fiddly - conventional switches would have been much easier to navigate. Our (standard) room had a clear view of other internal areas of the hotel, e.g. the library and what looked like a meeting room, and vice versa - had to wear the robes provided at all times (see photo). If you're thinking of staying here consider paying extra for a better room if it's within your budget (it wasn't in ours).

ideal location in heart of upscale Britomart minutes away from restaurants, cafes , Tamaki Drive coastal PATH walk or cycle to nearby Westhaven Marina home of New Zealand Yacht Squadron or got opposite direction to beach towns of Mission Bay or St Heliers . Bikes free to hotel guests use . I never need to hire a car . The scandinavian contemporary design of hotel and rooms is a cross between Māori culture and mid century modern . Super friendly gracious staff The KINGI Restaurant is FAB see pic and hip Libary Lounge is ideal for events which I booked for musicians performance.

My daughter took me here for Mothers Day High Tea called Aotearoa High Tea. This was a cut above the normal high tea experience. We were seated in The Libraries upstairs which is an exclusive area normally reserved for guests with well known original art works displayed on the wall. We were formally welcomed which set the scene. Rather than the food coming all in one go, it came out in three placings and it was explained as we went. This was the first High Tea that The Hotel Britomart had undertaken and the Chef really thought about what flavours worked. Picked egg, raisin, macadamia sandwich, or the paua sausae roll, wakame. HP, or the orange cake, sour cherry. It was hard to choose my favourite. The No1 Family Estate Assemble NV. Marlborough was a great match for the savory course, and the Zealong Tea on offer throughout was perfect.

The Chef was introduced to us at the end which was lovely and we were asked what our favourites were. To be honest, it was so hard to choose. I didn’t leave anything on my plate. I loved it all!!!!

I liked that The Hotel Britomart didn’t cram tables in, that we were nicely spaced out, and the sections were split with the waiting staff only looking after a few tables each. It made for an exclusive setting and we could hear ourselves talk and not hear the conversations of our neighbours.

It was such an experience and well worth it.

Kia ora Nickaren2016, Thank you so much for your kind words and wonderful 5 star review of your experience of The Hotel Britomart's Aotearoa High Tea located in The Libraries. High Tea in The Libraries is a celebration of Aotearoa, featuring contemporary delicacies crafted by Executive Chef, Andrew Lautenbach, who drew inspiration from some of his favourite childhood treats. Having experienced some of the delights myself I can completely agree it is very hard to choose a favourite through the day. We are very lucky to have such a genuine, knowledgeable, and friendly team such as our wonderful Senior Sous Chef Stefania who you got to meet as she prepared these delights for your yesterday. This is very much the style of our proudly kiwi owned hotel. We look forward to welcoming you back to The Hotel Britomart, The Libraries and the Britomart neighbourhood in the near future. We loved our stay at the Hotel Britomart. We arrived early morning after a very long flight from the US. We were offered a room upgrade to a higher floor with early check in for a reasonable cost. It started our trip off great. The room was very comfortable with nice amenities and a great view. Staff were so friendly and nice. It is a great location…walking distance to the harbor for our ferry the next day and close to so many great restaurants. Breakfast at the hotel was very nice and cocktails in the library were perfect to relax before dinner at Cafe Hanoi next door. Surrounding area had beautiful flowers and local music and events.

We booked a Central Auckland Hotel to attend a concert. The hotel Britomart appeared to fulfil all the criteria that we were looking for. This was an expensive Central Auckland Hotel but failed to live up to expectations. It is dark with small claustrophobic rooms difficult to move around in and very badly set up. We were also directed, prior to our arrival, to an external website to organise car parking which we did. Our car was taken from us, courteously, when we arrived but we were then charged over and above what we had already paid for car parking and told that this wasn’t included. We will have to try and sort this out but I suspect we will be left out of pocket. The restaurant is dark and unappealing. The hotel is dark and unappealing. It’s eCredential’s are irrelevant, given that climate change is a scam, what we paid and what we got. There are other, more appealing, better options in the middle of Auckland and I certainly wouldn’t be visiting again.
