Smart, soulful and contemporary, The Hotel Britomart welcomes guests to the best of downtown waterfront Auckland. New Zealand’s first 5 Green Star hotel has beautiful timber-lined, cocoon-like rooms with elegantly tiled bathrooms, built-in sofas and hand-made ceramics. Downstairs, the historic warehouses of the Britomart neighbourhood house some of the country’s best restaurants, bars and cafes, while plant-lined pedestrian streets and laneways are full of incredible shopping. Just a few steps away is Auckland’s beautiful waterfront, the ferry terminal and central business district, while the underground Britomart Transport Centre offers easy public transport connections to every part of the city. The Hotel Britomart has 99 guest rooms and five beautiful suites, with all the interiors designed by the team at Auckland’s award-winning Cheshire Architects. All our guest rooms offer a harbour, city or laneway views and feature snug timber-lined walls, elegantly tiled bathrooms, comfy built-in sofas, hand-made ceramics and minibars full of locally sourced treats. The Hotel Britomart’s five suites are named after bays at The Landing, the luxury destination in New Zealand’s Bay of Islands. There are three suites on the top floor of The Hotel Britomart, while two more are located in a glassy pavilion constructed on the roof of the adjacent century-old Buckland Building, accessed through The Hotel Britomart’s fifth floor. Britomart is home to the flagship stores of New Zealand’s best fashion designers, along with boutiques showcasing the world’s best brands. And all of it is within steps of The Hotel Britomart’s front door.

The staff was friendly and helpful, with good recommendations about what to do in Auckland during our vacation. The hotel's location is great and breakfasts are delicious. Valet parking was perfect. The lobby is a good place to relax with an afternoon cup of tea.

Hotel's Favourite
Stayed at the Hotel BRITOMART for a week in late November 2023. I was in NZ to visit my son who is attending the University of Auckland. The hotel is new and amazing and has an exceptional eye towards sustainability. I met a large number of Hotel employees over the course of my week and every one of them exceeded expectations in terms of service, approachability and friendliness. Baj, one of the concierge’s, provided amazing recommendations for steak houses and things to do, going above and beyond to check in with me regularly to see how my stay was going. Tania (from Milan) took exceptional care of my son and I every morning at breakfast and regularly pointed out the best options on the menu. Chloe (from Provence) made my solo dinner at the hotel’s restaurant KINGLI a memorable experience, including her lesson on French cognac. When I return to Auckland I know where to stay. You should try it and see what I mean.

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and to say that the Hotel Britomart exceeded our expectations is an understatement. The staff was courtesy and professional. The operations manager went above and beyond to make our stay as perfect as can be. I cannot recommend the Hotel Britomart enough, be that from the location, to comfort, to the outstanding staff. This place is great!

Absolutely loved our stays at the Britomart—we spent two nights three weeks apart at the beginning and end of our honeymoon and it was the perfect way to bookend the trip. Comfy beds, beautiful design, and a cafe/restaurant with great food and a good vibe. Tessa from reception was the best! Helped arrange a late checkout, stored our bags, and gave us lots of great tips for things to do while we waited for our flight home. Wish we could have stayed longer!

We were here for 3 nights at the start of a nearly one month vacation in Oceania. Our travel agent had recommended this hotel and it was a great choice. It's modern and new, very clean, well-decorated and in a great location with tons of restaurants in walking distance. The rooms are small with limited storage space, but we had an outstanding corner view of the harbor. The best thing of all was the staff. All were friendly and warm, starting with Tessa at the front desk and a personal welcome from the Manager, Clinton. One day, our scheduled tour guide failed to show and as I was waiting outside the hotel, Ciaran, the Guest Relations Mgr, came and asked if I needed help. I told him our guide was late and we had no phone capabilities to reach them. He immediately called the company, but since it was the weekend, couldn't get through to them. That didn't stop him. He then contacted our travel agent's emergency number and talked to them. They got ahold of the tour guiding company and told us there was no record of the booking. They had nobody who could do the tour at the time. It turned out that they had made a scheduling error, but at least we didn't spend the morning waiting needlessly. Ciaran, truly lived up to his title! He couldn't have been nicer or more helpful to these American tourists. What a wonderful introduction to New Zealand's wonderful people.

Beautiful hotel, lovely room (although small, but didn't matter), everything felt SO nice....except it soured it for me that the staff were wearing a WINTER UNIFORM (full length pants, shirts and WINTER BLAZERS) on a 25 degree day in SUMMER! When I asked they if they were roasting they said "omg yes"...I asked if they'd brought their uniform up with management and they said "yes we've tried". I overheard a staff member say they couldn't wait to go on break because they were SO hot, and literally sweating. I saw another lady who I presumed to be a manager in there, and she was wearing a short sleeved top (not in uniform - typical!). Seriously...sure you might be a 'green hotel' but if you don't look after your staff what does that matter? Honestly it felt a little cruel to me. It was SOOOOO hot and I felt soooooo sorry for your lovely staff. I'm happy to take this 3 star review down once you fix it. PLEASE TREAT YOUR STAFF BETTER

Kia ora Freedom73650, Thank you for choosing to stay at The Hotel Britomart. I appreciate you taking the time to review your stay. When bringing the hotel to life, we placed much emphasis on the design, look and feel as well as working closely with New Zealand suppliers and manufacturers to showcase the very best of our wonderful country and are delighted to see you enjoyed this overall. I would like to thank you for your open and honest feedback with regard to our uniform. Rest assured we have taken this seriously. As per my response to you via our in-house survey submitted on Monday, whilst this is not intended to be a winter uniform and similar to a normal suit jacket that you may have seen some of our management team wearing, we understand your concerns on warmer days. We have addressed your feedback with our front office team and have encouraged our Duty Managers during summer months to make a shift by shift call on whether jackets are worn. As you will appreciate uniform is an important part of our overall brand delivery, team members looking part of the team and identifiable from a guest experience perspective is an important part of this. Rest assured that our team is the most important part of our hotel and we take all such feedback with great importance. Should you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact me directly on cmolloy@thehotelbritomart.com We sincerely hope that we get to host you again sometime in the future at New Zealand first and only 5 star green eco rated hotel. Terrific experience where no request was too difficult to accommodate. Really appreciate the kind staff catering for my mobility and treatment requirements after completing but suffering a leg injury at the UTMB Tarawera Miler. The food for breakfast was spectacular, fresh and tasty. The concierge, service and room was amazing. Will definitely be back ☺️

We had a wonderful stay at The Hotel Britomart for my mother's 60th birthday celebration. The facilities were just beautiful - architecturally unique, aesthetic, functional, impeccably clean and very comfortable. We absolutely loved our breakfast at Kingi in the morning and have previously dined there in the evening, enjoying a similar wonderful experience. The highlight of our stay was the service - everything about it was personal and warm, and the staff went above and beyond to make the occasion feel special for my mum. We will without a doubt be back!
