We were pleased with a look of the room when we checked in, yet later on that night so many unpleasant downsides ruined our stay:

SHOWER: the hot water run out after a few minutes, and when second person went to take a shower it was bloody COLD!

WINDOWS: despite early spring in NZ and +9C outside, hotel management find it "ok" not to shut the windows in whole room/ kitchenette , shower, even during the rain. as a matter of fact shower windows were impossible to close at all. so cold shower+ open windows = horrible experience!

Fridge: I turned it on onto the highest degree, I placed my breakfast in it. and in the morning discovered all food gone bad. the fridge didn't work.

BED : was uncomfortable, pillows almost absent.

make your conclusions.

Myself and partner arrived in Auckland late and this place was recommened to us.
Shortly after arriving I had a shower and the hot water ran out - before my partner even had the chance. The staff were rude and unhelpful when asked about this - they hung up on my partner.
The internet was $5 per hour - most motels are free, that was way to expensive.
The only nice thing they did was give us $10 off the total bill.

Not very clean - clearly not cared for well.

After a whole day's driving, we arrived in Auckland and checked in. The unit was not very clean, mould in bathroom and stains on the curtains. Despite booking for five, and the presence of 5 beds, the kitchen was only equipped with 4 sets of plates/bowls/cutlery, etc. We had to eat our breakfast in shifts. When I did our final 'under the beds' check before leaving, I found a pair on underpants that did not belong to us. Ug!

Where to start?
The unit smelt awful, something akin to stale urine.
The bathroom was dirty. There were no towels provided and we had to request them from the desk.
There was a terrible stain on my pillow. It looked as if someone had had a weeping wound.
One of the top panes of glass was loose which let in a draft. The security was awful.
The shower wall was rotting and bowed.
I did notice as I walked to my car that a couple of the rooms were done up and looked clean and fantastic. They appeared to be being rented to people from certain countries while long time locals got put in the dog boxes.
I was so tempted to just leave and try to find somewhere else, feeling it would be worth the money I'd given them NOT to have to stay there. But it was too late at night when I arrived to go in search of another room.
My skin crawls at the memory. Awful.
If I try to give one positive it was that the unit was quiet. I don't know if it was just the day as other reviews would imply a different experience. But for me noise disturbances weren't a problem.

They let us park our car there outside the unti they were going to allocate us but because it was before 2pm we couldn't check in. Was a hot couple of days but the pool was locked and dirty. Half hour walk to the Auckland Zoo, but wear decent shoes. 5 min walk to the Baldwin Train Station.

Front desk staff were pleasant and made check in seamless after a long flight.

We had a two bedroom apartment - was surprised by how small it was in comparison the how large it looked in photos, however, it served our purpose for one night. I think a longer stay with three adults may've felt quite cramped.

Apartment was clean. Beds were comfortable.

Shower was a let down - difficult to get temperature right and any slight adjustment would generally send freezing water over you.

I'm not sure a bar fridge in a two bedroom apartment would be adequate in a longer stay.

Paid wifi hotspot.

Great cafe on site with good coffee and food.

Would stay again without hesitation.

The best point about this motel is the staff. They are friendly and helpful, which helped to make my stay a nice one. The hotel room matched the pricing, so it was clean and functional but not fancy, although having a kitchen was nice. The housekeeping staff were eager to ensure my kitchen was adequately stocked, and making my meals in saved me a considerable amount of money during my ten day stay.

If you visit with any electronics, and who doesn't these days, I would recommend you bring an extension cord with you so you can plug everything in; I found the power outlet in my room was on the other side of the bed from the table.

I would also recommend against paying for their wireless internet; at the best I got 300kb download and 100kb up, not enough to download emails without getting server errors. It was way too slow for the price, which at best was 25 NZD for eight hours of access. Instead I would recommend going to a nearby computer shop and renting bandwidth from them.

We are not picky travellers but this motel is very much below par. Firstly, only manager could speak English. No communication possible with any staff member. Every day problems with one towel for the two of us,or ,no soap Bed linen never changed once during our 8 night stay.. Shower box had holes in it and a soaker cloth on the shower tray to soak up the constant dripping of tap. No smoke alarm installed in motel. Phone charges excessive. On a fair note, motel handy to transport.

We booked in advance for this motel and were somewhat disappointed in initial appearances.

Was difficult to find signage for, and it was our teenager who spotted the sign down a right of way. First appearances were an old motel that had been turned into a block of flats. The exterior was rundown. Rooms were basic but clean, although double bed was very uncomfortable.

Despite booking for 3 people we were only provided with 2 small towels and 2 facecloths, unfortunately we did not discover this until nearly 11pm when we returned to the unit after a function.

Shower - the base of the shower was set quite high of the floor, difficult for older people, or those with mobility issues to get into.

I had a last minute stay here a couple of nights ago. First time staying here and it was chosen as it was nearby to what I wanted. Arrived at approx. 8pm, no booking, but luckily I had the last room available. The lady on reception was very welcoming and offered to show me room first. I declined I was happy not looking. She was very helpful re a lot of high school netballers that were staying, and let me know if they caused any disturbance to let her know. I had no trouble or heard very little if any noise from them. But nice to be warned. The room (6A) was a small studio, but still plenty of room and it had a small kitchenette also. The room looked like it had not long been renovated. So was very nice. Spotlessly clean. Little noise from Great North Road, so that was good. Venentian blinds on the front window let in a little much light the following morning. But nothing too bad. I would definitely stay here again.
