Detailed Reviews
The motel unit was clean and tidy, but definitely very aged and in need of updating. It is very compact, with little room to move in the bedroom, and the doorways seemed to be narrower than the usual size.
Despite the website stating that Portacots and linen are available, this was not correct, meaning we had to order the portacot from a local hire firm. we did know when booking that this would be the case, but it did mean extra cost for our stay.
Whilst checking in, the receptionist was pleasant and polite, but in the room behind reception ( with an open door) a loud telephone conversation was taking place, which was obviously an argument over money. We did not find it very professional that we should be subjected to hearing this conversation, particularly when the person then came into the reception area continuing the phone call. We felt this was rather rude. Not a pleasant situation to be in.
A positive thing about the motor lodge is the swimming pool, it is great.

We stayed in one of the cabins, which I was really disappointed to find had no kettle or mini fridge for milk and food storage (there is space in the room for this). When we arrived there was a random piece of rubbish on the floor and a tampon beside the dresser (gross), pillow case was dirty so it felt horrible having to sleep in such a filthy room. Such a shame as the premises is so lovely with all the trees and greenery, one can forgive dated if only it was clean.

We read some of the reviews so were a little worried our stay here wouldn’t be that great. However, we were pleasantly surprised.
We were booked to stay one night in a 2 bdrm unit but due to our ferry being cancelled, we had to stay an extra 2 nights, the last night being in a cabin as that was all that was left (final of the women’s rugby World Cup that weekend so busy).
The unit we stayed in the first 2 nights was perfect for us. Yes, the units are tired and old but they had everything we needed to be self-sufficient and fairly comfortable during our stay. Plus, the location is fantastic, quiet as in a cul de sac but still close to the supermarket and cafes.
Our last night was in a cabin - a bit damp but it was adequate for a night’s sleep before an early start.
We felt we got good value for what we paid, especially given the location. The staff were also helpful and friendly.
We’d definitely stay in a motel unit again.

We chose this place as we wanted an authentic old style Motor Lodge like we stayed in as children. What we found was exactly that though it had not been maintained or cleaned since then either. The staff were very quick to take our money. The place is an absolute dump with unhelpful and rude managers / owners. An alternative room was offered, though this was no better than the original.
The rooms are smelly, damp (even during a dry spell of 2.5 months without any significant rain) and stained.
The cooking facilities were not only old but dirty too. Despite claims from the manager that they were trying to update, it’s clear that they’re attempting it at the lowest possible cost.
This place is an embarrassment to New Zealand and not at all representative of other places we’ve visited and stayed in across New Zealand. It’s also horrendously overpriced. We walked away and stayed at the local Novotel for only $9 and it had two drinks included, so ultimately it was cheaper, cleaner and air conditioned!
Complaint lodged with booking.com so hopefully a refund will come through.

What a disgusting hole of a camp. We only have 2 nights to go out of 10 and booked because of Auckland hosting the America's Cup. The high light of my stay to be thinking of leaving with only 2 nights left. Unimpressed to see a man in reception walking around the Chinese lady as we complained at no wifi reception when it says on the camping site they have wifi. We are 3 mitres away from the kitchen and toilets and from 10pm to 7 am people are cooking and banging and clanking their pots and cutlery. Rubbish bins directly across from us and people dumping glass and tins all hours of the night. People talking aloud at 6 am as they leave for work so must be permanent campers here. This place is un-kept and needs drastic maintenance. No lawns mowed and tall grass as you walk into the caravan. Not a pleasant outlook or enjoyable environment. Toilets are disgusting and can't even close the door when squashed against the toilet. Shower are so old, curtains only and no seat/ledge to put anything on. Old 1970s shower nozzles. Unimpressed and will never come back again unless under new management and camp is cleaned up.

Reading reviews wasn't super helpful, as I was quite worried about this place because of them. As a family of 4, including 2 teens, we found our accommodation very suitable for our needs. I guess it could have been a little 'cleaner', but it had everything we needed for our two-night visit. Great value for money, excellent central location with proximity to a super and eateries. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

We stayed as a sports group so had 4 different units booked. Unfortunately our experience of staying here was a big disappointment. The 2 bed room units were very old, run down, freezing cold (was warmer outside than in), dirty and dusty and crawling with insects. Cockroaches and big spiders. The large house was much warmer and comfortable but also had multiple cockroaches throughout the house. We would definitely not choose to stay here again unless there was a lot of cleaning, bug management and updating done.

The whole place is dirty and disgusting, stains and holes on the carpet, dirty walls and curtains, greasy and dirty kitchenette, holes on the lino in the toilet, hair in the shower basin, smell of damp and cigarettes.
We walked away as soon as we saw the room. The manager/owners (rude chineese lady and a very rude man) was absolutely unhelpful and extremely disrespectful, said that they can't do anything about that and as soon as I mentioned refund, the man started telling me that he is going to call "special people" to remove us from the site.

I was there with my sister for an overnight stay prior to a funeral. Unit was basically clean. The beds were comfortable and clean, as were the towels, but as the bed in the bedroom took almost all of the floor area of the bedroom, getting dressed and undressed was problematical. Bedroom did not have a door at all so no provision for modesty. Shower was hot, but very low water pressure. Pleased we were only staying the one night. Basic would be a kind description, and for what it was a little overpriced.

Absolutely disgusting. Cobwebs and spiders everywhere. Crusty and moldy walls, worse place to stay with children. Bloody splattered mosquitoes on wall, non working heaters broken wall plugs, broken lights, etc... a must see photos just to start to understand the estate of the room we were in. My partner end up having an asthma attack from the mold. Barely any sleep.

Hi there,
For a non powered site we charge $45night for two people and for a powered site we charge $50/night for two people. A tent site is from $20/night and our cabins are $65/night for 2 people.
Kind Regards,
Remuera Motor Lodge
I can say that if you contact the office before travelling and them know when you are arriving they will let you know how to check in later and then you can fix them up in the morning - they are a really nice management team I found
Hi, I am not totally sure. I don't actually live in Auckland myself, but know there is a reasonable bus service, and I'm unsure about the Britomart train service. I'm not sure if it goes out that far. Taxi would be a bit expensive. You could try checking with the motel and see what service they supply or what info they can give you. Or check online and see what bus services are available. We always have our own vehicle and have generally only used the free shuttles from airport to motel. I know there is a very reasonably priced shuttle from airport to Auckland CBD. Sorry I can't be of much help. I hope you enjoy your trip
