Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Rupert and Lisa ( the owners) are friendly really good people and nothing was a hassle for them. They look after their guests well and ensure that they have everything they need and more. They took over a few months ago and have worked hard to make it a beautiful place to stay. Everything in the rooms are new... beds, furniture, linen and I'm pretty sure the toilet is new as well. I dont know what it was like before they owned it but it's clean, hygienic and they pride themselves on keeping it that way. The grounds are well maintained, the pool is clean and super refreshing to swim in and even the young woman who does room service was lovely. She looks like she enjoys her job so that says a lot about her bosses. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone considering staying there and I'll definitely be back to stay there.

The camp has been rundown but the new manager (May 2023) is working to improve it. Areas have been water blasted and trees pruned. The new manager is very friendly and obliging. Facilities were clean. Still a lot of work to do but a safe place to stay in central Auckland.

Absolutely disgusting. Cobwebs and spiders everywhere. Crusty and moldy walls, worse place to stay with children. Bloody splattered mosquitoes on wall, non working heaters broken wall plugs, broken lights, etc... a must see photos just to start to understand the estate of the room we were in. My partner end up having an asthma attack from the mold. Barely any sleep.

Reading reviews wasn't super helpful, as I was quite worried about this place because of them. As a family of 4, including 2 teens, we found our accommodation very suitable for our needs. I guess it could have been a little 'cleaner', but it had everything we needed for our two-night visit. Great value for money, excellent central location with proximity to a super and eateries. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

We read some of the reviews so were a little worried our stay here wouldn’t be that great. However, we were pleasantly surprised. We were booked to stay one night in a 2 bdrm unit but due to our ferry being cancelled, we had to stay an extra 2 nights, the last night being in a cabin as that was all that was left (final of the women’s rugby World Cup that weekend so busy). The unit we stayed in the first 2 nights was perfect for us. Yes, the units are tired and old but they had everything we needed to be self-sufficient and fairly comfortable during our stay. Plus, the location is fantastic, quiet as in a cul de sac but still close to the supermarket and cafes. Our last night was in a cabin - a bit damp but it was adequate for a night’s sleep before an early start. We felt we got good value for what we paid, especially given the location. The staff were also helpful and friendly. We’d definitely stay in a motel unit again.

We stayed in one of the cabins, which I was really disappointed to find had no kettle or mini fridge for milk and food storage (there is space in the room for this). When we arrived there was a random piece of rubbish on the floor and a tampon beside the dresser (gross), pillow case was dirty so it felt horrible having to sleep in such a filthy room. Such a shame as the premises is so lovely with all the trees and greenery, one can forgive dated if only it was clean.

My partner and I arrived and the two bedroom apartment that we had booked was small, with one bedroom and a single bed in the lounge, bedroom had no door, we were given a heater that didn’t even work. The tap in the kitchen didn’t work well at all, the toilet was not cleaned from the last guest and the breaking point for us was getting bitten by BED BUGS at 12 am, so had to find another hotel.

I was there with my sister for an overnight stay prior to a funeral. Unit was basically clean. The beds were comfortable and clean, as were the towels, but as the bed in the bedroom took almost all of the floor area of the bedroom, getting dressed and undressed was problematical. Bedroom did not have a door at all so no provision for modesty. Shower was hot, but very low water pressure. Pleased we were only staying the one night. Basic would be a kind description, and for what it was a little overpriced.
