Detailed Reviews
Nice long room. The upside, it's heritage and history. It's next door to Spark Arena, great if you're going there for a concert. It's central. The downside, you're in a train station so there is a long walk to your room. The car parking is not in a garage as the site says. The parking is outside the front of the building ($15nzd). Very, very noisy all hours because of the train station and all of the cranes that work throughout the night. The shower was small. It took a while for the front desk to get to the front desk. They only give you one key/card which is a hassle when there's more than one of you as you need it to get in the building and to get in your room. There are glue sniffers and people asking for smokes outside. People snuck in behind me twice when I walked in the building and I asked if they had a key and they walked straight past. So lock your doors.

Truly no frills yet not that cheap at all. Not worth it considering how no frills it was and the price we paid. We chose the place as we were sold by the beautiful pictures of the place. While the facade of the building is beautiful, the rooms are spartan. The room also has a funny smell that I cannot make out what was the cause of it.

Very basic but clean. Beautiful heritage railway station. Potential to be really stunning. Bit of a walk from Queen St. Felt a little like it was emergency accommodation. Noisy when people coming in late. Excellent shower was saving grace. Okay if you’re not too fussy.

We chose this accommodation for its central location and it was perfect. The old railway station has been converted into an accommodation complexe - without removing the charm and space of the arrival hall.
The rooms are very spacy, well appointed with all the mod cons and equipment one would expect. There is a large communal kitchen at the end of the hall which allows guests to cook their own meal - while appealing we decided to go and eat in restaurants.
Reception was very professional and friendly, with a staff member explaining the rules, showing us how to get in and out of the complexe, and readily providing answers to any questions.
Rooms were quiet warm (in mid summer) but a fan was provided to provide some welcome relief, beds were comfortable and the standard of cleanliness in the room was excellent.
If there is one suggestion for improvement I would suggest a bigger sign at the outside of the building. We did not realise that the railway station was our accommodation and drove a couple of times past it before we got the point that this is where we were meant to stop.
Parking is provided on a first come - first serve basis and is a very reasonable $16 per day. We certainly will recommend the facility to our friends, thank you.

Paid $250 for one night here. Which is way too expensive for what it has too offer. I would not consider this a 4 star hotel by any means. This is actually an apartment complex for the most part by the looks of it. It was quite noisy at night with doors constantly banging. Lots of funny smells and flickering lights in the corridors...
I think the price we paid was high because of the concert on nextdoor, so they jacked up the price because of that.
On a positive note,
Its location is excellent if you are going to spark arena.
The lady at reception was nice also.

A short walk from the train station and very close to the Sparks Stadium is the beautiful old Railway Station which holds the serviced apartments. We were able to get an early entry into our room at a small charge and were shown to our room by the friendly manager
Nice and clean with a well stocked kitchen with a small fridge, kettle, microwave and dishes and cutlery. The bed is comfortable with electric blankets, plenty of pillows. There is a fan and room heater and air conditioner and easy to use flat tv with good reception. The bathroom is roomy with a shower and toilet and sink with storage for toiletries as well as some supplied.
Entry to the guest rooms is secure and there is also a delightful Indian restaurant, Saffron , in the foyer as well a vending machine with cool drinks and snacks
Very happy to recommend the Grand Central Serviced Apartments to Auckland visitors

Booked it because it was closest to Spark Arena which it was. Like next door. The lady at reception was most welcoming and helpful. Our apartment was adequate and value for money. We stayed two nights a 15 -20 minute easy walk to the viaduct basin. Good restaurants within 10 minutes walk. Everytime we came in or went out the same lady at reception would great us and was very pleasant. Stored our bags after we checked out. When we talked about returning for another even at Spark Arena early next year this time traveling on a motorbike she was outstanding for advise on parking & safety. All things considered a good experience

We made an emergency trip to Auckland from the north and had to find accom quick! There was a room available so orang to make sure that we could check in late (note it does say 24hr check in) and he assured us that it would be fine! After I booked he called to confirm our arrival time and seemed ok with this! He then called about an hour later and 1st asked how far away we were when I told him still about an hour he then came up with a story about how the desk manager couldn’t find the keys and then suddenly and 11:30 pm someone else had double booked our room and arrived before us! Why were we not made aware of this in the 2 calls made previous to this last one! My guess is that suddenly they don’t want to check us in late after we had already organised a late check in!

All I can say is;
DO NOT STAY HERE!
Even the staff lock themselves behind bars at the front desk.
Photos on website didn’t match what I saw.
Indian restaurant next door leaves a constant smell of food, Spirits at said restaurant charged at NZD$20 a shot.
People noticed sleeping outside on the bench possibly used for homeless to stay the night as well.
Shouting heard outside after a concert at the Spark Arena next door

Booked for two nights and stayed for one. No refund or discussion regarding our concerns. Filthy, filthy accommodation rooms and actually the entire premises were disgusting. Serious lack of functioning lighting in all common areas and dismissive staff who deliberately pretend they cannot communicate in english.
Stay home or book anywhere else! You've been warned!
