Detailed Reviews
We came here for a night in the city. On entering you could hear water running and the toilet was broken. We phoned downstairs and someone came up within minutes. She couldn't do anything so switched off the water and phoned a plumber. When we returned at 9:30pm the water was running again. We ended up switching rooms. The location is handy but was very noisy on a Saturday night with people in the street yelling and singing until 4:30am. Also the master bedroom had a blind so was completely light when the sun came up. The room was very clean and close to shops and restaurants.

Hi Allena D, Thank you for taking time to post a review for us. It was disappointing to read that your stay with us didn’t meet your expectations. We have a very friendly team here and we always try to do our best for our hotel guests. We have noted your comments about the plumbing issue and have taken action internally. Unfortunately, the people making noise on the streets are outside of our control. We continue to work closely with Auckland City Council to keep disturbance to a minimum. For your next stay, we encourage you to book direct with us through our website to receive great offers and special deals. We look forward to seeing you on your next trip to the City of Sails.

Cannot speak more highly of Barclay Suites.
From making my reservation for our stay, to our actual stay, it was all very easy and we were well looked after throughout our entire stay.
Thank you Miku, for your reservation correspondence and getting us the best deal. The front desk Lady (I am sorry I do not have your name) for all of your help, and lovely warm welcomes and farewells as we came and went from the building.
A special shout out to Rahul and the other lady who was with you. You assisted us in our relocation moments after check in; as the room we had wasn't suitable for us (at no fault of Barclay Suites) and Rahul and his team worked fast to find us a better suited apartment. And they did not disappoint. Our apartment was perfect and made our stay in the big city a lot easier.
Barclay Suites is central to the cbd and was a short walk to the wedding we were attending on Fort Lane. It is equipped with all you need, a small kitchenette, bathroom and wash machine, towels and toiletries included, the rooms are king beds and comfy, there is a TV and sky channels which suited the men as they could watch their sports.
Not my first and won't be my last time staying in Barclay Suites. Thank you again.

From the time we checked in till our departure we felt welcomed. The desk staff were very helpful and attentive. Our room had great views of the Harbour. The room was spacious with good amenities and little decorating touches that made you feel at home. Super comfortable bed and plenty of towels. We had breakfast in our room and this was very good.
The central location was in easy walking distance to nearby restaurants, cafes shopping and the Viaduct.
Even with road works and construction outside the Hotel we didn't feel this was an issue for us as the parking was really close.
We would definitely stay again.

+1
1) Unsafe, with missing bolts on the balcony railing making it loose. Not ideal in a 20+ story building.
2) WiFi worked only in the lounge, not the kitchen, bedroom or bathrooms.
3) Booked a room with 2 king beds. Was given 1 double bed and 2 single beds.
4) Bedside lamp on both sides of the bed, but a plug only at one side. For some reason they keep the lamp there unplugged, with no possibility of plugging it in.
5) sewage-smelling bathroom, with plenty of mould. Not nice.
6) rubbish bins, rubbish, and vacuum cleaners left in the hallways. Not removed despite requests to reception.
7) reception often left vacant with personal customer details visible to anyone who walks in. Indeed, when I checked in and they didn’t believe I had made a reservation, they showed me the details of all the guests who hadn’t yet checked in that day to ‘prove’ I hadn’t made a booking. Note: I had made a booking, which the receptionist eventually recognised after I printed out the booking confirmation email.
Other than that, it was swell!

We made a reservation at this hotel because it is in the center of Auckland and it offered washing machines in the suites which we figured would be handy in the middle of our trip. The suites certainly did not have the view you see in their pictures, our first one overlooked a construction site where they started hammering around 6:30AM, the second one was a bit better; overlooking the subway construction on Albert Street. We had to change suites as the washer/dryer combination did not work in the first one, barely worked in the second one (it did the washing but not the drying). The included breakfast was marginal at best. An added problem is that the hotel is impossible to get to; we found it only with the help of the people working on the subway construction. Even though the address is Albert Street, one can not get to the hotel by car from Albert Street as the entrance is below street level. 2 out of 3 Uber drivers could not find it; the third one we had to guide over the phone as the only approach is from an alley from Queens Street. At night there are lots of homeless, some of them obviously psychotic around the hotel, some of them just winos.

We stayed here over the Christmas and New Year, the appartment had everything we needed for a 10 stay. We arrived around 7.30am and our room was ready for us, which was a bonus. It's very centrally located, most things within walking distance. The Sky tower is only a block away, harbour about 15min walk. On the door step you have 2 cafes, a pub (very good meals), a local convince store (a bit pricey).
It was a bit noisy; but most of that was due to the work going on to the new underground station, which will be excellent access for the hotel.
The suite was looking a bit tired and needed upgrading. They are advertised as service appointments, this was a bit lack, the toilet was only cleaned once, shower, basin and mirror never cleaned, vaccuumed twice. It seems the only thing done daily was emptying bins, replacing towels even when they were hung up to be reused and making th he bed even though we'd already done it.
We had problems with our electronic keys, and maintenance was not high on the agenda. We put alot of this down to it being the holiday period and may have limited staff on.
Even with all this we would stay there again.

We stayed here a few years ago and went back for another weekend away and was very disappointed in this hotel. We had to move the table and it was really dirty underneath it, the place is just starting to look tired.
We got woken at 7.00am due to major construction work right outside our room, why the hotel put people on the construction side and not on the other side of the building is beyond me.... sooooo disappointed about the noise (although not the hotels fault and we booked the room a year in advance...
We had breakfast in the room as this was included - a lovely breakfast thanks, but unfortunately there was not enough cutlery for everyone and had to go and seek some out...
Will not stay here again considering the price we had to pay for the room (and then paying another $35 for parking).

I must say our stay was disappointing, the sink was blocked in the bathroom, there was stains all over the coach, broken pictures and the door to the ensuite didn't close properly. There was a roll of toilet paper on the air-conditioning unit on the deck and when we got to the room music was blaring from the TV. To be honest we probably wouldn't stay there again as it was highly disappointing and felt like it was dirty and dinghy. The room was far below average and not worth what we paid.
On emailing this i got a less than pathetic response saying
"It was disappointing to read that your stay with us didn’t meet your expectations. We have a very friendly team here and we always try to do our best for our hotel guests. We have noted all your comments you have mentioned and have taken action internally."
I said it was not good enough and we would like a refund or part refund. They refused and I asked for the managers email several times and have been ignored.
That room was absolutely disgusting.
I am blown away how you can have such low standards and someone complains and it is completely ignored.

Whole fam enjoyed the stay, we chose Barclay Suites for its convinient location and reasonable price. Getting to your suite you're greeted by large sunny windows and the place was spotless. It was a great way to relax after our night out, very comfortable and warm the HVAC system definitely covers every corner of the suite. Everything we needed was there and made use of all the amenities. Special shout out to Manasa for the great housekeeping service 👌💯

We were excited to stray at the Barclay Suites for a family short stay holiday in Auckland. It is close to all amenities but rather sub-standard inside. The kitchen sink was blocked, the dishwasher and washing machine did not work, the oven was unclean, the rubbish bin lid was broken and the smell in the corridor on floor 11 - horrendous and permeating. We also booked for 5 people but only had plates/cups etc for 4. When the sink was fixed the dishcloths were removed and there was only one sachet of dish washing liquid for a 4 night stay. Not impressed, had hoped for the basics to be available and working.
The female receptionist was most helpful and got some of the problems fixed, which we appreciated.
There were ongoing road works outside which made it noisy but there is nothing the hotel can do about that.
