Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a good choice to spend a holiday with children, friends or with a partner. All the units have a kitchen and everything that it takes to make it a home. Two blocks from Ponsonby action and its delightful bakeries. Our room had views of the harbour. We had everything we needed to prepare our own meals and feel relaxed and comfortable. Great place!

I stayed here twice in 2011 and the customer service was amazing. The staff were very friendly and flexible with arrival times etc. We had a very nice private 1 bed room, with perfectly equipped kitchen. There was even a carton of fresh milk in the fridge upon arrival. Would def. go back.

I researched the Unicorn Motel as I had stayed there some years ago and had some fond memories. I was going to book in for 6 people but in the end did not make a booking as there was no indication of pricing on the website and when I phoned up no one could give me any precise information. I wanted to know what the cost would be before I booked so I was very disappointed in the lack of Customer Service and also they don't seem to be very interested in Marketing or encouraging people to stay. You would think when it was for 6 people they would at least try to be helpful. Would not bother to consider them again. Very disappointing.

Stayed at the Unicorn Motel from 22nd November to 25th November Father two children and elderly mother. The accomodation was good value compared to the major hotel chains. Beds were comfortable, kitchen facilities included full size fridge and stove/oven, microwave etc. Rooms are serviced daily, WIFI available. The location is very central, within walking distance to the Ponsonby Cafes and pubs and within a short 5 minute drive to to the city centre and viaduct. The host Hamish is very friendly and always accomodating. Free car parking onsite in most cases right outside your room is a bonus. I will certainly look to staying here again before trying other hotels.

Having left it very late on in the day to organise accommodation over the RWCNZ 2011, this little gem was great to stumble upon. Based only about 10 mins by car etc outside of the city centre, also very walkable (cheaper and helps you get your bearings better), myself and a friend took one of the spacious, clean and secure rooms.

An excellent rate as well given the hike up in prices for travellers and visitors over this super busy period for Auckland. The staff were massively helpful and friendly. It's a quiet little spot too and located very near some fab little boutique shops and cafes.
