Just back from 5 nights at Crab Cove - it far exceeded our expectations. Victoria and Dave couldn't have been more welcoming. Every morning a great breakfast was delivered outside our door which was a perfect start to another day in paradise. Crab Cove is a perfect retreat where you can relax a day away or easily fill it with walks, swims, snorkelling and more. While the owners are onsite your privacy is totally respected. While there is much to do and see from here we were reluctant to give up any time there! We just loved it and will most definitely be back.

Crab Cove is a unique hidden gem! The best the North can offer for character, beach access, privacy, vista and close access to local beaches that will blow your mind! Take that special person in your life and treat them to this cove hidden in the side of the hill. A sure way to secure a holiday of a lifetime!! Thanks Victoria and Dave!!

A truly incredible experience, everything about Crab Cove is amazing, and the surrounding area incredible. Dave and Torri gave us all the tips of the area that made the days be ones to remember we cannot rate this whole experience enough. Kayaks, swimming, fishing, hiking and local restaurants and then there is the cove. Nestled away in the side of the mountain with an huge telescope away from the World in one of the most amazing places we have ever been to. We are raving fans and will be back.

We booked Crab Cove for 2 nights for our 5th wedding & honeymooniversary, and immediately booked a third night (thankfully available) on arrival. We stayed early August - don't let the cooler months put you off booking, it was perfect. So much to love, but in short: spectacular & private location, exquisitely romantic, well-oriented cove for maximum light and sunset views, the cove itself is well-equipped (extra thanks for the fresh ground plunger & coffee) and comfortable, breakfasts were delicious, and last but not least hosts Tori and Dave were exceptionally welcoming and wonderful hosts. Highly recommend: taking the kayaks out around the bay & having a swim/snorkel, dinner by candlelight on the deck under the Milky Way, booking massages, in-house meals (so yum), & Kerikeri Markets. Somehow we ran out of time for a bush walk.. so.. next time! We are both well traveled and agree that this is as good as it gets. Completely smitten with this part of the world. Thanks for having us :) We'll be back.

I haven’t logged into my Trip Advisor account for years and have stayed at many places since my last review but I simply have to let everyone know what an absolute treasure Crab Cove is! I booked Crab Cove on a whim to surprise my hubby for his birthday. It sounded like the perfect place for a relaxing weekend away without kids, work etc. to worry about. We were not disappointed. Everything about this place is just gorgeous. From the stunning sea views and array of water activities available at the cute little private beach in front of the cave to the super comfy bed and massive double shower, everything is perfect. Breakfast was absolutely to die for! The hosts Tori and Dave have thought of everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay and they are full of helpful information about the area and everything it has to offer. I’ve been raving about Crab Cove since my stay and I would recommend it without hesitation to anyone wanting a wonderful couples getaway. My only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. If I could give Crab Cove more than 5 stars I would!

We had 2 amazing nights at the Crab Cove. The cave house is simply stunning. The view is amazing and just a short walk to the private beach. I'd recommend this place to everyone - perfect for a intimate couples getaway. Tori, the owner, was great and helpful. Thumps up!

My Partner and I have stayed at Crab Cove twice over the period of a year- this last time for a week. The owners Dave and Tori have thought of everything. Essentially they have created a studio (which is nicknamed the cave) nestled into the hillside. You have an open plan bedroom, kitchen and dining area. In a separate room there is a twin shower, toilet and annexed to that room there is a sauna. The kitchen has a gas cook top, fridge / freezer and convection type oven. The little touches we really appreciated – upon arrival: flower petals on the bed, bottle of sparkly in the fridge, fresh fruit on the counter and floral arrangement. The bed is very comfortable, fresh towels and robes are provided. All electronics are provided for; TV, stereo, selection of CD’s and DVD’s, hair dryer, heater and iron. Breakfast ingredients are provided daily and left outside the door in the morning and Dave and Tori are happy to provide according to your dietary requirements. For us it was bacon and eggs, apple juice and fresh fruit with yogurt - very yummy.. The Cave is elevated and northerly facing and the sea views from inside and out on the balcony are just simply stunning. I have been told but we never saw on our visits that often you will see dolphins and whales from the balcony. A short walk from the cave sees you at your own private pebbly bay which you can go snorkelling or swimming from. Dave and Tori also provide kayaks and life jackets - which we used a number of times and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the bays. The water is so clear and pristine at this part of the country so any water activities is a must. Also recommended is the walk to the Trig station at Mahinepua Peninsula – allow a couple of hours for this – and the views again are simply stunning. Cell phone coverage at Crab Cove is very limited which we saw as a positive as we didn't want to be contactable by our respective work places. This is very private accommodation and nobody else looks in on you. So if you like waking to the sound of song bird in the morning, if you love sea views, if you value privacy, if you are wanting a cost effective perfect romantic getaway for you and your partner, then treat yourselves to Crab Cove – highly recommended and one of the BEST places I have ever stayed at.

Wow what a beautiful spot! My husband and I stayed for two nights during our honeymoon and it was our favourite spot. Very secluded and peaceful, just what we needed. Dave & Victoria were so lovely and helpful. Victoria organised a massage for the two of us, and it was the best we have ever had. Having access to their kayaks, snorkels and wetsuits was terrific - couldn't keep my husband out of the water. Gorgeous spot, and will definitely be back. Laura & Glenn

I almost don't want to review Crab Cove, as its really a 'best kept secret' we'd rather keep to ourselves. But not to would be an injustice to the owners. As hoteliers and travellers we have stayed in many styles of accommodation over the years - but this self contained 'cave' apartment set in a hill side with a STUNNING view is the ideal get away from it all break - with world class standards. Everything is catered for - you only need bring food, and drink. Its truly away from everyone and everything - but if its peace and tranquility your after you can't beat this place. Breakfast provided (cook yourself), kayaks available, snorkelling & fishing and great local walks. One couple only. Sauna In room
