Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Reception was quick and very helpful. Concierge services were timely. Close to the city and surrounding attractions. The restaurant and bar options are convenient with the other facilities being available are a bonus. The hotel is kept well maintained with a high standard of cleanliness.

Upon arrival to the hotel we had to struggle to get our 4 suitcases out of the taxi and to also try and open the front doors whilst the concierge watched on and offered no assistance. Whilst checking in a group of air crew arrived and were assisted with their luggage and whisked through with the porter taking their luggage to their room whilst we were once again offered no assistance to take our luggage to our room. We were booked in to a club king room and expected at least a club check in and some extra service but obviously not! The room is large and very comfortable and clean but very dated and tired ,the bed was very good and the pillow menu was excellent. The club lounge service was excellent but during the day we went up and the coffee machine was turned off and no snacks except some stale cookies in a jar and water. The carpet was grubby with crumbs and the tables all smeary like they had rubbed a wet cloth over them and no staff present or even a phone to call reception. The pool area is very tired and at the back of the building with difficult access and very ugly outlook to concrete. The breakfast and staff in the morning was excellent with a great choice of food and friendly efficient service. We wouldn’t stay here again as we always book club rooms and expect a nice club lounge to relax in during the day with tea, coffee and soft drinks available and a staff member or concierge available in the lounge to assist .

Our family booked 3 rooms for our holiday in Perth. Location is good and within walking to most places. The best part of our stay was the breakfast buffet. The staff were excellent and range of food was good. Pity the great customer service of the breakfast staff doesn’t rub off on the hotel staff. On two occasions, all our rooms were without any hot water. The first occasion was upon our return from a trip to the Pinnacles and in desperate need of a shower, were all forced to have freezing cold showers. The second occasion was on the morning of our check out when we had to get a mid morning flight. Again, no hot water. A call to reception was met with a very rude response from the male staff member who told us to “just turn on all the taps and run them for 10 minutes. The hot will come through eventually”. Not having 10 mins to spare, and with a view that this was well below par for a (supposed) 5 star hotel, I asked to speak to the manager. The male receptionist refused to allow me to speak to the manager, or any other staff. I then politely asked for a phone number or email where I could direct my complaint about the lack of hot water. Again, he refused to provide any number or email and terminated the call. Completely unhelpful. Upon check out, I again raised the issue, but was met with a nonchalant response, fobbing off my inquiry. I later found an email and sent an email….no response. I rang the hotel again and was again fobbed off. So if you are after a hot shower between the hours of 10pm and 7am, don’t expect too much from this hotel. Further, the walls in the rooms were paper thin. One of our party could clearly hear every word of the neighbouring room, along with every word of the TV show they were watching. The beds were quite hard and pillows were terrible, although we did source better pillows from the pillow menu after the first night. We also asked for an additional blanket which required a follow up request hours after the first one was not delivered. For a 5 star hotel, we were left disappointed (apart from the breakfast).

The Duxton was a nice place to stay, we were upgraded to the Club floor which was a surprise but enjoyable. The beds were comfortable & the rooms clean. A handy location, lovely helpful staff. The breakfast is amazing with such a large choice. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for one night before an international departure the following day. Booked a deluxe king room using frequent flyer points. The check-in and check-out process was efficient. All staff were friendly and professional. I requested, and was given a quiet room. The room was very comfortable, and had a river view. I requested, and was given a later check-out time. It was a 10 to 15 minute walk to the malls/shopping area/railway stations. Not a problem if you didn't have much to carry, but the streets are not all flat so a bit of effort needed. Would gladly stay again.

What might of been a 3/4 star review is a two based on an unpleasant breakfast experience, poor service and a failure to include in what was clearly advertised as Breafast for two people and Valet... To be greeted and told that you do not have an included breakfast as per your booking and having to go to the front desk to resolve (which to be fair... it was eventually) then return to get breakfast and there for to be no available tables is outrageous for the non discount room rate of a city view suite. It ruins what was an okay stay and the lady at breakfast was incredibly rude... whilst it was fixed yes, it just leaves a bitter after taste. The location for the xmas pagent is great though, the suite itself whilst dated actually wasn't the worst in perth and was actually quite good. Door staff seemed attentive and reception for the most part was actually welcoming. Might I also add, and this wasn't just at the duxton, but when there is an event on, parking vehicles across the driveway so that people can walk between then is fine, but think about people with wheelchairs and prams... it is not an accessible hotel during an event and requires quite the detour to actually gain entry via the main doors! Anyway, you could do worse but you could also do a lot better in perth for the same $$.

Booked for a 3 day stay following the Indian Pacific train trip from Sydney. Very well appointed rooms. Ideal for a couple. Centrally located for 2 tours we had booked. Picked up a car from Sixt just down the road. Service was great. Would stay there again

Large comfortable room, very new upgrades. Bathroom has amazing shower. Toiletries are large pump packs attached to wall, so no complimentary toiletries to take away. Close to the Barrack St Jetty, so easy walk to catch the Rottnest Explorer. Breakfast is expensive at $45 per head for buffet. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Would stay again.
