Detailed Reviews
This resort presents nicely and should score better that we’ve rated it but is not conveniently located to either Broome or Cable Beach, falls some way short of the claimed 4 stars and the service can most kindly be described as patchy.
The good: we stayed twice at each end of a Kimberly expedition. First in a 1BR suite #43 which was spacious, clean, comfortable, quiet, bright, well-equipped and had a nice outlook over the pool complex. Next in a 2BR suite #114 which was much the same except for a less appealing outlook. The décor and furnishing in both suites are chain hotel/resort vanilla. Everything expected in each suite was there and it all worked as expected. The beds (all kings) were comfortable, the linens crisp and clean and we were each able to find a favourite pillow. The bathrooms were roomy, well-appointed, had good lighting and the water pressure was hot, strong and reliable. The front desk was efficient and at least some of the staff we encountered were helpful and engaging. The included Wifi worked on all of our devices most of the time. Included parking is in close proximity to the suites.
The not so good: the address may be Cable Beach, but the location is not on Cable Beach which is a kilometre away. Unless you’re a marathon walker or have a vehicle you will need a bus/taxi to get to town – or pretty much anywhere else for that matter. The furnishings in the 1 BR suite were some way past their use-by date but better in the 2BR suite; however neither of them answered to the claimed 4 stars. The bathrooms in both suites were overdue for renovation or at least renewal of the fittings which were hardly premium quality in their heyday but are now just scruffy. The Wifi went to sleep on a couple of occasions but that may have been due to a more widespread telecoms issue. The $25pp breakfast buffet is poorly serviced and completely forgettable and would be so even if it cost nothing. There are far better options in town or DIY in the suite kitchenette.
The bad: the service levels are very patchy, from polite, engaging and helpful to offhand and curt. We were not alone with this experience as we witnessed it with others, and it was the headline talking point among the group that we were with during our second stay.
Management take note.

Our stay has been very average at best, this resort is very dated and the rooms are not up to $400 per night standard, the bathroom is really dated and dirty with a shower screen that needs a good scrub and the towels are small and very old. The hotel itself is a long way from anywhere so you need to catch a bus into town which takes about 20 mins and it would also be about a 20 min walk to Cable Beach, there is a very nice new brewery around the corner with good food that is a godsend as there is nothing else close by and the resort hotel food is very expensive, the breakfast is very ordinary as well with not much choice on offer. This resort seems to suffer from a lack of staff and those that are here are obviously tourists with a lack of English and customer service skills. For us this has painted Broome in a bad light and if we came back we would certainly not stay here.

Recommend Oaks Cable Beach Resort for your next trip - work or play. Great facilities and proximity to Cable Beach is ideal as it’s a comfortable walk or utilise the localised service bus. Our rooms had all that we needed on hand and the location provided us with privacy - never heard the neighbours above us or next door. Fabulous bed and setup and bedding, with A/C and TVs in each room. Quiet surrounds and resort layout perfect for relaxing and recharging.
Will visit again soon.

Hotel's Favourite
This resort was close to Cable Beach (10 minute walk) and had a bus stop right out the front which made it easy to get to either Cable Beach or into town.
The multiple pools are amazing - huge, very clean and plenty of sun lounges. The grounds are lovely with lots of greenery.
Units are clean and spacious, lots of air conditioning and lovely outdoor balconies or deck.

Not the best experience in any way - The Oaks Cable Beach sells its self as a resort, which sadly it is not. It's poorly catered and is understaffed
Upon checking in, we noticed that the pool side restaurant and bar was not open, leaving you to cater for yourself if you wish to spend time at the pool.
The room was clean but basic and more aligned to a self-catering family style room, we had no spare power sockets near the bed for charging, so I went to reception to ask for maintenance to get us a power board and was told there was no maintenance - all they could offer was a two socket timer switch found in an office drawer.
That evening at dinner, we found the food selection was very basic, the prepaid buffet breakfast the following morning resembled school camp style with a basic selection of cornflakes, bacon, eggs and beans and some fruit. We had to wait in a line 10 deep to check into breakfast and when we tried to order coffee was told that was extra, but we'd need to come back because she was rather busy right now.
During breakfast, another guest pointed to a pile of soil scattered between the tables that I'd also noticed at dinner and told me that it had been there ever since he checked in.
It was at this pointed that we decided to find alternative accommodation and check out, as this wasn't even close to what we had expected.
For the luxury of this experience, we have been charged an extra day accommodation.
If you think the story ends here it doesn't as that evening at dinner in our new hotel we chatted with a guy who was staying at the Oaks who told us when they checked in they were given the key to a room already occupied so when they opened up and walked in they found the current guests gear already in the room.
Basil Fawlty would be proud of the way this place is managed and run

This place is located about 1km from Cable Beach, probably the most well known tourist attraction in Broome. In peak season this would be a brilliant stay as you could walk to the beach from this resort as well as all the quaint little restaurants littered along the way.
However, as we travelled this time around in the off-peak season most of the places were shut and only the more popular spots were open.
Oaks Cable Beach, whilst open for stays didn't really have much going for it in any other capacity. The pools were open but the restaurant was mostly shut and breakfast consisted of only one menu item, the big breakfast made up of your standard eggs, bacon, sausage and toast. Dinnertime didn't exist and neither did lunch, not that you'd really utilise it as most of your time might be spent outdoors.
The room was cosy albeit very dirty, we found about 5 or 6 cockroaches that had taken up residence before us and the shower had a few other critters saying hello as well. The outside terrace have up a good view of the gardens with a few wandering kangaroos about which was a scenic opportunity.
We had our own shared pool which despite the size was very conveniently located right in front of our room.
The main two pools were large and nice, a bit cool but you warm up after a while. The pools were clean and the sunbathing chairs were plentiful.
Overall I'd say to avoid this place in the off-peak season (anytime from November to April) as there isn't much to do and you'll be in for a lot of showers with the rain and humidity.
I'd say this place would be bustling during peak season and a lot of the services including dining would be back to normal.

This trip was origInally planned for my 70th last year but cancelled due to covid so I went on my 71st with my grown up son and daughter. Booked through qantas. Two bedroom unit looked spacious in photos but the twin bedroom was quite small. Rest of apartment was good. Nice garden outlook from back and the front took us straight to the pool. We were also not far from the main pools / restaurant but used the pool in front of most of the time. Breakfast was ample ($25 per head) and we could take fruit and muffins back to our room. Disappointed that because of staff shortages there was no lunch and or coffee bar service while at the pool. Also was told reception could book tours but they apparently only have access to book a couple of things! Happy hour was good as were the cocktails. Unfortunately the pools all close by sunset which is a shame as so warm in the evening and would have been nice to swim. Resort is a fair way from the town but there is a bus stop outside of the resort into town but we ended up hiring a car. There isn’t a courtesy bus from the airport so we paid $25 ea for the transit bus. Check in / out was quick and easy. All the units are owned by different people so some are better than others. I think oaks need to have some kind of check list to make sure every unit has plenty of crockery/utensils etc. ours was ok but I heard others complaining. Our washing machine ended up with water coming up through the dispenser. Unfortunately the Mop was useless - needs replacing Oaks. Only 4 hangers in the twin bedroom - we ended up buying a cheap pack at the supermarket and left them there. I would hope that with more staff Oaks could improve the rooms at this resort as it is lovely.

Really just a 2/3 star motel. Room clean but dated. Worst was there was no hot water in the shower in the morning. The swimming pools looked inviting but the water was freezing. Breakfast average and does not include coffee (additional $4 charge). Restaurant mainly selling burgers. Staff wet cleaned the chairs in reception a check out time (meaning guests waiting for taxis or buses had nowhere to sit). We were double booked and the hotel insisted that we pay the higher rate of the second booking ($586 rather than $423).

Rooms very old, have ingrained dirt and housekeeping also sporadic in terms of cleanliness. Our 5 day stay only had housekeeping twice, once to just made beds and change out bin liners, other time they came in the evening when we were using the room and not convenient. Floors were not clean, and no housekeeping on public holidays. Towels old and some were smelly. Pools were great though and staff very friendly.

The 2 bedroom unit was quite small and seemed to need some freshening up. Cracked tiles in the bathroom for example. Not much storage or shelf space in the bedrooms. Kitchen equipment was basic and not much was provided such as bowls for a salad etc. TV remote needed some sticky tape to hold it together. Access to the pool was restricted with a security card which was annoying, and not being able to access the pool after 6pm was crazy - it should be later say 8pm or 9pm. Overall, I thought it was very expensive for what was provided although the location and pool facilities lifted the experience.

I am not much of a drinker but I am sure there were people in there with esky's and the website states you can sit with a poolside cocktail.
