Peppers Docklands Melbourne offers a cosmopolitan stay with some guests commending its cleanliness and service, particularly noting the front desk's efficiency. While the hotel's central location near public transport and local attractions is popular among travelers, opinions on room decor and maintenance are divided. The atmosphere and amenities receive mixed reviews, though the comfortable accommodations are frequently mentioned. Although the food quality is appreciated, some reviewers find the pricing misleading and the sleep quality less than ideal.

One of the few hotels that made me feel like being an accorplus member was worth it. Great welcome. After a busy stressful day it was nice to check into a room which was the perfect temperature, dimmed lights, clean and refreshing linen great accor welcome gift sitting on the table, bottle of filtered water, gentle music playing on the tv. Its all these little touches that make a difference experience. Any hotel can have clean comfortable amenities etc but to actually listen to a customers request and being welcoming is something else. Even ear plugs were provided as I was doing shift work and needed to sleep during the day.

Does the hotel need a bit of a refresh in my opinion only the carpets (not that its not clean) but more i think its lifting and cleaned so much definitely needs replacing and rooms are so comfortable i didnt want to leave but it would be nice to have smart TVs to chromecast.

Now the breakfast ... the quality & freshness has been better than most of the accor hotels i have stayed in where the quantity was evident and sufficient to just eat but in a place like melbourne i pretty much would choose to go to one of the amazing cafes instead. At Peppers docklands the service was wonderful and prompt, pancakes and eggs made fresh to order food actually tasty and cooked perfectly so you dont feel like you are eating at a cheap buffet probably one of the only hotels i would decide to stay for the food.

Location and room was great, especially impressed that the room had aircon on and cooling down the room before check in.

Breakfast was good, but do not pre-book it via any platform as you end up paying extra for it. During our stay breakfast charge was $120 for 2 adults and a kid. Paying directly at the hotel would be 91 on the day, but if pre-paid the night before would have been another 25% off. So stay away from packages with breakfast included, they are supposed to be cheaper but are nearly double the price.

Unfortunately our child left his comforter in the bed in the morning and we did not realise until that night, we had to call the hotel to check with house keeping 4 days in a row, were promised call backs within 24 hours every time yet it did not happen. On day 5 we were told it was not found. That was unfortunate however the lack of return calls was the biggest issue.

The centrally located hotel is serviced by 2 tram routes out the front, restaurants, supermarket, Southern Cross Station, Docklands waterfront & Marvel Stadium located nearby. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Hotel room well appointed spacious for a family of 4. The room had sufficient space for all family members to watch tv in chairs. The balcony was an added bonus. We loved the large bathroom, large shower and a memorable shower head. The Queen beds were extremely comfortable. Tea & coffee station contained quality products, glasses & mugs.

We appreciated the pre stay information sheet advising of the limited onsite car parking, adjacent building works, hotel restaurant not operational the days we were staying and all hotel rooms have obstruction views. We were lucky that we could park our car on site, however we did note there is car parking buildings available nearby. We could not hear any of the building works. The pre stay information prepared our expectations & have time to plan how to feed the family without an operating restaurant onsite.

The hotel room and furniture is looking a little tired. Bathroom sliding door paint work damaged badly, toilet seat terrible loose and noise when sitting on an off it.

We would recommend the hotel for families who enjoy spacious comfortable rooms without all facilities operational at a reasonable price.

Disappointed!

We checked in late Friday evening to our booked King Suite for 3 nights, on entering our room we were met with a strong chemical smell, it smelt like it was covering a different ‘bad’ smell. There was also faeces marks on the wall in the bathroom, stained carpets and liquid marks splashed along the wall beside the bed.

We contacted reception and the kind gentleman was trying to be helpful and advised to turn the air conditioning on to try and air the room out. At this time we were told to relocate we would have to downgrade rooms as there was no more suites left, as it was 11pm we decided to sleep in the king suite and make a decision the next morning the gentleman was kind enough to add us to the breakfast list for the following morning.

We woke to the same strong smell and feeling uneasy we decided we needed to move rooms. We had to wait for another room to be prepared so we went out to enjoy our morning, when we returned to the hotel and checked into the new room we asked about additional breakfasts as compensation for having to be downgraded however the receptionist at that time told us we were only given that morning as the compensation and won’t be on the list for the following two mornings. We were very disappointed as we felt we weren’t adequately compensated for having to downgrade due to the suite being in poor condition.

On our final night we were met with excessive noise coming from outside the building from approximately 9pm- 4am. Vacuum truck, jackhammering, excavator banging and concrete cutting. I am very disappointed the hotel didn’t warn guests as I would have purchased ear plug and been prepared. Now feeling tired and let down I was very happy to check out Monday morning.

As a 4-5 star hotel we believe the standard should have been much better and would not recommend staying with Peppers Docklands.

Dear Kaysiew2024, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We sincerely apologise for the numerous issues you experienced during your stay. We regret that the initial room you were assigned did not meet our usual standards of cleanliness and comfort. The chemical smell and cleanliness issues you encountered are unacceptable, and we are taking immediate steps to address these concerns with our housekeeping team. We understand your frustration with the relocation and the subsequent downgrade. While we were able to provide breakfast as a gesture of goodwill, we apologise that it did not feel like adequate compensation for the inconvenience. We strive to ensure our guests feel valued and comfortable, and we regret that we fell short in this instance. Regarding the noise disturbance on your final night, we apologise for not informing you in advance. The construction was part of the Public Transport Victoria work, which we were not informed of. We understand how disruptive this was and will work on improving our communication to better prepare our guests for such events. Our Guest Relations Manager has reached out to you via email to further address your concerns and ensure a resolution. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we will use it to improve our services and guest experience. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with the high standard of service that Peppers Docklands is known for. Best regards,

Pleasant reception on arrival. Really large, clean and quiet room despite building work next door. On arrival we took advantage of the $22 breakfast. Arrived at breakfast to be told no toast, no pastries, no bacon, eggs and we would have to wait a long time for even a coffee. We decided to get a refund on breakfast and had breakfast elsewhere. The room had no teabags on arrival, the next day the teabags had still not be replenished or milk. An army of cleaners were busy cleaning rooms so I’m not sure why they were unable to refill these items. We have always been big fans of Peppers but I certainly wouldn’t come to this Peppers again

This is the most terrible experience I had with a renowned hotel chain. The hotel is severely lacking in their services and amenities. They leveraged Accor’s ‘Planet 21 Program’ as an excuse to cover their sloppiness and total lack of services, especially the house keeping. While acted according to their requirements where housekeeping services will be on request only, and we had requested for it (coupled with multiple reminders), the room remains unkept when we were back in the night. In the end, after we feedback to the concierge and insisted on service recovery, the staff had no choice but to provide minimum recovery i.e. to provide us with clean towels and cleared the rubbish in the room.

Separately, other services and amenities were lacking as well, e.g. no room services, bedroom slippers were OOS, only 2 hangers provided (and we had to request for more), poor wifi which was lacking, TV with not much options (and also auto-shut down on its own multiple times), poor position of the air conditioner (above the head side of the bed, ‘almost’ dislocated toilet paper holder and toilet seats, and so on.

While the hotel is well positioned with a tram station at its door, it does not compensate for the poor quality of stay.

We strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer and I can confirm that once this was brought to our attention, Higher Management was proactively in contact with you to discuss and rectify your experience. As an Accor Gold Member we should get a free room upgrade & late checkout till 12 or late depending on availability.

Checked in & the room was average at best. Had friends staying too who were not members & their room was exactly the same. So there is no benefit being a member.

I asked for a later checkout and Jason said we’re ‘almost’ fully booked. But couldn’t do past 11:30. Odd when check in is 2pm, plenty of time when a room turnaround is ~15mins.

The hotel itself: Dated!
From the lift (not knowing how long once pressed), to the hallway old stained & ‘vintage’ carpet odour, I knew the rooms weren’t going to be great.

The room was an odd shape, massive pillar in the middle which blocks the TV viewing which its placement is so random.

The shower is a dual handle, so harder to get temperature right, not like the modern singular ones (another sign of it being dated). With less than average pressure.

Decor was from the 90’s. And hasn’t been updated since.

We put the privacy hanger on the door but housekeeping ignored it and did the room, but didn’t put a new toilet rolls in, so only half did it anyway.

This hotel shares rooms with residents & the sound from outside isn’t ideal. If you’re a light sleeper, go elsewhere with new double glazed windows.

Our friends had breakfast & said it was a waste of money.

This is a 3 star at best. No wonder it’s one of the cheapest 5 stars in Melbourne. There is no way on gods earth it’s a 5 star. Someone’s had a backhander.

Accor have another hotel in Adelaide we stayed in, 4 star, which was hands down better. Cleaner & more modern.

I won’t stay in a Peppers again.

The pool is open pretty late which was good as our plane was delayed and we didn't arrive until nearly 10pm. Its in another building but they supply robes for you to wear over which is a nice touch.
The room was a decent size - we got a 2 queen bed with no balcony. Carpet looked very grotty and stained though, but other than that it was quite nice. Bathroom was big too but the shower head is a waterfall style and quite close to the wall - maybe when they renovate they could move it further out. The water temperature also varied when we used it so it wasn't consistently warm.
The room had a smart tv but it wasn't connected to the internet, so we couldn't cast a movie to it and just had to watch free to air tv. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great when we were there so it would have been nice to watch something we could choose.
We didn't have the breakfast as it seemed quite over priced. With a pre-booking discount it was $28 for adults and $14 for kids. In comparison my friend staying at Vibe was charged $20 for adults and kids were free.
We also didn't get our welcome drinks for being members as the bar was closed when we arrived.

Unbeatable location, check in staff were amazing and I was really excited, then we went to our room, rooms were adequate, one room had a stain drip through the room, looked like blood? Soap dispensers empty in showers so thankfully we had soap with us. I honeslty expected more from a Peppers brand, especially when they are trying to get me to join Accor program. The breakfast was quite possibly the worst I’ve had in many many years of hotel breakfasts. When we arrived we were told to “sit anywhere” except there was not a clean table, had to go back to get assistance to have a table cleared, bacon was cold, eggs were grey, I had to keep asking for food to be bought out as I was last to eat at out table and there was nothing left, staff kept coming out and checking the chafer dishes, over and over again as if magically food would appear, there is no organisation, 3 staff don’t need to look at the chafer dishes, someone clean the damn tables and take coffee orders. Someone clear the tables. The food people left on plates scream disappointment to the staff but no one cares. Overall I would say a 3 star hotel experience.

Like an aging footballer that expects a big salary based on exploits from years ago. Peppers still charges top dollar for very little service.
Upon checking in i was told the bar and restaurant were closed, parking was an extra $45 on top of an already inflated room price. The room wasnt dark due to its location backing on to the Docklands Stadium and to top off the already underwhelming experience the housekeeper let themselves into my room at 9:05am even though i was checking out at 10. Peppers pathetic. Find elsewhere that still understands they have to provide service and not just operate with greed in mind.
