Everything we wanted, well equiped kitchenette, fabulous bathroom, washer/drier, good sized bedroom, sofa, dining table and chairs and a big tv.
Secure on site parking is a real bonus and I have to say security was excellent throughout the property.
2 minor negatives, the join in the bed was uncomfortable and I would prefer a single queen mattress. Although I have stayed in acommodation where it was difficult to feel the join.
The other area which was a let down was the state of the corridors and lift which appeared not to have been cleaned for a week and certainly not in the 4 days we were there.
That said I would certainly stay there again and would recommend to family and friends

We stayed at RNR Apartments for 5 enjoyable nights in January 2020. The room was clean, modern and comfortable with all the amenities we required. A minor complaint was that the room seemed a little claustrophobic because of the close proximity to the building next door. Good value!

We arrived late Sunday 28th; reception was closed. We entered the apartment and found the following: - mould under the rim of the toilet, on hinges of the toilet seat - overall, the shower was not clean inc mould in the shower, soap scum up the glass door of the shower & covering the glass shelf in the shower - kitchen sink was not cleaned, inc the sink plug covered with brown stains, stove was not cleaned properly - balcony dirty with dust, pollution, etc - carpet in the hallway & lift was filthy; it looked like it had not been vacuumed for a month
I rang booking.com, spoke to a woman representative on the morning 29th to get advice on our situation & potential refund for the remaining nights. I was assured booking.com would refund our remaining nights, as we explained the situation, & that we felt unsafe as the apartment was so dirty & uncomfortable to stay in. I was told categorically that a refund would not be a problem. I asked the booking.com representative, especially if we left, checking out, we would get a refund for the unused nights, and she said yes. With that advice, we checked out & went to another accommodation. We had a very important business meeting at 11am & needed to arrive on time; we had left at 9am.
The booking.com representative tried to call the reception of R&R Apartments several times that morning while I was on the phone with her. She also sent emails to them. They did not answer the phone or reply to emails. We then packed up & left. We didn't shower as we felt so uncomfortable using the bathroom in the condition it was in. I went to the reception, handed in the keys, & told the R&R representative we were leaving, cancelling our stay, & why. I also told them that booking.com had tried several times to call & send an email. They claimed that no one had contacted them & they had been there since 8:30am.
They also refuse to refund the nights we didnt stay and have consistently lied to booking.com

We stayed in RNR North Melbourne several times before and we never had any issues till our recent 3-night stay in October 2024. In order to gain access to the room outside the reception open hours, RNR North Melbourne apartments requires you to send them photo of the credit card and photo ID so they can charge the $200 security deposit. Since we refused to send the photos of the credit card and driving licence for the security reasons, we were provided with the link to process the payment of the deposit which was completed on 22nd October. 3 weeks later, after the numerous phone calls and emails, this deposit has not been refunded yet. Also 2 days into our 3 nights stay we were locked out of our apartment as the key card stopped working . It took over 1 hour standing outside the building on the mobile to get the access to the room again. no one at the reception after 5pm)
Customer service non existing!!!

While the room overall was okay in terms of size and features, there were some really disappointing aspects. As soon as we walked into the room there was a horrific smell that was like indescribably bad in the whole place. The ‘balcony’ door had been left slightly open which makes me think they knew about the smell and left it anyway. No efforts had been made to use disinfectant or room spray and it was so awful that we aired out the room for hours and had to go out and it still remained for the entire stay so possibly in the walls or vents. There was no way to get assistance as no 24 hour desk. When I went to check out / discuss it in the morning there was no one at the desk despite it being 10 minutes after they were supposedly staffed.
I don’t like writing bad reviews so I would chalk this up to being random if it weren’t for the fact that the hygiene standards as a whole were lacking. The shower had plenty of mould built up, the carpets weren’t very clean, everything just felt a bit dirty.
The room had decent features overall and wasn’t toooo bad for the price. The only other thing I would say is it is a serious stretch that the room is advertised as a ‘city view’. The only way I could see any city would be to stand on a balcony chair on a specific angle to look behind the building in front. The balcony is covered anyway and the building is behind another building so i’m not sure how you could possibly call it that.

Situated close to medical facilities, shops and restaurants, clean and comfortable. Our booking, late check in and late check out was easy to arrange. Room was light, airy, clean and comfortable and Rachael on reception was very accomodating.

2nd time here. Reception went above and beyond helping me with accommodation. Self contained unit. So clean. Central to EVERYTHING. Walkable. Flat. Highly recommend it especially for Peter Mac treatments as it is 600m walk. Easily done.

These apartments are conveniently located being walking distance to the medical, university and commercial precincts of Melbourne. While our 2 bedroom appartment was quite modern and very clean nevertheless it was also very, very basic and despite their advertised 4 star rating it is nowhere near the league of other 4 star accomodation in Melbourne. The bedrooms are just a bed against the wall - look at the photos on line!; no bed-head and no fitted sheets. The pillows provide little head-support and there are no curtains to black out the city lights - so it's semi-light all night! If you are looking for paper-thin walls to hear the neigbours or the noise of corridor pedestrians, this is the place for you. Also, while the reception said we had a room with a balcony (implying there was a view), the balconies have fully frosted windows that you cannot see beyond the balcony - seriously rediculous and claustrophobic! (Customers need to be told "while there is a balcony, there is no view"!). The parking might be free but the tight carpark is difficult to navigate. Finally the cost is horrendous for what you get (or rather don't get). Your are better to stay at the Rydges or other hotels nearby which provide gyms, pools, restraunts, bars, etc, all within the same precinct area and with better facilities at a far cheaper cost per night. While the proximity is great the facilites / extras of these apartments are not!

Response from RNRMelbourne, Manager at RNR Serviced Apartments North Melbourne
Responded 21 Jan 2019
Thanks for the review Koala-Linz aka Dr Lindsay Carey. Sorry to see you were not happy with the accommodation provided. It is interesting that you chose to extend your stay with us after your initial booking – not sure why you would do that if you were so unhappy with the service and price. Strange also that your partner liked us on Facebook - you both appeared to be quite happy while you were here. I also note that you are a very active TripAdvisor reviewer and your default is a less than positive one – is this a reflection on us or yourself, or do I take it that because I refused to offer you a discounted price with the threat of a bad review you have now chosen to go ahead with your threat . It is also interesting to note that such an educated person could make so many spelling mistakes in only a few sentences.

We stayed for a week for Xmas 2018. RNR is an excellent location, quiet and lots of good restaurants and hotels near by. Easy access by car to our family in Ascot Vale. The Victoria market is within an easy walk and south Melbourne market quick by car, we went there Xmas eve.
