The Mantra on 100 Exhibition Street is well located for access to restaurants, bars and public transport. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Our one bedroom apartment was near the back of the hotel and despite being on a lower floor was reasonably quiet. The sitting area was quite comfortable but the kitchen counter in one corner of the room was a little cramped. It did not help that there was a whole range of “mini-bar” items taking up space on a breakfast bar and even worse quite a bit of space in what was a relatively small refrigerator.

The bedroom size was adequate and had a wardrobe with drawers inside. The bathroom had a shower over the bath which was slightly slippery so not ideal but manageable.
Overall room cleanliness was good.
There was a washer/dryer which was very useful to enable us to pack lighter and refresh clothes during the trip. However, a user guide or some summary instructions in the room would be useful. Maybe locals are familiar with these washer/dryer models but we had to try a few settings to get it right. However, in doing so we probably used more water and energy.
There were a few minor room faults (reported).
The one room feature I would have liked was a room safe.

This was a pretty special booking as it was for our wedding prep and wedding night.

Called the hotel to request for an early checkin, was advised that the request have been lodged, but come wedding morning, the room wasn't ready until an hour later

Also, upon checking in, we were advised that construction was going on beside the building. Didnt get notified while booking- they only advised after we’ve paid… Woke up from our wedding night at 7:30 am with such loud drilling noise to the point that the room floor was shaking. I realised that the room we were in was directly beside the construction site. They should probably not have put guests in that room, as the sound gets diffused a bit further away from that particular room.

Anyway, no special attention to detail even after i’ve advised of our wedding. Nothing special, nothing note worthy. Was happy to pack up and leave after that nightmare-ish morning.

The location is great for access to the city and the Tennis centre etc. Check in and out was easy, Room spacious and shower was not just a small square which was fabulous. Room had everything you need for a night a week or more, Mini bar stocked with necessary items and complimentary water. No restaurant onsite but many options close by or all you needed to cook in your room. Breakfast packs available to make your own or cafe next door sells coffee and muffins etc or 7 eleven on corner sells everything you need to cook your own feast. Parking is off site a short walk away.

Check in was pleasant with attentive front of house staff.

We booked the 2 Bedroom apartment for our family for three nights, check in Thursday, leave Sunday.
The rooms were neat but the kitchenette only had a hotplate as the only food cooking appliance.
The main bedroom door would not close properly and would open in to the living area.
The WiFi password did not work.
There was an odour in the main hallway leading to the room which was found to be a large bag of dirty laundry.
The hotel reception was called after 9:30pm (after returning from our planned activities) regarding the issues found but it was unmanned, the call was transferred to a call forwarding service that would email the hotel, any action undertaken would be when the staff started their duty after 8am.

By lunchtime following day the large dirty laundry bag was removed but slight odour remained, microwave delivered to the room as per published kitchenette description.
WiFi fixed by approx 7pm but very slow.

Following morning daughter found old chewing gum with a dead insect stuck in her duvet, we requested a full bed linen change but only a single sheet was dropped off at our room.
After a further call housekeeping came and changed the bed linen as requested.
An apology from the hotel was offered.

On the whole we would say the hotel experience was adequate, it would be a good base if your expectations where not high. As an Accor Group property our expectations were unfortunately high.

Very enjoyable stay, Lovely room, comfy bed, close to everything in the city. Reception staff were very knowledgeable and able to direct me where I needed to go. Next time I would ask for a room with a walk in shower, much easier with my arthritic knees, my room had a shower over the bath, but the water was hot and pressure was good, and the body wash was so nice, (I even asked if they sold it). I would stay again next time I'm in the city.

The staff were friendly and polite, the location is great, but it’s dirty.
We were provided with 3 water glasses (for a room that is supposed to accomodate 4 people), one was so thoroughly cracked that it’s about to fall apart. So we used a mug instead. The mugs were brown inside and it turns out, they weren’t just tea stains.
The white bathmat came up with black marks from the dirty grout (between the floor tiles). There were black marks on the walls and a grease (?) mark on the sheets…guessing it got caught on the wheel of a trolley.
We could see the view of the city when we stood up because we couldn’t see through the external dirt at the bottom of the window.
There was water damage to the walls in the bathroom (buckling) and were grateful for the cleaning products provided for the rest of the dishes.
Finally there was no wifi until the morning and with checkout at 10am this was next to useless for us.
It was cheap and we know why. If you don’t mind a bit of dirt, you like a good location and don’t mind dodging piles of rubbish bags outside you door on arrival and departure…this might work. We were disappointed.

Everything was easy! Speedy check in, speedy check out. Hotel was clean and staff were friendly and positive and the manager was cheery and shared a few jokes on check out.
Pre-arrival they rang to confirm our reservation and how we wanted the room set up, I mentioned I wanted to take our kids to a buffet breakfast the lady was more then enthusiastic to do some research for us prior and sent through an email ahead of our stay with options and recommendations.
We enjoyed free snacks and water in our room on arrival which was an unexpected suprise.
We have stayed at most high end hotels in Melbourne and this hands down far exceeded the service we have received at any of these hotels and was a fraction of the price.
The location of the hotel was amazing could walk everywhere easily with a 6 year old and a 4 year old that hates walking!
Will absolutely stay again.

Let's start with the good: The staff at this hotel were excellent - very friendly and helpful, very understanding of the problems caused by the renovations next door. This hotel is in an excellent location. It is close to several tram stops and lots of restaurants.

Now for the bad: Unfortunately the renovations in the building next door continued until MIDNIGHT!!! And then started again at 5:30am. The staff did all they could to try to get the builders to stop but it made no difference. I would stay here again if the renovations from next door were complete. It does seem foolish to sell the rooms adjacent to the building being renovated as the noise level is unacceptable. I requested a refund and the staff were happy to oblige.

Great location, good stay. We enjoyed our stay at the apartment. Airconditioning did not reach the bedroom which made when it was very warm very stuffy. No information into how to use the combined bath/shower. Microwave was placed on top of the fridge which was extremely unsafe for myself as I am only 5'4 and attempting to take hot items out of the microwave. No colander to drain pasta and the grater had a crack in it. More attention to these things would make the stay much more comfortable. I appreciated the call the day of flying into Melbourne to see when we were arriving so if we were arriving after there was no one at the desk we would have information when arriving. Great location - a quick walk to Woolworths and other restaurants/cafes and trams.

A very comfortable stay in Exhibition Street in Melbourne CBD. The Manta is within easy walking distance of the sports venues of MCG, Tennis Centre and AVaMI park.
Parking is at a commercial parking lot just around the corner in Little Collins Street for $30 for 24 hours.
Staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Importantly, the bed with choice of pillows was very comfortable

Yes there is a washing machine/dryer (all in one) inside the room. It is in a closet by the bathroom. They also leave packets of detergent for you!
