This hotel has been restored to former glory as a guest house. A continental breakfast is complementary. My room was confortable and cosy. The bathrooms were well appointed and cleaned regularly which was very pleasing. Compared to other backpacker type accommodation it stood out. The only thing that would improve the place would be a lift especially to the top floor if you happen to be lugging heavy suitcases. It is quite a climb up the stairs with heavy luggage. However it would need to be carefully thought through so as not to spoil the charm of this beautful building.
Creeky floorboards, dated decor and rooms, with helpful staff. Breakfast is basic and ok There is nowhere to park a car that doesn't cost a fortune so probably best not to have a car and transport into city is easy with tram or train. Lots of places to eat nearby There are no chairs in rooms and no space for one Value for money, yes. It's relatively cheap and it's clean, the staff are helpful so overall it's ok
Great location, close to South Yarra station. Lovely old building. My daughter and I stayed in a queen bedroom with ensuite. Super clean. But should have requested room like I’d read on TA! Toorak road is noisy. The door has huge gaps allowing in light and noise. We’re on the first floor so could hear footsteps of room above, typical of old buildings. For the price, it was great and without the noise-perfect.
I have stayed there few times. It is situated in heart of south Yarra. Just next to station few shops down. Surrounded by restaurants and shops. Very convenient and the price it self is very affordable. Nice and clean place to stay in budget.
If your not fussy and want to save money this place is good. Shared bathrooms but enough around. Morning breakfast is good. Very close to trams and train station which is very helpful. Food places nearby are good choices

Seek and ye shall find! Prahran is a treasure hunter’s paradise of vintage stores, upscale boutiques and emporiums. Chapel Street is a one-stop shop with specialty stores selling just about everything. The famous Chapel Street Bazaar has so many curious and vintage knick-knacks that you will feel as if you're in a huge and busy museum. By contrast, at the northern end of Chapel Street, South Yarra and Windsor
cater to high-end designer labels and exclusive boutiques. The community flocks to Prahran’s organic markets as a Saturday ritual, while art and film students leaf through vinyl LPs on Greville Street. The gay community also has a strong presence here. Prahran’s heritage buildings like the Reads Emporium and Prahan arcade offer a grand sense of scale and history. No matter your interest, come feel the pulse of one of Melbourne’s most loved precincts.
