Best Western Atlantis, Melbourne
This hotel is in a great position for getting around Melbourne. A 7-8 minute walk to Southern Cross Station and the Tram network, the bus/coach station is across road 5 minutes away.
The hotel itself met our needs and was clean and tidy. The reception staff were very helpful.
Our bedroom was large with a newish bathroom that had a wet-room for showering. Because this is a business hotel it doesn’t provide much storage space for long stay travellers so most of our clothes stayed in the case.
The Wi-fi worked well throughout the hotel and was free.
There were about 17 floors but the lifts were fast and efficient to get you to and from your room.
The hotel only provides a Continental breakfast option no other meals were available and there’s no bar for drinks.
One problem we encountered was with the room safe. When we arrived and tried to operated the safe we got a “Ser” (service) warning, we reported this and it was fixed, in the meantime reception offered the use of a safe behind the desk. The next day we found the internal mechanism hanging off the inside of the door with a loose screw inside the bottom of the safe. Again we reported this to reception but this time it wasn’t repaired.
Only for the safe problem I would recommend and use this hotel again.

Our Melbourne hotel of choice for over 10 years. Recent visit end March 2021; reception staff amicable/helpful. Hotel is perfectly located for Southern Cross Station bus and train connections. Our allocated room on 8th floor clean, and spacious. We particularly like the stainless steel electric kettles provided for in room coffee/tea. Dislike those plastic kettles provided in other hotels. Breakfast due to Covid was buffet, though assembled and brought to our table by a very cheerful server after we had ticked off our menu requirements. If anything our server was too fast in bringing our breakfast choices to us. When planning a visit to Melbourne usually compare prices etc with other hotels but ultimately choose the Atlantis.

We stayed four nights at this hotel. The location is great, a five minute walk from the Skybus dropoff and next to severall tram stops. It is also walkable to most attractions. Rooms are spacious, clean and very quiet. The gym is well equiped but there are no towels, water or disinfectant wipes. Breakfast is a very limited continental breakfast: cereal, toast, yogurt, aples, scrambled eggs and baked beans. Considering the price of the hotel compared to other similar hotels with a better breakfast, I think this hotel was still the best choice.

This is a great hotel. We just stayed the one night but would happily have stayed longer. The staff were fantastic, going out of their way to accommodate our requests. They were so welcoming, offering us early check in and a late check out. We booked a double room. It was spacious with a desk and sofa. The bed was extremely comfortable and the recreation facilities were first class (pool, sauna, gym). Breakfast was excellent with eggs, baked beans, toast, yogurt and cereal (as well as the usual juices and tea / coffee options). The hotel seemed to be brand new (really clean throughout). I will definitely stay here again if I'm visiting the city. The car park was a great bonus and well worth the charge ($20 from check in until 4.00 pm the next day). The location is great. Even though it's not right in the CBD, there is a tram stop right outside the front door, Southern Cross station is about 150 metres away and it only takes about 10 - 15 minutes to walk to the heart of the city, if that suits instead. Based on the standard of this hotel, I would have expected to pay at least $50 more than we did for the room.

I stayed here for 3 nights as I went to the Australian Open, checkin was a breeze fast elevator to the 6th floor very spacious and clean room and bathroom, great aircon which you can change the temp to suit, it did have a window which just faced a wall but I knew this before I went so I was not expecting anything different. The location is great for the open you have to walk about 8-10mins to catch a tram to the AO but that was simple enough besides you can stop at Coles and buy your food and drinks on the way. I also liked the simple things like the luggage scales which are free to use, you can fill up your drink bottles with cold water, They even put my water bottle in the freezer for next day. I didn't have the breakfast but had a look and it definitely was worth $15 scrambled egg, beans, bacon, toast, cereals, coffee and juice I highly recommend this hotel also the room was so quiet never heard any car noises, lift noises or people shouting etc

Location: Good location which is located opposite Southern Cross station.

Rooms: Bed is comfortable, but the furniture and carpet are old and worn. The bathroom does not have a proper door or a shower curtain to divide the dry and shower area.

Staffs: Front desk staffs do not communicate well, telling us the breakfast was $12 per pax upon checking in, and when we checked out they said the hotel just changed the pricing to $15 per pax, so ended up paying more than what was expected. Also, we accidentally left our electric kettle in the room when we departed, called the hotel and described it, paid the postage for the shipping and ended up receiving the wrong item. We called and the staff responded with rude attitude insisting that item was what we described. Sent an email to ask if we could at least get a refund for the postage paid, and we are fine if they can’t find the electric kettle, but they did not even bother to reply at all.

Breakfast: Don’t waste your money on it.

The entire room smelt of cigarette smoke! Called reception to advise them of this and they had a go at me asking why i didn't tell them earlier. I advised them that i left my bags in the room and went out for the day. The lady at reception did not seem pleased. I was moved to a new room, however there was some mechanical noise outside all night which made it hard to sleep.

Customer service was beyond pathetic. Location is quite a walk from Bourke street mall (20 mins) - Would definitely avoid this 'hotel'. Won't be staying here again.

We have stayed on several previous occasions. So naturally we’re happy to try again. Hotel is looking very old and neglected. Carpets in all areas. Lifts. Hallways and rooms showing wear but also very dirty. Reception staff friendly however room was average.
The doona on the bed appeared to be a double in a king size cover so covered 3/4 of bed. We stayed 2 nights. Room service almost non existent.

Bed ( doona pulled up ). Sheet still crumpled and doona still at 3/4 of bed
Towells. Fresh towells were provided but dirty towels pushed to one side under sink

Location is good. Close to transport

But over all was very disappointing and don’t think we will stay there again

Atlantis management put profit ahead of people during the global COVID-19 pandemic.
I was due to stay at the hotel 3 days after the Victorian Government announced a state of emergency due to the coronavirus crisis. Upon contacting the hotel to cancel my booking, I was advised by staff that I could not receive a refund or even credit toward a future stay due to hotel policy. This applied to all that made a booking through a third party over the same period.

Hotel staff and management failed to act in good faith, even when approached by a third party on my behalf, whom I had made the booking through. I verified whether other hotels in the city were offering a refund or credit, and after contacting some personally, I was advised that prospective guests who had to cancel bookings were being reimbursed (such as the Grand Hotel which is down the road from Atlantis).

At a time of panic when the last thing we needed was to worry about being treated fairly, Atlantis failed to act in the public interest.

Take this into consideration if you are considering staying at this hotel.

I booked this Hotel because it was the best value at $110/night, with a no-refund rate, but can cancel and use another night though. We were going to see the Live Musical Stage Show “Moulin Rouge” at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne. But l was very pleasantly surprised how modern and high quality this hotel was generally. The foyer of this hotel is very modern, the rooms are as well and quite large considering the value. People staying at this hotel have free use of modern pool, sauna and gym, parking is available for the day you arrive and the full day leaving for $25/night, continental breakfast is available for $25 each, includes bake beans and scrambled eggs for our breakfast. If a more elaborate cooked breakfast is wanted, there is a suitable cafe just across the road at Spencer St. Hotel next door to free CBD trams to all CBD areas.
