The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne garners praise for its luxurious amenities, which include a lavish spa, an expansive pool, and superb dining options, as well as for its serene and modern atmosphere. Its rooms are celebrated for their spaciousness, modern decor, and breathtaking views, although occasional service issues are noted.
While the hotel's location receives mixed reviews for not being in the CBD, its overall cleanliness and luxury are often highlighted. However, some guests feel that the value for money can be improved, given the premium pricing and the expectation of impeccable service, which has been described as excellent by many, but occasionally inconsistent.

We went with high expectations for this staycation given the brand and cost of the room and everything went well!
It’s a treat getting to check in up on the 80th floor and the level of service was there from the moment you walked in, with the entry door being opened and someone there to guide you to the lifts to check in.
Both the room and bathroom were quite large, fitted out in soothing dark hues and materials. The large desk in the room would be handy if any work had to be done. Our room was on the 65th floor and overlooked Marvel Stadium and beyond - great views. The bathroom was beautiful and relaxing with Diptyque toiletries and a deep soaking tub.
We had dinner at the lobby lounge because the bar wasn’t open and we didn’t feel like a fine dining dinner at the restaurant. Service was really pleasant at the lobby lounge and we enjoyed a bottle of wine and dinner of snacks which I thought were generous in size and very tasty! Likewise breakfast at Atria the next morning was relaxing, tasty and a perfect way to start the day.
We stayed as part of Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts and all benefits were fulfilled (although I’m not sure of a room upgrade - potentially an upgrade of the view).
The only improvements I could think of were the pool was really icy making it hard to enjoy, despite it saying it was heated year round. Also I rung guest relations twice and they sound a bit lost/unsure both times.
Overall, a great stay making you feel like you’re a million miles away, high up over Melbourne.

The lobby on the 80th floor with panoramic view of some of the highest skyscrapers in Melbourne was impressive. The highest Hotel in Australia and the newest in Melbourne is really amazing. Our room on the 65th floor, the lowest floor of the top 17th floor of the 80 floors sky scraper, has amazing panoramic view over the Marvel Stadium and Docklands Waterfront, especially at sunset the orange hues of the sky is veru beautiful. The room we got was also quite spacey even with one dinner table with 2 chairs and one coffee table with long sofa. Also we have to thank the receptionist for giving us the room although we arrive early at 7:30am while the regular check in time is at 3pm. All room and services were good, just that we might have chosen the wrong breakfast, the toasted sourdough was dry and hard with the skin very hard to break let alone to chew. I think the chef should learn how to make better more edible toasted bread. The location of the hotel is also not in the CBD, but still got many public transport 3 to 10 min walks from the hotel.

Melbourne has, as one would expect, a lot of expensive 5 * hotels… however most fail (some quite dismally) to really reach a level of luxury and attention to detail found internationally and that justifies the (usually extortionate) price. The (relatively new) Ritz Carlton changes that dynamic and completely delivers the goods. Check in is faultless, the room is beautiful, with gorgeous views over the bay. Everything in the exceptionally well designed room works - including the stereo (which connects remarkably easy to an iPhone). Bath has the view and the shower is huge. The toilet is also in a separate room which is nice change. King sized bed extremely comfortable.
The spa / massage on the 64th floor is so good that we went back the next day for another go. Pool is huge and a great area to relax. Gym brilliant and there are separate sauna / steam / jacuzzi areas for men and women. The bar serves stunning cocktails - each one of which has a story behind it, and the in house restaurant (Atria which I will review separately) is easily one of the best places to eat in Melbourne.
In summary this is a great place to stay - Melbourne finally has a serious contender that rivals the big names in HK and Singapore.

Soaring high above Melbourne, its tallest hotel offers an unparralelled experience. You will be warmly greeted in the lobby on level 80 and the views are as spectacular as you would imagine while the process is seemless, and enjoayble. The rooms are decadently appointed, spacious, offer amazing views day and night with bathrobes that scream absolute luxury, you wont want to take them off. We were on 74 in a harbour view room which we loved.
The food and beverage, whether it be room service, breakfast, bites in the Lobby Lounge and Cameo bar or dinner in Atria are all scintilating. Executive Head Chef Mr. Greenlaw delivers fresh local produce with tantalising flavours both bold and understated which will have you salivating for the next bite. The meal quality is equally matched by the F&B teams service lead by Director of F&B Mr. Vernes. It was so good we couldnt pick a winner from the burger, club sandwhich, chips, vine ripened tomatoes, brisket bagel, jamon mmelette, fruit platter, fruit toast or mousse......and of course the juice, spaciality coffee, pinot noir and champagne were divine.
The pool and spa are what dreams are made of, luckily we had a whole day to spend in there. The night we stayed was their highest occupancy since opening and yet it felt spacious, calm and completely seemless.
Above all the trappings, it really is the staff at The Ritz Carlton Melbourne that deliver a purely magical experience. They are professional, engaging and no matter their role, they talk to you openly, candidly and warmly. Meeting the Hotel General Manager, Mr. Page, at breakfast, its easy to see why.
We will be back!

Used points to book one night and check out the newest addition to the Marriott Bonvoy chain. Reception is on the 80th floor on Spencer street across from Southern Cross train station. Location isn’t great given it’s so far from the top end of town. Views are fabulous and without doubt some of the best in Melbourne. We had a nice room, called a Panoramic room, marginal upgrade given I am lifetime platinum and current Titanium Bonvoy member. It always irks me that Ritz Carlton, don’t offer club lounge access, breakfast as an option rather than points, but heck what about a couple of lousy drink vouchers. A note and a small bar of chocolate in the room is as minimalist as one establishment can get. So despite the Ritz being new, the views lovely, and the rooms excellent, value for money is poor, and no recognition just sends a message that the Ritz Carlton chain doesn’t value loyalty.
There are plenty of other Bonvoy options in Melbourne, where recognition is excellent, value for money excellent and location closer to the best restaurants and cafes in Melbourne so much better too. I have tried this hotel and it’s an easy decision to not return.

We came to The Ritz for High Tea. WOW!
Up on the 80-something floor, with views to die for, impeccable service and sensational food offerings that looked like exquisite art on a plate.
This was a surprise for my mum and sister who were equally delighted with the experience. Our menu’s were printed in envelopes with our name on it, cutlery for every course and crisp linens, it is one of a kind.

We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful hotel. A special thanks to Simone at reception who is a real ambassador for the property.
The rooms are very spacious, well appointed and clean. The views are sensational. The pool and spa area is outstanding and was kept clean and well stocked at all times.
The staff were always helpful, polite and willing to assist whenever needed.
Our only negatives would be the lack of standard operating procedures. The inconsistencies in the turn down service was annoying. Please standardize this service, you either do turn down and do it properly, or don’t do it at all.
The restaurant for breakfast also lacked procedures to maintain consistency. Food items presented differently morning to morning, ingredients missing from dishes and inconsistent charging when on a package. This needs SOP’s
The food available in the lobby was also of lower standard than other offerings in the restaurant.
A couple of chess/backgammon boards wouldn’t go astray in the lobby and lower lobby.
All in all a wonderful stay and we would definitely return on our next trip to Melbourne.
Thanks team!!

Closed outlets, out of stock drinks and slow service describes my stay here.
I had high expectations but alas the RC Melbourne delivered service way below them.
Firstly I had several meetings in their lounge as their bar was closed on Mon and Tues and restaurant only open at night so I had literally no where else to meet people.
The lunch menu was minimal at the lounge, the dinner menu even smaller. Bizarre to give people less choice when they have meetings here and have no where else to go! Plus don't they want to make money?
During my meetings the service was incredibly slow. Half the time the staff couldn't locate food and drinks and just seemed to be wondering around in a daze despite their being staff around but who knows where they were when I needed them, not in the lounge.
Several times I had to ask reception if there was anyone to service me in the lounge. They said "of course" and I said well that's not my experience so far, why have I waited 20 minutes to place an order for drinks?
I would end up ordering multiple drinks at the same time as the wait to get them singulalrly was so long to get drinks!
In one of my meetings the hotel ran out of lager! How can the RC run out lager?
Later in the same meeting I asked for a lychee martini, not exotic, pretty standard martini, to be told that the RC did in fact not do lychee martinis as they had no lychees or lychee liqueur!
To his credit the manager Josh went to a local shop bought some lychees and came back and delivered a pornstar martini with lychees as he couldn't ind lychee liqueur.
He seemed embarassed that the hotel couldn't even meet my basic drinks expectations let alone exceeed them.
The rooms were nice but there was only a sofa with a desk to work from not a proper deck with a proper chair. Bearing in mind this was a business trip and there was no where else to work it wasn't ideal.
I was also surprised that the shower gel/shampoo etc was not easy to use.
I am also a Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador but as per the RC's policy I was not allowed into their club lounge. Given the above experiences though which I complained about you would think that I would have been but nope...
Overall I didn't feel that I was treated at all specially and actually felt that the hotel delivered an expericne that was way below what other RC's do and far below my expectations.

From the moment you step in the door the hotel oozes luxury and serenity. One of the quietest hotels I have ever stayed in and it is beautiful. The views are to die for and your every need is cared for. Great staff and one of the best breakfast from the 80th floor. We will definitely be back

Although the facilities of the hotel are beautiful, we experienced a list of problems during our stay which made us think another hotel would have been a better choice. Curtains and light switches in our rooms didn't work. The pool and spa water heater was broken one of the two days we were at the hotel. Although the Marriott website says that connecting rooms are available, they are actually not (I was told they only have some limited accessibility rooms connecting via a strange common hallway arrangement). The mobile key system was only half working and in-app chat was not available. Some simple requests we made were never done despite multiple calls and promises they were working on it. Other little things were happening, like the elevator emergency call system being stuck on. I will add that the food and beverage options at the hotel were truly excellent so that was a highlight of our stay. The rooms and pool area are stunning but I think this hotel needs some time to fix its issues to give guests the full experience they expect from a RC.
