Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The best hotel in Melbourne, without a doubt. From the lovely lady welcoming you at reception to the detailed and luxuriously appointed rooms. Everything is thought about here. I've now stayed twice and think it's my favourite hotel (potentially one of my favourites globally). Check-in was so super efficient. They had already prepared my room and keys. I was on my way in 2 mins and recognised as a returning guest. None of this fake “Is this your first time with us?”. Rooms are fitted out to a very high standard of finish. The pool and gym are also very impressive. The entire hotel also doesn't seem overly busy. I was there for work, and it was immensely relaxing. A big well done to the team on this property, and thank you for not cutting corners on the public spaces and fit-out. People who know notice it!

Wonderful service, accommodations, amenities, service and location. We just returned from a trip to Melbourne and enjoyed our stay at the Ritz-Carlton. You enter from the art-decorated floor level and take the elevator to 80th floor for reception, same floor as their restaurant and lounge. Guest rooms and public areas are attractive and modern in this new hotel. Service from the staff uniformly friendly, helpful and professional. Fantastic views, and convenient to attractions in the Melbourne Central Business District

Melbourne has, as one would expect, a lot of expensive 5 * hotels… however most fail (some quite dismally) to really reach a level of luxury and attention to detail found internationally and that justifies the (usually extortionate) price. The (relatively new) Ritz Carlton changes that dynamic and completely delivers the goods. Check in is faultless, the room is beautiful, with gorgeous views over the bay. Everything in the exceptionally well designed room works - including the stereo (which connects remarkably easy to an iPhone). Bath has the view and the shower is huge. The toilet is also in a separate room which is nice change. King sized bed extremely comfortable. The spa / massage on the 64th floor is so good that we went back the next day for another go. Pool is huge and a great area to relax. Gym brilliant and there are separate sauna / steam / jacuzzi areas for men and women. The bar serves stunning cocktails - each one of which has a story behind it, and the in house restaurant (Atria which I will review separately) is easily one of the best places to eat in Melbourne. In summary this is a great place to stay - Melbourne finally has a serious contender that rivals the big names in HK and Singapore.

Stayed in Aug 2023 for 2 nights. Pros: -Location is great in my opinion. It's right across the road from Southern Cross station. -Bed is really comfortable, at first I thought it was a little soft but then because there's a topper underneath, when you are sleeping it feels like you are sleeping on a cloud so I had a great sleep. No problem with the pillow either. -Plugs on each side of the bed, and usb ones too. -Standing shower with the rainhead is so good, the pressure, the water, it's great. And they have pump style body wash etc which is handy, instead of those little bottles that some other hotels have. -Bathtub was good, there's no view, it's within the bathroom area but it's nice. No real head rest though. Loved the bath salts. -View from the room is good, you are very high up and we had a view facing more towards the queen vic/zoo area of Melbourne. -Breakfast quality was good but it's only a la carte and pricey of course. Service was good there. -There was a complimentary chocolate on arrival in the room. -I like how there is a little dining area in the room partioned slightly behind the tv wall. -if you are into coffee they have a coffee machine in the room with pods. There is a kettle for boiling water too and a few bottles of water. -Swimming pool is open 24 hrs and it's heated...Maybe a tad too much, you walk in and you feel a little like you can't breath but you settle down. 1 degree less or maybe just some air circulation in there. It's nice though. They have towels at the pool area. -wifi was fine -they have a turn down service everyday unless you choose not to have it. -bathrobe in the room was nice feeling, made of microfibre i believe so it can get a little too warm but it's nice. -they have a sauna/steam room and whirlpool with jets, i think that area closed at midnight. They provide towels in there too. And shower cubicles and hair dryer etc, lockers to change. -they have a gym with a good view. -Overall the service was good. Special shout out to Sylvio, Celina and Gracy Lee i think her name was. Really really nice people and helped us out. Overall i'd give it a 4.8/5 Cons: -no room slippers when we checked in and we looked everywhere. We had to call to get them. -a minor thing but there was a card upon checking into the room that had another persons name on it, they had swapped someone else to another room and didn't take it but they sorted it out. -Elevator system is a little annoying, as in if you want to go to the ground floor you have to take the lift to the lobby first at level 80 and then change lift and go down again and vice versa. -the whirlpool in the shower/sauna/steam room area with the jets was not working. It only operates during certain times which we were not told by any of the staff and when we brought this up, even they didn't know the times it operated. Something they need to make their guests aware of. We went twice and each time when we pressed the button the jets were not working which is the point of a whirlpool. Even though the area is open until late, that facility doesn't work past a certain time, maybe 8pm. We were still not very certain upon check out. -the entrance to Ritz Carlton can be a little tricky to spot, it's behind these big doors that are not super obvious. I guess it can be good, makes it feel a little more exclusive. Shoutout to the doorman who kept opening the doors for guests. -Lobby is a little smallish as in there's not many seating areas there. There is a lot of seats and table on either side but they are for the restaurant patrons I suppose. -No buffet if that's what anyone is looking for -no one offered to bring our luggage up to the room. Even though we didn't care actually, it's just something to note if anyone is particular about that.

Silvio cossu was the best person we've met from the beginning of our stay back in July. Our honeymoon stay was upgraded and gave us more spacious room than our original reservation. He addressed all our concerns in a very professional way. Silvio is a valuable asset to the hotel and I wish him a very successful career. Diego in the entrance lobby downstairs was the gate to happiness, he treated us like royalties. Diego is an exceptional employee who helped us to get wherever we want and showed us exactly how a welcoming should be. The Vietnamese lady working with Diego downstairs "forget her name" also was the most cheerful person I've ever met, she always escorts us to the elevators section like VIPs. Loved the hotel very much ! And I wish to stay here again and again !!

This was my 17th Ritz-Carlton property I have stay at and just WOW! This property exceeded all my high expectations from design, to service, even putting many other luxury hotels to shame!! The Ritz-Carlton Melbourne, the newest and undoubtedly the best hotel in the city, offers sky high views from both the 80th floor check in and from our room on the 75th floor. Silvio, a true gem in their management service team, made our stay exceptionally memorable. His attention to detail and personalized service went above and beyond, making every moment special. We can’t thank you enough and do hope our paths will cross again. A very special note of gratitude goes to GM Antony, whose leadership clearly shines through in the seamless operation and the impeccable service standards maintained across all departments. Thank you for your kindness and making time for us. Dimitri showcased the hotel's restaurant with a warm and inviting tour. Charles at the front desk was also excellent. Also special thank you to breakfast staff, Chris, Peach, and Lewis, who ensured our morning breakfast was perfect in every way and took time to visit with us. This experience has set the bar very high, making Ritz-Carlton Melbourne a shining star in the Ritz family and one of my new favorite hotels in the world! Can't wait to return!

Perfection ✨ So new and aesthetically, the most stylish design and decor throughout the hotel but, especially the rooms which are amazing. Breathtaking views, electric blinds and black out curtains, spectacular bathroom, makeup room, separate toilet and large living area is only surprised by the art and super comfortable bed. If there is one thing that doesn’t quite work…it’s the TV - huge flatscreen but it’s in an odd position and the pull out bracket is a little wonky. However, the rest of the room is beyond first class. Breakfast was another spectacular view, stylish decor and an outstanding menu. The Spa and pool areas, also…beautiful and peaceful. This is a hotel for solo travellers, couples or business travellers. Not for families really and frankly, small kids running around in what feels like such a luxury adult space seems odd. 12/10, fantastic service and I’ll be staying again!

Came for a night away with my husband for my birthday. We booked a club room to indulge ourselves a bit and were totally spoiled. Started with lunch in the lounge, the most delicious prawn sandwich, you must try it. The most stunning unobstructed views of Port Phillip Bay, Mornington Peninsula and Docklands. Our room was very spacious, extra deep bath, huge shower, large comfy beds. We were able to take some nibbles from the club lounge back to our room to enjoy. Pate, terrine, biscuits, cheeses, olives. Perfect. Afternoon swim, pool temp was just right. Afternoon tea and the start of cocktails. Great choice and quality of drinks in the lounge, we sat for a few hours and watched the sunset. Decided not to go out for dinner as the snacks on offer were plentiful. Oysters, prawns, beef cheeks plus lots more. Dessert was a bit disappointing after the offerings during the day. A few cold treats, but still tasty. Ice cream or a warm dessert would be a great addition. We had a very luxurious stay, all the staff were very welcoming and we chatted with a few in the lounge. The whole experience left us wanting to come back very soon.
