This was the first time I had stayed at the Travelodge at Docklands. The reception person was most helpful and even offered me an umbrella as it was raining. Although I arrived ahead of the 2.00pm room availability deadline she did check to see if a room was available. I would prefer a 6.30 am start for breakfast on weekdays but not a deal breaker. Bed was comfortable and I did not hear any noise from a nearby concert at Marvel stadium. Room floor could have been vacuumed on the weekend but not a major issue.

Super conveniently located directly across the road from Southern Cross Station, and around the corner from some very nice restaurants, Travelodge Docklands was excellent value for money, clean, comfortable, and staffed by pleasant, professional and helpful people.
This was my first stay, but it absolutely will not be my last! My new home away from home in Melbourne!

Second time staying at Travelodge Docklands after a few years hiatus. Great location, especially if going to Marvel stadium. Less than 10 minutes walk from the Skybus depot (most time is spent going up/down escalators/lifts. Even closer to Southern Cross station. Close to public transport in general. Hotel hasn’t changed much over the years, still very welcoming and clean. Since I arrived so early in the morning , the receptionist stored my luggage & told me that if the room was ready before 3.00pm, she would ring me, which she did. Had a corner room, which had a large window on 2 sides, so plenty of natural light. The room has the comfort that is required. Bed & pillows were comfortable. Even has a little couch to chill on! The 2 negatives would be, on day 2, despite placing the tag on the door asking for my room to be made up , as I was out the whole day - it wasn’t. Rubbish bin full, towels were wet & needed to be replaced. Therefore at 4.45pm I asked for someone to just empty the bins & replenish the towels. Couldn’t be bothered getting the bed made. The other negative was breakfast on Monday , I arrived at -8.00am, the pancake machine was empty, juices were finished - both were replenished after I mentioned it to the staff, however they didn’t replenish the mini croissants, given that there was still about 1.5hrs left for breakfast. Minor negatives, however needed to be called out. Pleasant stay.

Bed was extremely uncomfortable, hard and uneven. Pillows were awful and there were not alternatives to chose from. Shower head was nearly falling off. Not all lifts working and as they are tiny and very slow it took ages to get up and down from room and there were lines for the lifts most of the time. Door stop in bathroom is dangerous and we both hurt our feet on it. Cleaners started vacuuming in the halls at 7am.

For the fee one would expect clean bed linen, room vacuumed and toilet cleaned. We had to clean the toilet ourselves. Costumers should not have to ask for clean linen or rooms to be cleaned. Bins were emptied and there were clean towels each day.

It was comfortable and affordable but very hard to sleep due to the double bed being two singles put together and the incredibly loud noise from the street (trains and traffic etc) even on the 13th floor. There was a long wait to check in and check out and the process could have been so much easier if they had just sent out whatever form they needed filled out beforehand. Same with checkout. They had my card on file so why could I not just drop my key and they charge anything needed to it, instead of making me wait behind 8 other people. Extra cleaning was needed in the hallway and more attention to detail in replacing items used (ie toilet paper or facewashers). If travelling alone, you may feel more comfortable elsewhere as there was no chain on the door and security could be much better (I won't specify exactly for security purposes but have given feedback to the hotel directly). It's close to train station so you can walk 5 minutes and then travel onwards very easily. I would stay again if given the same cheap price but there are easy things they can improve upon that would make this a 4 or 5 star review.

I stayed here this month as I needed a room for a couple of nights and it had a late checkout the day I had a committment in the afternoon. To put it mildly, Travelodge Docklands was one of the most disgusting hotels I have ever been in, and I have stayed at a fair few cheaper places (and even holiday parks). The housekeeping staff are either poorly trained, don't care, or are overworked.
This is during the era of COVID, and they have some ads on their website about their cleanliness.
Photos attached but: 1) There was a hair on the floor of the shower 2) The floor of the shower was sticky when I had a shower 3) There was grime and mould in the crack on the outside of the shower 4) The couch was dirty with smears on it 5) The curtain was disgusting (see photos) 6) The chair was also unclean 7) There were some crumbs in the fridge
I have previously had good experiences with Travelodge (Wellington) but this was terrible and I doubt I will be back to a Travelodge in the future as a result. I suggest that you implement further training for your housekeepers, set some realistic standards and then enforce them
If there is one thing that I care about when staying at hotels (I hadn't planned on needing to stay at a hotel but had to due to my apartment not being ready) it is cleanliness!! No-one wants to go on a staycation or vacation to Melbourne if this is what they face.
Otherwise:
The location was handy to the train station which was good, make sure you use the lift by the Nine (tv station) headquarters The staff were nice (Mary was friendly and helpful) I like how you can book a 1pm late checkout WiFi was insecure and improperly configured, and they try to make more money off it with plans to increase data or speed
I would not trust this location again though, no matter how cheap.
They are advertising specials at the moment on booking.com and other locations but I recommend you stay far, far away from this hotel

To think, the last person who stayed in the room had washed the bowls and mugs in the same place they spit, shave etc. travelodge provide liquid and scourer and left my cereal bowls and mugs pile up for multiple days. Not until incomplain did they rectify.

Very close to Southern Cross Train Station. Cannot hear the road at all, very airtight windows, not openable. Bathroom exhaust fan was a bit noisy, cannot switch that off, but if you close the door to the bathroom, it does not interfere with sleep. Power sockets work, a bit awkward location for charging your phone though. Very friendly staff. If you need some food urgently, there are snacks at reception on ground floor and restaurant at one of the upper levels. Very fire-proof building, protected lifts, can be used in case of fire or other emergency, and sprinklers inside the rooms as well.
