Detailed Reviews
The views from this place are great, the bed is very comfortable the only down side is that maintenance is not crash hot, in the room we had on the 61st floor the door to the washing machine had quite literally come off its hinges, so the door was bent and really needed to be replaced, the other down side is there is no onsite parking and the deal that you are offered cost $30 per night. The positive side is that the tram is right on your doorstep. The building is secure as you need a scan key to get in and also to use the lifts. Overall this is a handy reasonably priced place to stay whilst in Melbourne, even more so with the Vic Markets across the road, great staff at the front desk, we even received a call prior to our arrival checking on our estimated arrival time so that was a nice touch, if you are planning a stay in Melbourne and are looking for a self contained unit at a reasonable price this is the place to stay.

I stayed overnight, mid week in a 1 bedroom Sky apartment. I was called by reception about noon to see when I was arriving and was warmly greeted when I arrived at 2pm. I was allocated an apartment on the top floor (69).
My apartment faced east and had stunning views, you could see from Royal Parade right around to the Shrine. Great views were had of the Royal Exhibition Buildings, State Library and the city skyscrapers. The apartment was spacious and sparingly furnished, but generally well equipped. There were some signs of wear and tear (pretty common in serviced apartments) and the sofa had a large stain on it- I reported it to reception on check out and they were going to have it cleaned, so hopefully it should already be gone. The apartment was very clean otherwise and the bathroom was particularly clean. There were two televisions, the one in the lounge was huge and a smaller one in the bedroom. The bed was very comfortable and had good linen, but there were no bedside lamps so you had to turn off the light near the door. Even though I was 69 floors up I could hear nearby Metro tunnel works at night, but it was muffled. There was a small sunroom with a chair in lieu of a balcony- a nice architectural touch.
The location would definitely suit those wishing to self cater- Queen Victoria Market is just a block away and Aldi, an Asian supermarket and Woolworths Metro are even closer and I can recommend the BBQ Pork across the road at the Rose Garden. A few minutes walk takes you to Melbourne Central Shopping Centre and Station and then you can walk undercover through Emporium Shopping Centre directly into Myers or David Jones.
It you want an excellent location, space and great views, you will be well served by Imagine Lighthouse.

Upon our arrival we couldn't open the main doors to the building need to call reception.
There is no parking as we drove to the city I was directed to drive 2 blocks from the building and then carry our bags, that added an extra $160 to stay no reason they can't make a deal with the car perk for people who stay there. Used the washing machine in the room it sounded like the room was shaking felt sorry for the rest of the people on our floor.

We were impressed from start to finish. Pre-stay emails were answered promptly and requests granted. Check in was friendly and efficient.
The location is terrific: within the free tram zone, close to public transport, Melbourne Central, Queen Victoria Market, shops and restaurants.
Our one bedroom sky apartment, on the 69th floor, was simply but comfortably furnished. The attached private sunroom, with floor to ceiling windows, offered spectacular views of the city and right out to the bay. The fully equipped kitchen also provided tea and coffee making provisions. The bathroom, although small, had ample storage space, a rainwater shower and basic toiletries.
Complimentary internet was plenty fast enough.
The speedy check out went without a hitch.
Taking all this into account, the Lighthouse is definitely good value for money.

This establishment is largely a student hostel masquerading as business or tourist accommodation. The apartment was very sparsely equiped with no hairdryer (although one was provided on request), bedside lamps or dvd player. We were provided with one towel each for a week and even had to buy soap for the shower and cleaning items. It was not cleaned properly with used tissues beside the bed and hairs on the pillows. The rug was so dirty that we rolled it up for length of our stay. Dissapointing to say the least!

The flat is spacious and clean, although the table and chair in the living room could be cleaner. The location is quite central and only a few steps from loads of restaurants, groceries and with the Queen Victoria Market. However, the service is way below average and they seem to try their best to be as unfriendly as possible. They don't provide any information about your stay e.g. Housekeeping, safe & security, etc., and they also charge $50 of you lose the room key and $25 for the umbrella. I get why charge this fee for the umbrella, but the card is a total rip off. It's a very basic plastic card and they could definitely have a penalty fee, but something more reasonable and aligned with the replacement costs. Obs.: I didn't lose any cards or umbrellas, just found the fee to be extortionate.

Pros:
Location, right on Queens victori market
Trams within 200m
Cons:
Absolutely filthy housekeeping, we were told they do light house keeping. But hiousekeeping was juts non existant. We were 3 couples and an infant staying for a week and they would just change towels and clear trash, thats it.
Even after complaing they didn't bother to upgrade there services, for 2 days even trash wasnt collected.
Dishwashwer stopped workin on 3rd and they could fix it for next 3 days.
We were told they get the dishes done when we arrive but alas, we arrived from great ocean road at 11pm and our sink was full of dirty dishes.

Property is located in the northern end of the CBD, near Queen St Markets and near Chinatown. Communication from the property was fine. Apartments are a bit tired, cheaply built and therefore wearing quickly. Stains on carpet, scratches on all walls and furniture, slow lifts. Beds however were comfortable and it was relatively clean. Requested a late check out for which we were charged $20 despite the double - triple rates already paid to be staying over the Aust Open / Aust Day long weekend.
Overall, fine but don't need to stay here again.

Arrived at the hotel and was greeted by a lovely man who gave us information and wished me a happy birthday.
Entering the lift I immediately noticed how dirty and smelly it was. We had a room on the 68th floor. The lift opened and the hallway was also filthy. Crumbs and dirt throughout.
We entered our room to a musty smell. Finger prints all over the pantry door. It just did not feel clean at all.
There are 69 floors in the building (so obviously a lot of apartments/people). 4 lifts in the building and only 2 lifts were working. At one stage during our stay we had to wait 10 minutes for a lift to arrive.
On our second day we arrived at reception to gain access into the pool to be very rudely told by Serena that the pool was not working and there had been an “incident” however the kids could use the spa. Entering the pool area 90% of the floor tiles around the pool are loose and are an EXTREME hazard.
Once returning the pool key to Serena on reception we asked her if we could have extra towels to which she rolled her eyes at us and handed them over!
We decided to check out early as we were extremely disappointed with our stay here. It was not relaxing either as you can hear everything in the hallways/room across.
When we checked out we were thankfully serviced by the male. He explained that the pool had been emptied due to maintenance which wasn’t ideal due to it being school holidays so lots of kids staying there and missing out on using the pool and he apologised. So Serena had lied to us about the reason the pool wasn’t operating in the first place!
We were offered a possible discount if we were to book again which I can assure you we will not be and will be advising our friends and family not to stay here!!

Dear Trevor
Imagine Hotels and Resorts run an accountable and professional accommodation service with 24hour onsite service via reception desk in the lobby for a select collection of apartments within 442 Elizabeth Street building being Light House. This is a completely different business to IF stays where your friend has booked and thank you for the confirmation you did not stay with us. They manage a small amount of apartments on behalf of some apartment owners within the building and as you can see are not accountable enough to list themselves in this forum. Only they can list it, Tripadvisor is not able to create one on their behalf even though I think this would be a great idea.
Whilst I would love to somehow influence them to compensate your friend for your dissatisfaction unfortunately I am not in that position. I would suggest her to call them to discuss so you can come to an agreeable outcome. If you wanted to raise concerns regarding the way they are operating then you can certainly do so via her booking avenue (which I assume was online?).
For your reference, I am certainly not denying responsibility as it is clear that I really don’t need to and I certainly won't plead for you to remove your review. It is your prerogative to believe that venting your unhappiness with the apartment booked and managed by another provider, IF Stays, on our listing is fair and reasonable.
You may even want to talk to Tripadvisor regarding this as they refuse to listen to us about the negative feedback we receive, all from people staying with other providers. Your friend can even post a review via the website she booked.
I am more than happy to speak to you or your friend via phone to assist in clarifying any issues you may have. It is certainly one building but there are multiple operators within the building and listing online as available to book, which can be fraught with danger to the unassuming booker.
We are very comfortable and confident in what we offer our valued guests and know that they leave very happy indeed.
Warm regards
Maris

Thank you for your question
There is no parking onsite but we do have an arrangement with a provider nearby for $30 per 24 hours including unlimited exits and entries. Should you need to book parking and are staying with Imagine Lighthouse we will happily make the necessary arrangements upon arrival.

HI there
I am sincerely apologetic for the lateness in reply. Yes, the building has a pool, spa, steam room and sauna on level 8 along with a gymnasium.
