Booked a 2 bedroom apartment after buying a Groupon. Having read the description and seeing the photos on the website we were looking forward to a great stay. Sadly, the booking experience should have alerted us to what to expect. After 3 telephone calls and 4 emails, we eventually secured our booking but no mention of the parking space we had requested. A further 2 calls and 2 emails and the parking was eventually confirmed.

Arrangements for check in were sketchy and not at all smooth. You have to phone them 15 minutes before arrival and someone meets you in the building while you leave the car on the street, if you’re lucky enough to find somewhere to park temporarily. You are then given keys and told where to park. There is free Wifi and a pool and gym, but you aren’t told about these on check in. We only found out after phoning the 1300 number to ask about these services.

When we got to our apartment, after waiting nearly 15 minutes for the lift to arrive, all looked in order. These new apartments have cream carpets, or at least they were cream once. They were badly stained. The cup I made a coffee in had a crack all the way down which I didn’t notice until it started leaking. The hairdryer was missing as (we were told later) the previous guest had stolen it. The floor to ceiling windows make for great views from the lounge and bedroom, but when we wanted privacy after dark this wasn’t to be had. The blind in the lounge was missing and the one in the bedroom was broken, so we had lights and partying from balconies in the adjacent building all night and when we eventually got to sleep were woken with the sunrise.

I called Melbourne Serviced Apartments before we checked out to raise my concerns and was told by the man who answered that I should put my concerns in an email, which I did. After no response I resent the email then sent another email 3 days later after no reply. I eventually got a reply, after phoning again to ask why I hadn’t received a response, and was offered $75 discount off my next stay, which I declined, as after the poor stay and bad customer service experience I refuse to pay for further disappointment.

We stayed in a deluxe 2 bedroom ensuite bathroom apartment with free Wifi . Each bedroom had Queen size beds, which were very comfortable. We also had a kitchen with all the utensils you needed, a washing machine and dryer. We were supplied with a small amount of tea, coffee, milk - nice touch. We then had to replenish our own supplies, which was fine. The apartment overall was nice and very close to lots of cafes/restaurants, crown complex and had a Woolworths Store on the ground floor. It was a short walk to Flinders and Southern Cross Railway Stations. We had a customer and an on site manager number. There was also a point of contact at the Zen lounge as well. Our greatest disappointment was the inability to contact anyone on the numbers provided. Essentially calls made to those numbers were generally unanswered. We left 7 or 8 calls and received only one call back. We did get hold of one person however, overall the service was less than perfect. In brief our issues were a broken ironing board and two bedside lamps on arrival. The instructions with keys indicated WiFi instructions would be provided in the apartment. This was incorrect. We rang on a few occasions (not all calls returned) and then had to speak to two separate people before we were able to receive our WiFi. No instructions for the disposal of rubbish. In fact no instructions at all in the apartment. We also had a leak in the 2nd bathroom near the toilet no response for two days. Disappointing overall.

THE GOOD

We had a 2 bedroom unit on level 44 for 7 nights (3 adults - room 4408). The views over Melbourne and the bay were stunning. Beds were very comfortable as was the lounge. Microwave and dishwasher were fitted and a dining table and 4 chairs was also provided. A washing machine and dryer were in a small laundry. There was a fully enclosed 'verandah'. A large TV was provided although it was a cheap brand and often failed to respond to the remote - there was no Foxtel but we did get an excellent rate. Everything was clean and tidy.

Toilets and showers were clean although insufficient toilet paper was provided and needed to be requested. Only 1 towel each was provided and more were requested so we could use the pool with a dry towel.

THE BAD

The blind had obviously broken in the main bedroom and had been removed - it was hard to sleep after 5:00 a.m. with the light streaming in. A fix was requested but not provided.

The windows leaked in the lounge room and both bedrooms! My wife had to dodge the wet carpet to get in and out of bed. Also, a blind that let light into the second bedroom had no cord and could not be adjusted.

We had problems with the entry door and had to request assistance - the fix was to lift the door as you closed it - however, no maintenance was done to remedy the problem.

The apartment was separate from those managed by the front desk and you needed to call a service line for assistance - the service was always courteous although they failed to provide a fix for our missing blind - even a sheet would have helped.

We believe the property may be less than 2 years old and the leaking here and in other suites was known to our service representative.

The only plus to this hotel is the location.
The furniture was filthy, stained and broken. The carpet is the same. The bathroom floor hadn't been cleaned although the bathroom and kitchen facilities were ok.
We were on the 46th floor gorgeous view but unfortunately the windows were so dirty it was difficult to see out. The lifts are extremely slow and one was shrouded in canvas but still in use.
I had emailed the property requesting parking, but on arrival had a very abrupt receptionist who sent us on a wild goose chase looking for the other car park.
This cost me $150!
I was lucky to ask another receptionist the next day, who gave me hotel parking free of charge as compensation for the terrible state this 4 star room was in.
My booking included breakfast, I didnt manage to locate a dining room!

Whoever decides what defines a luxury hotel, needs to review their policy.
Over priced, misleading ads and photos.

Terrible service - totally disorganised we waited hours after normal checkin time (2pm) to try and check in. Still waiting at 7pm. Communication extremely poor - rang them many times with no answer and no call back. We only had a number to call -could not get into the building which is an apartment building and you need a code to enter. You have to pick up the keys from a Liquor store. When we were trying to get our keys there were 2 other groups who had booked also waiting. The 'owner/manager' who I eventually spoke to on the phone was extremely rude and became abusive when I complained about the lack of communication and wait time. He told me it was normal to have to wait for hours to check in and that I was a very rude demanding lady who should shut my mouth. NICE customer service!

I stayed at your Platinum Serviced Apartments on 45 Clarke St, Melbourne and I must say I am absolutely flabbergasted by the service received and condition of the room.

I requested early check-in at 12pm and with full understanding that this is not guaranteed, I believed the manager on site would do his best to accomodate. I was sorely mistaken. Not only was your site manager uncontactable, but when he was finally reached, it took him 23 minutes to tend to us. I say 23 minutes because I requested to stay on hold with your 1300 number until he finally decided to show up. With no introduction at first, his initial comment was not to talk to the front desk as they are not there for our service however they were a lot more helpful than he was. Your manager then continued to tell me that check in was at 2pm and couldn't even demonstrate basic customer service as he did not bother to open up my booking/request.

I then decided to go and get breakfast with a friend when I got a call at 12pm from your 1300 number saying our room was ready. I explained I'd be there soon and will contact when I'm closer which I did and had to wait yet another 30minutes for your manager to bring our room key.

When my friend and I finally got into the room, we were welcomed with stains. We had multiple stains on both beds and so I called the 1300 number where I was advised someone will come and change this ASAP. Best believe that did not happen. There was a throw over blanket in one bedroom which had what seemed like a tomato sauce stain dried up into a nice ball.

Thankfully we got through the first night without any rashes or allergies.

On the second morning, my friend was welcomed with a lovely goodmorning by a metal piece hanging out of the bed which left her bleeding as she was getting out of bed. Regrettably I did not call anyone to advise them of this OHS concern as I received such appalling service on the first day and night, it seemed as if your company and employees are not phased by this.

I am so disgusted and shocked that a somewhat highly rated servcied apartment can provide such low and dissatisfying service.

Please note, I will be taking this further as well as to social media as I do not want anyone else to have the same experience as my friends and I.

Kindly review your business structure and ensure all employees share the same vision as that was not at all demonstrated by their actions.

To start with the place is out of the Free Tram zone, its a bit of a walk from the end of the free tram zone to the apartment. Second check in was a nightmare. I informed them of my flight details & when I will be arriving at the apartment. When I arrived the lady at the front desk (Who was not very helpful) said I need to contact the booking agent for the keys. I called them & they said they had left for the day. I then had to email a copy of my credit card, this is not very good security, they now have a photo of my credit card on file. If you did not have a smart phone with access to emails then you could not check in. The internet was very poor in that area, it took almost 2 hours to check in, it was faster flying from the Gold Coast to Melbourne than checking in. It took so long that my children were asleep on the lobby lounge. Finally after checking in they gave me the pin code to open the letter box to get the key, the pin did not work, they gave me another pin this did also not work, then a third but did not work. In the end I woke my daughter & she put her hand into the letter box to get the key. When i finally got to the apartment, no tea or coffee, no information booklet on the apartment or Melbourne, no password to the internet. I called the agent again but they were not answering their phone, I had to wait until the morning to get all the details. The place was dirty. there was food on the lounge & under the cushion. we were supposed to stay 4 nights but left after 2 & staying at another apartment block close to the train station for the other 2 nights. This was the worst apartment I had ever stayed in. Keep clear of this place.

We booked the executive two bedroom apartment because it was written the area is 90 sq meter. The apartment is not that big, I doubt the written area. The living room size was fine and we were lucky to have a nice view. The bedrooms are really small and smaller than double beds in other hotels. The main problem is its very unclean. The shower corners are very trash. Pets are allowed in the building and it seems that some one was letting his dog to pee and poop in our balcony. When we told the manager, he said I saw some one letting his dog pee in the lift! Please check the photos.
The building doesn't have a reception. Or it has, but they can't help you. It seems they work for the permanent residents, not the serviced apartments. So check in early is not easy. One good advantage besides the view is downstairs Woolworth supermarket. As a family with kids, we benefited from this a lot. Sometimes the lifts are slow, in the check out day, we had to pay the taxi more because he waited for us half an hour to come downstairs and we were ready, just waiting for the lifts. Its not always that bad though. Its slower in the mornings.

Thought the ~$220 USD 2-room apartment would be worth it. It was absolutely not. Never any staff at reception, no answer on manager's phone line or email. No supplies delivered, and door lock, washing machine and showers were all malfunctioning, and the hotel staff gave no response through our enquiries to them via email. Will never stay here again, and won't recommend anyone to stay here as well.

Guests who book direct are given the higher floors. You would need to request this before arriving.

Hello! I think when you 'check in' they already have an apartment selected for you, so you would want to request a high floor when you make your reservation. I cannot remember exactly, but it seemed this building probably had 30-50 floors in it. I know it had enough to have elevators designated for certain sections. I can probably ask my kids & they would remember how many floors! Just know that 'check in' isn't like most places. You have to let them know when you'll be there & they will meet you & that would work very smoothly. But if they don't meet you, it is rather difficult. If it isn't at a time for them to meet you, make sure you get instructions beforehand, (including where to park & which space number) then it wouldn't be so bad. You will have to stop around the side for someone to get keys & garage remote before you can park.
