Wrest Point is best known for its tower but there is also a 3.5 star wing in the original low rise motor inn. We booked here due to a 6am flight in the morning and being Dark MOFO Hobart accomodation was pricey. We got the Winter warmer deal for $179 including a $40 food credit which suited us as we wanted to eat at the bistro.

The room was quite spacious and well decorated. The bathroom is small and had a funny step up shower. They give you hot chocolate and tea/coffee. We slept well overall and were able to check out early with 24 hour reception.

These are not luxury but if you can get a good price worth considering. Lots of free parking on site.

We stayed 2 nights on arrival in Hobart. Clean, tidy and basic.
Quiet space but needs 2 way access through the back entrance to the carpark
Interconnecting doors need to be upgraded between rooms to block light and sound.

If you're in Hobart for business and Value your rest, book a better room. Overall the room is clean but very outdated. The bathroom is from the 80s, there's a "shower over bath" setup that's not meant to be used by anyone over 170cms tall. The bath is a joke and it's literally 50cm*50cm and barely 30cm deep. The walls are paper thin as I can hear everything. The bed is essentially a box spring mattress that offers no support whatsoever. The saving grace was that the breakfast room service is punctual.

Staff were very friendly but the room itself was outdated and extremely dusty. I could not wait to leave because of dust, dust was around the room, you could see it in the air and wake up tasting it. The breakfast buffet also disappointing. Unfortunately I would not go back. I think the Motor Inn is separate to hotel so the hotel could be nice.

Our stay was ok though not great. While I understand it is budget, the motor inn section leaves a lot to be desired. Be sure to request a ground floor room if you have mobility issues or have a pram etc as there are no elevators. Our room was very basic, unfortunately when the shower in the room above us was on it leaked water through the roof of our room and into our shower (I did inform of this when we checked out so hopefully it gets fixed). Very long wait to check in with no where to sit. Overall average at best and probably wouldn’t stay here again.

Rip off, beware. Had to cancel due to Covid and they refused any refund when it’s obvious that we cannot travel. Nice way to treat potential customers. Didn’t care what the circumstances were, just refused to discuss

Good location within 15 minute walk to restaurants, bars and shops. Hotel room was a good size, nice and clean and very comfortable. A well stocked mini bar with a nice view of the water and street. Bathroom was very small with the shower over the bath so that was my only fault with the hotel.
Checking in and out ran very smooth and staff were all very pleasant. Well worth the stay :)

It’s a good place to stay in Hobart. We stayed 2 days right in front of beach. Nice views, casino inside and best buffet breakfast. Love this place in heart of Hobart. Rooms are specious. Toilets need more cleanliness. There is no exhaust fan in the toilets. Except toilets rest is good.

A pretty ordinary 60 s motel room, no view, stairs access, price fair but would not recommend going there. Arrogant staff on reception because I'm obviously not high roller. The only reasonably priced restaurant overcrowded with a long queue.

Stayed in the Wrest Point Mountain Side for 3 nights. It is an annex building of the main Wrest Point Hotel / Casino connected with a footbridge. No lift for the Mountain Side Building. So if you stay on the 2/F, like me, you have to either take your luggage one storey up from the ground floor entrance or one storey down from the footbridge by stairs.

The room size is fair with one queen bed plus one single bed. The cleanliness is also fair. Although it is named Mountain Side, there is no view at all, not even a mountain view. Shower is available but there is no bath tub. The Mountain Side itself is a 3-star hotel at most but you have to pay the 5-star restaurant price in the Wrest Point main building which is about A$25 per person.

The good side of this hotel is its near-water location. You can take a walk along the waterfront and relax in the lawn area. You need to take a 15-min walk to the nearest supermarket and restaurants in Sandy Bay. If you choose to walk to the downtown Hobart, it is about 30-40 mins. But it would be a nice walk if you are not in hurry. Given the price of this hotel in summer is about A$125 per night, I would recommend either similar grade hotel in the downtown or pay some top ups for the Wrest Point Water Edge.
