Stayed with our daughter & son-in-law. One of the few units we looked at that would provide 2 Queen beds. Décor and building dated but who cares when the view is AMAZING. Unit could have been cleaner. Found clumps of hair around the carpet and food left in a cupboard. Well equipped kitchen. Enjoyed the tennis court, pool and spa. Had trouble getting enough heat out of the BBQ, had to return to the unit and cook in the electric frying pan.

Stayed on level 18 for 14 nights. Soon as we turned the key our jaws dropped. Absolutely amazing. Very spacious. Very clean. And views for miles. Views out to the beach and surfers from the front balcony, to stunning city views from the back balcony. Super location. 2 min drive down to Cavill mall. Sea World 10 min up the road, and rest of the theme parks 20-25 min away max. Pacific fair 5 min away. Location on the beach was perfect, out the door straight on to the gorgeous beach. Apartment 48 was gorgeous. Very very well equipped, full size fridge and cupboards galore. Staff were extremely friendly, lots of help and advice. Free beach towels for you to borrow. Lovely pool. Not a huge pool but big enough for the kids to splash around. Games room consisted of pool table and table tennis, which was well used by the kids. Great tennis court, free to use. Fast lifts. Never had to wait long. All up a fantastic base for our family holiday and one we would highly recommend.

Just had a fantastic three night stay at Penthouses. Great location, great views and wonderful friendly staff who couldn't have been more helpful. Fantastic weekend away for a group of Mums! We all had a very relaxing time. Thanks Lisa

Location is good - absolute beachfront. Size of apartments are great. Unfortunately though internally these apartments are in desperate need of attention. However for price during school holidays you get what you pay for and we did just want a few nights away cheaply. But sure there would be better around. The beds are as hard as rocks. The cleanliness could be improved and there was a dusty smell on entry. The furniture is falling apart. Springs are loose in the couch and foam is coming out of fabric chairs in bedrooms. Could be so easily improved. They advertise heated pool but it is freezing. The games room is a mess. The office is a mess. What this place could be!! Sorry I would not recommend and this would not be a place I would return to. I love some of the older style buildings but this is not one of them.

If I knew there will be scaffolds in front of the sea view window and balcony, grinders and construction noise every day, and a swimming pool we are not allowed to use because of the construction I would have booked elsewhere. Bringing kids on a holiday to accommodation that has a swimming pool and then telling them sorry you can't swim is BS. Very disappointing.

We had a dreadful experience at the Penthouses. Whilst the location is terrific, we had the misfortune of being given an unrenovated apartment that was worse than 2 stars. Some of the upholstery on the furniture was ripped, the cushions were stained, the ceiling fans were broken, the kitchen laminate had holes in it, some doors wouldn't close, knobs on cabinets were missing, TV wasn't working..I could go on. The management were also very defensive and not very helpful. That said, after making a written complaint to Wotif, they agreed to refund the cost of one night's accommodation. Will definitely not being staying at the Penthouses again.

I am writing this review to express huge disappointment with the Apartment offered and the service or lack of given to us at The Penthouses.We arrived at 5pm on 2nd January 2012,As no one on duty took key from box and headed for the 15th floor. What greeted us was a place so dirty and disgusting.!!The carpet was filthy and badly stained but worse was to come.The main bathroom had sand and pubic hairs in the shower.!!there were jandals under drawers in a bedroom left by a previous person.Also one of the bedrooms had blood/food stains up the wall and on the curtains.GROSS.The master bedroom was very tatty with odd mismatched drawers.In the lounge the cushions had food on them and the kitchen walls had food on them. The Apartment had NOT been cleaned at all or ever by the state of it.Next morning i went to Reception to say we were checking in and out at the same time.Explained the state of the place.I was then told that i asked for high rise and the further up you go the standard not as good.!!!so that was now my problem as i had requested high rise.I don't think so. I was offered other accommodation which i declined.Wouldn't you in my situation>?? We had stayed at The Penthouses for the past 4/5 years often taking 2 Apartments so loyalty counted for nothing.!! When i asked for a refund of $1000 back i was told that legally they only had to offer other accommodation and they had done that so that was it.However morally that is very wrong and even to offer that Apartment for rental simply not on.Which also shows no one responsable for checking whether place been cleaned or not.Doesn't seem right to me. My son-in-law spoke to Marissa (person on duty) about refund and customer loyalty.She told him i had made it plain i wouldn't be back but had she known my previous history she would have put me elsewhere.!!!!! Since returning home i have emailed Management but needless to say have not received a reply.My advice to anyone thinking of staying there would be to check your Apartment first and don't pay any deposit. It seems to me the rating system used is not an accurate one as some may be 4/5 star but others fall very short of that mark and should not be rented out at the amount they charge or at all until upgraded. Also Management don't seem to be responsable to anyone and don't really care so how you wonder could they improve things.

Unfortunately Unit 9 did not match the photos on the website. The furnishings were very old and the equipment was mostly a mix match of unwanted items from somebody's home. The tiles on the floor were inground with dirt and the old cane furnishing looked like relics from a budget hotel. The staff were not very welcoming or freindly and rather impersonal. Due to the weather we paced up and left early because we saw no point in staying on at place not as nice as home under these circumstances.

We booked this hotel room through the internet and were hoping for a nice place to stay for a week right on the beach. The pictures on the website looked good and the hotel stated it was 4 stars. We parted with our $3 000 for one week for a three room apartment and thought that at this price we would be paying for a great place. When we arrived we were met with an apartment that looked nothing like the web photos. Hideous 1970s cane furniture welcomed us combined with paintings on the wall that were faded to blue they were so old. Think highway motel. The place was also very very unclean. It was dusty, dirty and didn't at all met the expectations of how clean a four star hotel should be. in some of the rooms a cm of dust was on the ceiling fan, pots revealed what the last tenants had cooked and the windows were so salt laden it was hard to see the view. our expectations were also not met in that the place did not provide basic needs- that would be expected of a four star fully service apartment- these included empty salt and pepper shakers, no blender or just basic items that makes a place convenient to stay. Apart from these major things the place was also old and was in need of an update. The dryer didn't work properly. When we informed the manager of this he contradicted us saying it did work and then did nothing. Our clothes had to be dried on the balcony - and it was raining most of the week so this was an impossible task. Also people should be warned the pool is the size of a backyard pool and very crowded. The Penthouses did not meet four star standards. We were very unhappy and even considered leaving early. The staff were very unfriendly and never greeted us will as much as a hello.

Stayed here for a few days to be near friends staying nearby. Great to be on beachfront and great views. Apartments are old and in need of refurbishment and a good clean. Overpriced for Christmas period for what they are.
