Sometimes it is a lottery when you don't stay in a 'name brand' managed resort, but Marakesh is managed in pristine condition and is spotlessly clean. For COVID, I witnessed staff walking around disinfecting door knobs throughout the Building, and they do not allow different apartments in the one lift at the one time.

It is in a great location which is a bit quieter between the Surfers and Broadbeach main CBD areas.

Rudy's Real Food Cafe onsite is really good as well, we would have bought less of our own food if we had of known just how good it was.

Just be aware that some of the showers are the 'over the bathtub' style so if you are elderly or have young kids you might want to check on booking or invest in a $10 non slip mat from Woolworths.

This is my second stay at the Marrakesh within 6 months and I will keep returning. Both times I have been on the 8th floor in a superior 1 bedroom apartment. Both rooms were great. Having breakfast on the balcony was a highlight especially having a little feathered friend visiting me (see picture)The room was extremely clean, bed very comfortable and laundry with washing machine, dryer, clothes airer and pegs. The location is perfect as it is 1.5km walk to Oasis at Broadbeach (Woolworths) or there is a corner IGA only a short stroll away. The pool would have to be the highlight for me as the outdoor furniture is top quality and just the right amount of umbrellas. The organic cafe Rudi’s was amazing with the most friendly young lady working there. I loved the coffee! I can’t wait for my next trip!

My husband and I booked this apartment at short notice. We needed a 4 night stay with kitchen and laundry facilities.
The apartment was clean and functional, though a little worn in places. The pool area was a welcome surprise. The indoor & outdoor pools were heated and the gardens and lounging areas were immaculately kept. Only walking distance to restaurants and shops, it is perfectly positioned and we walked along the beachfront every day.
Mandy the Complex Manager was very friendly and efficient. Parking was included and everything was accessible with a key fob. Good value for money.

We stayed 8 december for 25 nights, and booked a superior apartment, which was anything but.The cooking ceramic hob was cracked and had a piece missing on the edge, the maintenance man came along and put a piece of gaffer tape on it which was still there when we left. The intercom was not working for the 25 nights. The curtains would not close properley, a small job ,but obviously they don't check the apartments before letting. One day we went shopping came back and the key would not open the door,on the third attempt the manager came with another key and opened the door. This was a no smoking - no pets apartment which is fine by me, but half the apartments are owned by residents who can smoke and have pets, so the smoke was coming across to us from a residents room. The picture on booking.com shows a large balcony. this is not the case in room 610, we feel we have been conned. The kitchen and bathroom are over twenty years old, not what you expect in a superior apartment, this is probably why the lock was a problem, it's old! I don't know how people review this property over nine, unless we had the worst apartment in the building its more like five. The reception and most public areas are ok, the indoor pool has a broken tile on the steps, and small tiles missing in the outdoor spa. This is the truth, no lies, so you have been warned!.Some of the complaints may seem minor, but we paid nearly a £1000 a week for a so called "superior " apartment, avoid this place it is dated .

Response from Marrakesh T, Manager at Marrakesh Resort Apartments
Responded 14 Jan 2020
Good morning Ivan, Your feedback is important to us and we appreciate you taking time to let know about your stay. We are disappointed to hear that your stay was not as you nor we would have hoped for. We are especially sorry to hear that you felt “conned”. At the Marrakesh we are very careful to ensure that our website as well as travel agent listings do not misrepresent us. We offer 2 styles of accommodation, standard (green tones) or superior (charcoal tones). Our superior apartments are our most recently updated. The Marrakesh is a unique boutique resort and whilst it was built approx. 20 years ago, it is very well maintained inside and out and most recently has had full pools, BBQ and roof top renovations. As explained to you whilst here, we were unable to resolve the issue with the apartment intercom as this required specialist repairs and due to it being the Christmas break, they were unable to obtain parts to rectify during your stay. We note your comment regarding your keys not being able to open your apartment door. On check-in both key sets were issued to you were in good order and worked for part of your stay. On inspection, it was not that lock that was faulty, but one of your keys that had become damaged. We replaced this key immediately with a new key at no charge to you. We note also your comment regarding the glass cook top. We have investigated this with the department concerned. To avoid injury it was determined to put strong tape over the rough edge to avoid injury. We do not keep replacement cook tops on site, so were not able to replace this during your stay. We were unaware that you had an issue with smoke during your stay. The resort does have a strict no smoking policy and had we been made aware of your concerns during your stay we would have immediately taken action. At the Marrakesh we do have apartment owners whom visit at times throughout the year or whom live on site. This is not uncommon in Resorts with Apartments. We are perplexed as to why you would state that "half" our apartments are occupied by smoking owners and their pets (dogs)? In closing, we are very sorry that your stay at the Marrakesh was not what you expected. We do value your comments and we will ensure that we review our processes in particular with regards to our guests’ expectations and experience. kind regards, Marrakesh Management

Stayed for 3 nights. Check in was quick and easy and very informative.

Fantastic apartment with all the comforts of home. We had great views of the ocean from our lounge and balcony.

Everything that you need is supplied. Food close by, and a 5min walk to the beach.

Easy walk to either Broadbeach or surfers paradise shopping. Tram is close by as well.

Wifi was very good, Foxtel Tv was also available

Only complaint is no ceiling fan or air conditioner in the bedroom, we stayed in May so was not a problem not sure how it would be in the hotter months.

Hello Dianne, Thank you for taking time to leave feedback for us. We are pleased to hear that your enjoyed your stay with us here at the Marrakesh and that your found your apartment to be fantastic and our location central to the beach, shops and tram. We note your comment re not having air con or a ceiling fan in your bedroom and can advise that the air con we have in our apartments is sufficient to cool or heat a whole apartment year round when adjusted to the the optimum temperature. We are always happy to assist should our guests need any assistance with this. We hope you will choose to stay with us again on your next trip to the Gold Coast. It would be our pleasure to welcome you back. with kind regards,

I stayed with my two teenagers in a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment. The facilities were wonderful, everything that we needed was there. The location ideal- my kids could walk to the beach and local attractions (or ride electric bikes). Easy onsite parking, lovely clean pools and spas as well as BBQ areas. Staff were discrete but attentive.

Tired and needing an upgrade. Plus was location, pool and communial area. Room was dirty and and no air con in std one bedroom apartment as advertised. Its not a 9/10. More a 7 but if you know that its fine. Bathroom and bedroom had sticky dust and mold and broken tiles. Dust on hoover and sticky on sockets in bedroom. Wardrobe trackes were black even after I tried to clean. Maybe it was a cheap expedia booking. Kitchen had broken floor tile. Sofa bed did not open. Lots of maintenance occuring as in daily jack hammer notification. It provides a starter pack but you will need soap, bin bags, coffee, tea, suger, salt, pepper, toilet paper, handy towel, laundry powder, dishwasher powder and lots of notices about extra charges if you dont leave it clean.

We stayed 6 nights. We liked the pool and spa area, gardens were nice. Bedroom however got very stuffy as the split system is in the lounge area and bedroom closed off. The bathroom shower was quite small and their was not a bar of soap. Tv in room but quite small, not a huge deal. We washed our towels continually and dried them in the dryer. It would have been nice some fresh linen half way through our stay, but was not sure if we had to ring and ask, but nobody called once we settled in . Staff were friendly. Not sure if we would stay again as the shower was quite small and the bedroom got stuffy as I said due to only a split system in the lounge. Bedroom is closed off except for some wooden blinds that opened up so we kept them open to get air in. a little outdated.

other then that had a nice stay. Thank you.

Excellent and keeps getting better, now with Rudy's Real Organic cafe/restaurant overlooking the pool we have enjoyed many wonderful healthy meals at Rudy’s.
The peaceful, calm relaxed vibe, means we have just chilled out here. Reading on the large balcony overlooking the gardens and with ocean views, while listening to the sound of waves on the beach.

Enjoying many hours the in gorgeous heated indoor and outdoor pools and spa’s.

The stylish freshly renovated apartment is beautiful with everything we need. The staff and management are friendly and helpful. 14 days is not enough we stayed 15 days, this is our 4th stay.

Staff are lovely. Pool and garden area are lovely. Views from many of the rooms are fabulous, especially from level 10. Majority of rooms are of good size and well appointed. For our family trip I booked 3 rooms for 6 adults. 2 were terrific, maybe a little dusty but otherwise nice. We had 3 adults in the 3rd room which Unfortunately was a lot smaller than the others. No air conditioning in the main room, dusty cabinetry, soap scum on the shower caddy and despite being a non-smoking building the room reeked of cigarettes. Was told that the stench was casued be residents in nearby room. Unfortunately the only remedy offered was 3 free drink vouchers valued at $5 each. Not even enough to cover a coffee from the cafe.
If you are offered room 206 ask for another room.

In our experience , having stayed their three or four times, I can't remember having been charged. I am sure that there were signs that they would, but when you are a multi day stayer and just take one each and dry it overnight, they don't seem to bother. Very friendly, helpful staff.
