Liked · The location of the apartment was amazing. We were staying on the 8th floor and the view from there was totally amazing. The kitchen was nice and well equipped. The apartment had a balcony to enjoy the view. Colorful lorikeets (birds) would visit the apartment. Also, the beach is super close to the apartment and Surfers Paradise is just a 10min. walk. Nice experience.

Disliked · Although I would not say this apartment to be a luxury but more as a need. There were all the basic things to fulfill our needs but it did lack a bit in comfort. We were 3 people staying in the apartment and we were allocated an extra bed (for the 3rd person) which was more or less comparable to an hospital bed.
Moreover, Internet today can be considered as a basic need and not a luxury and needless to say this apartment provides you with only 500Mb data per day, irrespective of the number of people. So we stayed for 3 days and got 1,5GB for the whole stay for 3 people which we feel is very less considering Netflix, Instagram, Video calling etc.
Also, the whole point of the balcony is to sit comfortable and enjoy the view, but this could be partially possible since the air conditioning heat exchanger was placed in the balcony which took up most of the place.
Not to mention the weird reception timings and the requirement of a deposit of 200AUD!

The apartment location was really good for car users and people who use public transport. It was only a 3 minute walk to the nearest patrolled beach and 8 minute walk to coles and other shops. The pool was warm and clean and the spa relaxing. The room had a lot of kitchen equipment, complimentary tea and coffee, milk and sugar. The bed was comfortable for a nights sleep but not the best.

The apartment was clean and had good facilities. It is very close to the tram station and trams run regularly to the centre of Surfers. (Can also walk to the centre)
Queen size bed, decent size TV too. Free wifi.
A welcome pack helped us to settle in quickly. The staff are very helpful.
There is a heated pool and spa, both of which are clean and situated in a small, well tended garden.
Our only tiny moan, is the sound of the surf, which is constant when you're only a hundred yards away, great views though. You get used to it .

Arrived to Shore Apartment and greeted by friendly check in. Unfortunately, that was the only compliment I can give. The lift was snail slow, whole building was stuffy. Got to room, windows open just a fraction and because there was no A/C, no balcony, it was hot and humid and basically miserably uncomfortable. The lounge room was not comfy at all. A very basic 2 seater couch and all tiles throughout made the place even more uncomfortable. Kids could not lay on the floor to just fall asleep, they had to sleep on uncomfy 2 seater. The dining, kitchen was so basically set up with cheap furniture. The place is old and needs improvement. Finally, you can hear everything from every unit on the entire floor, it just somehow echoed and because everyone was in in need of oxygen, every crack that could be opened, was opened. Every Time I got into the lift, into the foyer or hallway, visitors were complaining about the same things. I do not recommend this place especially for comfort. We didnt end up staying our second night, we found elsewhere and so glad we did.

NO AC
NO DISHWASHER
NO UNLIMITED WI-FI
(500Mbps Wi-Fi/ day)

Require wash all dishes when check out if not will be charged by bonds and require collect all your rubbish by yourself if not will be charged A$50.

I had book a “1 bed Superior Apartment” I’m very disappointed just received a standard apartment- partial ocean views with balcony but it’s on the high floor.

All superior apartments are more bigger than standard if you book less than 2 people will give you standard apartment directly with partial Ocean View not beachfront apartment .

I thought the superior apartments without required if you have to book the superior’s one it’s all beachfront apartments but it’s not.

Unhappy with be charge A$50 forgot the key I was com back around 5:30 pm (a very very old locker you can’t use the key to lock the door )

Lost of extra charge you won’t know when you book appointment.

A bad experience I have ever seen
a service apartment but without wash the dishes and need thrown all rubbished when check out.

We arrived only to have to stand outside the entry trying to find out how we check in finally we get in and get our key only to go to the room which was dusty rusty dirty outdated and mouldy.. The bed was like a wooden board and we were not happy..!! But since we couldn't speak to anyone we were out of luck.. We didn't even stay we booked into a different hotel within a few hours of our check in and as we packed up I checked under the bed.. Yep used condom..!! Disgusting..!! The next morning we went back to hand the keys back and complain and show pics of the filth and we were told we would not be getting a refund and not even could they apologise.. It was like they didn't care took the keys got us to sign out and turned their back.. Would not even leave my dog to stay here let alone my family..!!

This used to be great we used to stay here once a year. But now different owners and run down. Twice we came back from nights out to find the bed full of ants that had came through the wall.when i did finally get through to reception he came up with fly spray and sprayed the bed and said he would replace the under lay, he brought the same 1 back up(could smell the fly spray) Washing machines and dryers dont work and still took our money. We payed for a deluxe room with a king bed and got 2 singles pushed together. Says fully equip kothen and bathroom, there was no hair dryer and am being charged each day i have it.

Had the nightmare of staying at this hotel during my stay at Surfer's Paradise. I booked an apartment here based on the reviews of this website (doubt I'll be using TripAdvisor again). I didn't expect luxury, but this was beyond disgusting.

- holes in the walls
- ancient furniture
- no heating/ air conditioning
- weak lock on doors (safety?)
- faulty toilet
- mouldy odour in rooms
- old key elevator system (slow)'
- no towels provided (can be hired at $2 p/ towel)
- paid WiFi only
- unhelpful and rude elderly reception

Upon bringing the above issues to reception's attention during check-in, we were told that there were absolutely no refunds as stated on a paper sign at reception (wonder why). We were told that we get what we pay for (even though the photos on their site are completely misleading). We threatened taking legal action and were moved to a bigger room which is what we had originally paid for, however still dirty and very outdated.

The site advertises WiFi is all areas of the hotel but upon inquiring about it, I was told it was only available in the lobby downstairs. I found out on the last day of our stay that this was not true and it is in-fact available in the rooms, however nobody at the hotel knew the WiFi password! Staff are misinformed and not up to date with technology and hotel policies.

The Shore Holiday Apartments are a good 15 minute walk from Cavill Avenue, which was not a problem for me but must be taken into account when considering to stay at Surfers Paradise. I only have one good thing to say about this hotel, and that is that there was access to all of the Foxtel channels.

Stayed there for 8 days for a nice holiday and rooms were dirty and as I was cleaning the kitchen I found a used syringe right next to the microwave which put me off. We had a couple of other family members come and hang out for drinks on the Balcony on some night and the owner was so creepy that he took photos of us coming In and out and printed and showed us the photos the day we were checking out. The old man also charged us couple of hundreds for having my cousins come over during the day. Would not recommend this place.

Response from Garry M, Manager at The Shore Holiday Apartments
Responded 10 Jan 2016
Thank you for your review Mel they always help us build a better communication with guests. Your booking was made for 2 people staying the 8 days and this is the rate you paid. On the very first night there was 4 people that stayed in the apartment and on seeing you the next morning politely informed you that the booking was for only 2 people and that is the amount of money you had paid for extra people staying for free was not an option. On every evening following right up until your last night there were 3 - 5 staying in the apartment on any given night. The reason we provided photos to you was that they come from our security cameras which monitor the property. They clearly indicated you letting people in late at night and them leaving in the morning We provide these when guest's do actually have more than the reservation amount of people staying so we can claim the extra person charges from the guest. We charged you $125.00 for extra guests which our owner is fully entitled to and did not actually cover the full cost. I would suggest that should you wish to book accommodation you provide the correct amount of guests staying and pay the amount for them at the time. This will save any embarrassment when checking out for all parties involved.

Normally I give the manager and staff notice of my visit. This time I appeared and they did a logistics magic act to accomodate me,which was much appreciated. The room was spotless, cudos to housekeeping, and the views are to die for. This property is very good value for money right of the beach and security after hours is good.
Other properties can learn from the shore re how a resort should be run and how it should be presented .

In my opinion it's great! Clean and good views. Kitchen is good. We don't spend much time in the room so it was perfect for us! Good luck and enjoy.
