My partner and I staying at Marina Terraces in May after having to reschedule our holiday due to COVID. We couldn’t have had a better experience.

The best thing about this place is the location and value for money. We got with an online deal booking direct through their website and it was almost half what you would pay at other places. It’s just a couple of blocks away from the flags at Four Mile Beach and a short walk up to the main street in town with restaurants and shops. It was super easy to go to the beach at least twice a day and we didn’t need to hire a car at all. (Just the bus for airport transfers.)

Having staying in Port Douglas a few times I can’t recommend enough how much location matters. Some of the resorts are quite far away from town and you need a taxi/car to get into town and it can add up. During stinger season you want to swim in the nets and Marina Terraces is literally so close to the nets/flags. Don’t get stuck too far away if you’re not hiring a car!

The room was just as the description said, clean and bright and what you would expect. We actually had a room upgrade as our original room was having repairs so not sure what the original room was like but the one we ended up in was huge, big enough for a family and even had its own private rooftop area with an outdoor TV. There was plenty of towels for the shower, pool and beach. The pool was clean and the perfect temperature and there was plenty of comfy day beds to lay near. Also a book/DVD library and BBQ facilities although we didn’t use those.

We were on the top floor up a few flights of stairs which was totally fine for us but I would check if you have limited mobility as I don’t think there was a lift.

Managers Greg and Michelle were SO lovely! Before we arrived they organised airport transfers from Cairns. They organised a delicious cheese platter which we ordered one afternoon and were so cheerful and nice to chat with especially as we had a million questions about life in Port Douglas paradise.

I would definitely recommend staying at Marina Terraces we had a great time and would definitely be back!!

Stayed here for 2 nights with 3 adults, while visiting the Daintree. We had the 2 bedroom apartment no.13 - checking was easy with Michelle greeting us, up the stairs to the apartment and it was just as expected. Pictures are a perfect match to what you get, which is a warm homely feeling. The extras are what makes this place - full catered kitchen, beach/pool towels, pool noodles, book/DVD options, good aircon, big TV, throw blankets and lots of cushions. The pool was also heated ! So it was really nice to relax in anytime of the day. Located to Daintree was about 45 mins which was perfect for us and it was an easy drive. The main street is just around the corner, walking distances only a few minutes. The beach was a nice walk in the mornings only a few minutes there too and had some nice scenery. Also really loved the flexibility and the laid back vibes - we asked for a late checkout which was done without charge or a hassle. Thanks again for the stay would recommend this place for a relaxing, no stress stay.

We arrived in the Marina Terraces Holiday Apartments during a heavy rain without reservation. We were greeted very nicely by Michelle. Despite the hour, she showed us three apartments with one or two bedrooms. We chose No. 12 on the 2nd floor. It is a spacious apartement with seating group dining table and a well-equipped kitchen line. TV, DVD Player etc are at the disposal of the guest. A beautiful balcony rounds off the personal well-being in this apartment. The Marina Terraces are only a few minutes walk from the main street with shops and many restaurants and a Cool Shopping Center for larger household purchases. The beach is just as close. Marina Terraces have parking spaces in the garage on the ground floor. From there the stairwell (no elevator) can be reached. A nice idee is a library with books and a wide selection of DVDs with films of all genres. All this can be used free of charge. Managers Greg and Michelle are a very attentive host couple, who are happy to assist and advise their guests.

The pics on the property's website paint a different picture to what we experienced. The internal stairs to the second floor are utilitarian. Felt like being in a carpark building.

The two bedroom apartment with roof terrace was quite stark and unwelcoming. Basic and uncomfortable black vinyl sofa and very little else in the living space. And the stairs to the rooftop terrace are not for the faint hearted. Even the manager advised she doesn't like negotiating them; let alone with food and drinks. No views from the rooftop terrace unless you stand and look over the top. Just awful.

We were moved to a 'luxury' ground floor apartment near the pool. The apartment was dark, and dim and we needed to keep the lights on to give any feeling of space. Bathroom and laundry spaces were fairly basic and no way we would call this luxury. The main bedroom and zero storage spaces apart from hangars and we needed to use the second bedroom shelving to place our folded clothing etc. One tea towel and one hand towel for the total stay of 7 days.

The pool area is open to the road with no feeling of being in a tropical garden. Note the photo on the website doesn't show the fence to the road on the right of the picture. It felt very exposed to public view.

Overall, we felt the property was looking tired with patch-up jobs in various spots in the two apartments we viewed. Had we realised these were individually owned and then re-let through a pool we would have simply gone through Air BnB to choose something with more atmosphere and privacy.

On the last two days of our stay, builders moved in to begin renovation on an apartment on the floor above ours. The noise was awful as we jumped out of our skin when something huge crashed into a bin outside. And then the drilling started. Just imagine this on your holiday! We were never pre-warned about any possible renovations happening during our stay and would never have chosen this apartment option had we known prior to confirmation of booking. Management did not accept that this was a problem as they restricted the time the tradesman worked. That's not relevant. What is relevant is the fact that the tradesmen were there and the drilling was a huge disturbance to our peace and quiet. This experience has completely turned us off ever booking a holiday apartment in the future. Luxury Escapes offer a 5* experience at a luxury resort for the same price so we definitely wouldn't class this as 'affordable accommodation'

We know hospitality as we have worked in tourism through our whole working lives, so we have travelled and stayed at numerous accommodations around the world, many luxury apartments.

We were hugely disappointed and we cannot recommend Marina Terraces.

Dear guest, you see to be leaving and harrassing us with negative reviews wherever you can. Your review of the property is totally inaccurate and I am sure that everyone reading this review will not take your comments into account. You requested a 2bd 2 bath with private rooftop on the 2nd level with knowing there was no elevator in the building. You were also made aware that the unit had an internal staircase to the private rooftop. After arriving after hours and within one hour of being here demanded you be moved to a ground floor unit. We moved you at 8.30pm at night to a lovely 2 bedroom ground floor apartment and you raved how beautiful it was and just want you needed due to your husband inability to negotiate any stairs to his medical condition. Not sure why you even booked a unit on the top floor with stairs. Your abuse was just awful on the day you departed. the trades people only started work at 9.30am that morning when you were already up and packed ready to go on the shuttle we had booked for you. We even on your arrival gave you 2 bottles of lovely wine complimentary. Of course they were left in the apartment that night of your arrival as we were already helping you move at 8.30pm at night and we said we would get them for you the next morning. Your husband the next morning at 10am was very rude in demanding the wine at that time of morning. We gladly went and got you the complimentary bottles of wine which was not an urgent matter at that time of morning. You say you are and have been in hospitality then I just hope you are not as abusive towards your clients as you were to me. I have never in my time here experienced such a terrible experience with a guest like this. Not to mention that your credit card kept declining for payment to be made and we had to keep asking you for payment. I suggest that when you write reviews in the future that you have all your facts correct. This review you have left is certainly not relevant to our property and I could not recommend you at all to any future holiday apartment complex as a guest or to any owner that puts their property on AIRBNB to rent to you. We wish you well in the future and I do apologise to anyone looking at the this review of the poor content that this guest has made up just to continually harass for some free accommodation. Unfortunately for you this review is just very poorly made up content and a totally inaccurate description that you have made up to try and get some sort of refund/compensation for your stay here that is certainly not warranted. Yours Sincerely Marina Terraces Port Douglas

Booked a weekend with my two girlfriends, I loved it that much, I stayed another three days. Being so close to the hub of town was the first positive. Once opening the door to our apartment, we were amazed at how large and spacious it was. Exceptionally clean and fresh decor. The hotel overall is quiet, intimate and perfectly kept. I enjoyed plenty afternoons enjoying the pool and lounging in the shaded gardens. This hotel is family operated, which is clearly visible in the fact the friendly open service you are offered. It was never a hassle to Michelle and her husband to assist myself with tours, travel etc. I even left my iPad in my room after departing. Kindly Michelle and husband dropped it off to me in palm cove. Thankyou for sharing your part of paradise with me. Clare

We have stayed in Port Douglas 4 times over the years. I’ve always booked whatever accommodation has been affordable and given the best value. This was our first time staying at Marina Terraces. The positive reviews had definitely lived up to its reputation! We were even more impressed when we arrived. We stayed in apartment #7. The apartment had a spacious layout, was clean, and nicely decorated. The apartment complex is quiet, has a brand new pool, and is possibly what was the best location to walk to the shops or go to the beach. It literally had everything at your doorstep! Marina Terraces has now hit the top of our list of places to stay in Port Douglas! We will definitely be returning in future.

Amazing location! Once you arrive you won't need to use your car at all. 100m to Four Mile Beach, 100m to Macrossan Street and a 10 minute walk to the Marina. Lovely gardens and pool area, rooms are spacious, clean and comfy, and the manager's go out of their way to help. Can't fault Marina Terraces. Absolutely recommend!

Apartment 15 is looking very tired. A good paint would not go astray.
The dead plant in the pot and the weeds growing on the balcony was disappointing.
I can't say I enjoyed looking at the vacuum cleaners left on the 2 landings all day and night. Not very professional . I understand the reason, however, build a cupboard to put them in.
A few utensils were missing, very basic crockery. A steamer saucepan would have been nice. Not everyone eats out or has take away all the time.
Housekeeping could have been better. Dust under beds and in wardrobes on plants.
However apart from all that we enjoyed our stay.
Loved the pool. Apartments are in a great location. We did have a good time.
Next time will be better. Thank you.
