We stayed 4 nights in a suite located on the 3rd floor! We asked for a user friendly room/suite for disability and was surprised on arrival to have Paula, who had contacted us several times prior to arrival to make sure all was going ok on our journey from Melbourne, Paula took us to our room , helped unload suitcases etc from our car, walked us through info on the motel and let us know if we needed anything to phone her in reception. We were very grateful!
The suite was extremely comfy with a large king bed, user friendly bathroom with all requirements including an easy access shower. Bathroom was clean and included a washing machine/dryer which was useful to us! Balcony had a spa, room had a good kitchenette with full fridge. Rooms have good aircon and ceiling fans which we used being in the 30’s .
Swimming pool was great although could have had an easier access handrail as we found the steps a bit hard to exit from the pool even though there was a rail. Also there was a great bbq area with a full kitchen including fridge and micro.
Access to main road of port Douglas entailed stairs but could be made through Cole’s car par next door which had a lift. Coles is next door!!
No breakfast was offered but there are many places surrounding motel to get breaky as well as room kitchen for cooking and bbq area!
Highly recommend this hotel for families, seniors or couples as they have swim out pool rooms. We will return again no hesitation. Thanks again to Paula!

Great location but the amenities require attention. The swim out room located in the smaller pool presents interesting challenges for the guests. The pool is rather shallow and it needs better access from the deck. There are no manageable steps and due to the depth one cannot dive in ( as per signs) and once in the pool it is rather difficult to get out particularly for older guests. The deck is really a punishment to your feet on a very hot day.
The bathroom is outdated . These rooms are self contained but unfortunately the unavailability of spare rubbish bags for both the bathroom and the kitchen make the situation interesting. They also do not supply a kitchen sink sponge for the dishes. On a positive note the dryer and washing machine were great. The staff are very polite and professional and this balances a little the not so positive experience based on the amenities.
We have stayed in better mantra properties in Port Douglas

When we first arrived, the room we were given was not for us. It was clean and tidy, but the layout wasn't good. We were staying for 7 nights and needing to relax, so we were expecting a lovely open room with a decent sized balcony with a nice view. This room had a tiny balcony with a very small opening which looked over bins and car park. It was dark and cramped and certainly not a room we would want to spend many hours in and enjoy a glass of champagne and nibbles on the balcony. We were very luck in that when we complained to the front desk, a lady called Rosie was called. She was extremely helpful and even though it took her some time, she managed to find us a more suitable room with a wide, open balcony, lovely hinterland view and it even had a spa bath on the balcony which was an added bonus. We are very grateful to Rosie, who looked after us with empathy, understanding and professionalism. Apparently she had only been there a few weeks, so she did well with limited knowledge of the establishment.

My partner and I ( early thirties) went for 6 nights in the swim out apartment room, I booked a king bed for our stay. Very disappointed with our room. There was mould everywhere the room stunk from the mould we were given two single beds put together. we couldn’t sleep next to each other the single beds were short and our legs hung off them and we would cave into the middle gap if we tried to sleep together it was horrible. I basically had no sleep for 6 nights. Not only that they said we had to pay for fresh towels cause we aren’t staying longer than 8 nights?! We were provided with one small sachet of laundry detergent and soap. we didn’t use the pool once as our swim out was covered by shade by the building next door and the pool water looked dirty. It was a great location in the heart of the village but that’s all it has going for it, I would never stay or recommend to anyone. Also they say you can use your netflix etc on their tvs which is total bs the wifi is so weak nothing loads.

My wife and I spent three nights at mantra Heritage Port Douglas the hotel is quite close to everything in Port Douglas such as pubs, clubs coffee shops and numerous eateries also next door to Coles supermarket very close to the waterfront.
We stayed in room 1314 on the third floor. The room is very clean and tidy overlooking the pool.,In hindsight. I wish I had booked a room that opened out onto the pool. The staff are very friendly and helpful and parking is underneath we will be going back to Port Douglas and definitely staying again .

We booked 2 x 2 bedroom apartments and 2 x 1 bedrooms suites for our group of 9 adults and 3 children.
We spent a lot of time around the pool which was a lovely area with plenty of sun lounges, chairs tables and umbrellas. There are 2 pools, one was really warm and great for the kids the other smaller pool was cooler for those that preferred a refreshing swim. Internet photos of pool area do not do it justice.
BBQ area was great, we enjoyed a BBQ one night and had area to ourselves even though resort was close to fully booked. Rooms had plenty of space and kitchen well equipped for rare times we ate in rooms. Rooms were probably a little dated and there was mould in every shower, not enough to feel shower wasn’t clean but not a great look either
All our rooms got a little spruce up mid week with sheets and towels changed. The staff were amazing and any request we made was met with a smile and great service. We paid an exorbitant price for rooms but understand everything in Port Douglas is ridiculously overpriced.
Would definitely recommend this resort with a warning of overall cost of holidaying in Port Douglas.

We stayed here for a week as a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teens). The corridors etc didn’t give a great first impression but actually the hotel was perfect for us. We had a 2 bedroom suite, which was huge, with a fabulous balcony. It was really well equipped, including washing machine and tumble dryer. The decor in the suite was pretty nice. The pool area was nice, and pretty quiet when we visited. It’s also really central, although our room was a little noisy early in the morning, due to street noise, deliveries etc, but that’s to be expected with the central location.

Swim up rooms are great, but cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired especially considering the price tag! Even if we weren't living in COVID times the level of cleanliness is disappointing. On first glance it looks cleans but you soon notice there is a total lack of attention to any detail. Some examples include filthy fan blades, stained furniture, dirty sticky marks on kitchen tiles and bench tops when we checked in, bar stools that were so filthy I don't think they have ever been cleaned, disgusting telephone handsets (high touch point and major COVID risk), lots of dust, disgusting looking spill on curtain. A few sample photos attached. The place needs a thorough deep clean. Also disappointing that there was no room service in the 3 days we stayed there. Excuse I was given is that "this is typical of accomodation in Port Douglas". How that is any kind of explanation I'm not sure especially when charging in excess of $300 a night. Having stayed in places at a third the cost and still had a room service that is not really satisfactory. There are safes in the room for valuables but ours were locked and there were no instructions on how to open or operate. Ladies on reception were helpful (the guy gave the impression he would rather not deal with people). Good points include the great pools and the car parking

Dear Diary1, Thank you for providing feedback on your stay at Mantra Heritage during the New year period. I sincerely apologise that the cleaning of the unit was not up to standard. This is an aspect that needs to be at a high level and on this occasion it appears we missed the mark. Our room rates, along with several properties on Port Douglas do not have daily servicing of the room included, but can be added for an additional fee. I am pleased to read that you enjoyed the pool area and the swim out room. I hope that we can welcome you back to Port Douglas and Mantra soon, with a more enjoyable stay. Kind Regards, Brad C.

We booked an interconnecting room, I stayed in a traditional hotel room, which connected to the much larger apartment room which was brilliant. This room had a much bigger pool deck and a comfortable under cover day bed and outdoor table area. (The pool deck for my room was tiny, enough space for only one deck chair.)

The swim up pool rooms were brilliant, but lack of ladder to get in and out of the pool was harder with mobility issues.

The hotel has so many stairs!! People with mobility issues will struggle. There are lifts to assist but there are no avoiding them. As someone recovering from a knee injury I struggled.

We picked the accommodation based on location, which was perfect. It is in the middle of town, next to Coles which is very convenient.
