Detailed Reviews
Fabulous was the youngest child's reaction to our apartment and I cannot disagree.
The apartment was very spacious and very well stocked. The beds were super comfy. The kids room had 3 beds and still had space for them to mess it up with towels and clothes.
The kitchen has everything you need for self catering inc a dishwasher with comp wash tablets.
There's a washing machine, with comp wash liquid and a tumble dryer
It was great to have a large dining table and the option of eating out on the balcony too
The views from the balcony were of the esplanade and the marina. The kids enjoyed the pools and tennis court but we didn't use the spa or sauna.
The central location meant we could walk to the shopping centre and local attractions of the aquarium, dome, marina and esplanade.
Bonus was foxtel
The management couple are charming and very knowledgeable about the local area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the future.

We stayed in Apartment 57 on the 9th floor. The apartment was well updated The kitchen was great a instruction manual for the dishwasher would of been good as the only 2 buttons it had did not work. The kitchen needs a kettle the nespresso machine for hot water not so good as contantly filling up the water chamber. The door to the undersink in one of the bathrooms would not shut this is the part of the apartment that is not renovated yet but still functional. The lounge was super comfortable. Nice carpet not worn at all beautiful views will defnately be staying again

We chose a standard apartment and we very happy with our choice. The apartment was on the 7th floor at the southern end of the building. The view is amazing. This apartment (42) had great cross ventilation with a constant breeze that made airconditioning unnecessary. The complex has two pools, a sauna and spa plus a tennis court and BBQ. All were spotless and well maintained.
You can't fault the location. It is easy to walk to anywhere in Cairns city. The Marina is a 5-10 minute flat walk. The Cairns Esplanade Lagoon is only a few minutes away. There are restaurants next door that are great value. In fact you can walk to all of the city sites and tour buses will pick you up at the door.
Troy and Elisabeth had prepared the apartment beautifully. It was spotless and looked wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble and you can make bookings through their website. Troy immediately fixed a small issue while we were out.
This is a secure building with a fob needed for access to the building, lift and garage. Enough of the essentials are provided to get you through a few days, there is an IGA around the corner but a much better Woolworths is three blocks away.

Negatives are the pool area which is a long winding walk behind the resort. It has little to encourage guests to lie around the pool, has the sun on it all day which left the water warm and anything but refreshing. The BBQ was away from everything and uninviting. During our stay the roller door to the garage was broken which allowed anyone access to the carpark. The apartment furniture was old and uncomfortable. Torn lounge chair, minimal utensils and kitchen items i.e. only 2 wine glasses for 4 adults, 1 glass salad bowl was cracked and only 4 cutlery settings and plates which meant it all had to be washed after every meal. The carpet was very old and stained.
Positives are the size of the 2 bedroom apartment which is quite large. Good size balcony and amazing views. The beds are extremely comfortable, two towels provided for every guest and a beach towel. Air conditioning in the living room and both bedrooms which was a plus with the hot weather. Location was perfect. Walk out the door to the esplanade and all the restaurants, shops.
Although the apartment was old and there were aspects we didn’t like I would definitely stay there again for the location and views.

Recent 3 night stay to visit family in Cairns. Large apartment with amazing views in the centre of the building. Recently renovated kitchen. Comfy king size bed. Large balcony. Unfortunately the rest of the apartment was in need of a much needed renovation. The sliding door to our on suite had come off it’s track & couldn’t be closed. Bathrooms very tired. Guest bathroom vanity cupboard door wouldn’t close. No light fittings on most lights. On our 2nd night I noticed an awful damp smell coming from the laundry. The next morning I decided to do some washing. I was using the washing machine & also hand washing in the tub ( no bucket or laundry basket provided). When I pulled the plug from the tub there was a gurgling sound & the next thing I knew the kitchen & dining area was flooded. I immediately called the service desk. A lovely man who I assume was the manager came & mopped. He then called a plumber. We then noticed the floor of the ensuite had also flooded & the carpet was soaked. We were immediately offered another room on the same floor (9) . This room was possibly even worse than the 1st. View not nearly as good. Some furniture needs immediate replacement- lounge & dining suite. Only had a queen size bed. The manager was very helpful & allowed us to take as much time to move as required. He compensated us with a bottle of wine. Upon returning home I feel that some further compensation is required for the inconvenience & the 2nd apartment was of a lower standard . I would appreciate if management could contact me regarding this matter.

Location and views from the verandah was the only positive aspect of the property.
We stayed at Unit 29 on the 4th floor.
Disliked · 1. The guest room a/c was faulty and no attempts were made to repair in spite of reporting immediately on arrival of our 7 nights stay. 2 guests had to sleep overnight in the living room sofas to avoid hot and sticky guest room.
2. The accommodation lacks repair, upkeep and maintenance. The bedroom windows have no sills and there is a major gaping hole between the wall and window frame making it a major health and safety hazard for the guests. It is an awkward lack of attention to basic standards of the property.
3. No vacuum cleaner or proper clean brush to clean up the property at departure, though leaving conditions warrant a tidy and clean place. The supplied brush sheds more dirt than it sweeps.A likely $100 fee is leviable in case the property is left unclean and tidy!
4. Lack of basic supplies like garbage bag, garbage bins and cleaning supplies.
5. Power tripped once for no reason.
6.The second bathroom shower tap handle comes off and drops to the cubicle floor. You are lucky not to get it on your feet!!
7. Lack of communication from the hosts. Phones and messages remain unanswered.
8. Promised discount for non-functional a/c in bedroom never materialised.

We stayed in Cairns for 7 nights on the last leg of our East Coast tour. We booked our two bedroom deluxe apartment through Booking.com. I am surprised this property gets a 4.5 whilst the location is great for the esplanade and restaurants/bars are on your doorstep it really does need some TLC. I think this property was nice in its day and pictures are probably quite old.
The building
Feels like a 1980 hotel when you walk into the lobby, dark wood and pattern marble flooring. The corridors are open brick and grey pattern carpet quite gloomy. Two small kidney shaped outdoor pools on front of building with two sun-beds at each pool. The Sauna is located near one pool and needs to be pre-timed at least 30 minutes before use to heat it.
The garden is well maintained and there is a tennis court at side of building.
Our apartment No.29, 4th Floor
The reason I am publishing the number is because it seemed to us that some are privately owned so experience could be different.
Our apartment was a huge two bedroom with big-folding doors and great views of esplanade. We had open plan kitchen/dinner and lounge. Unfortunately no “smart “ TV, one dinning chair broken and wicker chair which collapsed underneath me when I sat on it. Other furniture on balcony was fine. The main bedroom had on-suite but there was no door, and no privacy! The main bathroom was large with spa bath but did not seem to work & shower was over the bath. The laundry room had everything you needed , only complaint was ironing board required a new cover as you could feel metal when ironing clothes. Areas of apartment needed better cleaning and pillows on beds were cheap (this is a big thing for me), had neck ache. The curtains in both bedrooms had stains. We hired a car and each apartment has its own space in underground car park adjacent to property which was great.
Such a shame as I think with some attention the apartment could be great!!

These units are very central to The Esplanade, restaurants, aquarium and jetty tours with beautiful views. Elizabeth is a prompt, communicative and helpful manager. Unit 42 however, despite being premium, had dated bathrooms, a dreadful in window air conditioner that kept us awake clunking with the humidity, ( even after switched off) , clogged aircon filters, and stains on lounge, tiles and walls. The water damage on balcony and hallway are a somewhat concerning body corporate issue. The central location also exposes you to the usual daily morning garbage collection and construction/ traffic noise .

I stayed in a 2 bedroom with 2 bathrooms premium apartment. The open plan kitchen, dining and living area certainly enhances the spaciousness of the apartment. The balcony was a great place to enjoy my morning coffee with views of the water and mountains.
Location was perfect, right on the esplanade; next to the RSL, cafes, restaurants and on a quiet street.
Free wi-fi and free Foxtel and a car space was provided.
The furniture is outdated (tired looking and old) although clean and functional.
It was a good stay overall. If you have a car, before checking out, suggest to use the apartment key to open the roller doors (out of the car park) before returning the keys.
That was a problem I didn't anticipate as I had returned my keys prior to exiting the car park. Luckily the cleaner was around in the car park and we exited with his help.

We've had a few stays at Cairns Aquarius - we love the ocean view that every apartment offers, and we keep coming back for more. We were allocated apartment 73 for our stay this year. What a treat (and thanks for the upgrade!) - the apartment is stylishly decorated with the most comfortable beds for a great nights sleep, you will find yourself awaking refreshed and ready to explore the tropics. We should also mention the rock star car park right by the door. Cairns Aquarius is central to everything - restaurants, shopping, the marina for tours to the reef and sunset cruises. If you have booked a tour, most tour operators will pick up from the main entrance. We love Cairns, we love the Aquarius, and we are about to make yet another booking!
