We recently stayed at the Cairns Sheridan Hotel for seven nights and We must say, it was an amazing experience. the hotel itself is nice and clean, with comfortable atmosphere. The location is good with a lot of busses along Sheridan street and Uber-Taxi will come to pick you up in front of the Hotel. But what truly made our stay exceptional were the staff members, Leanne and Sebastian. Their friendly and helpful demeanor made us feel at home and ensured that we had a comfortable stay. They went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed and their attention to detail was exceptional. We highly recommended the Cairns Sheridan Hotel, not just for its lovely accommodations but also for the fantastic staff, especially Leanne and Sebastian. Thank you for making our stay a memorable one!

This was a pleasant, OK stay. The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom was also clean and spacious. The combined shower/bath needs a makeover, but the hot water is instant and there is excellent pressure and flow. Check in and check out were quick, friendly and efficient with check out offering to arrange a taxi to the airport which arrived in 3 minutes. It is in a great location for an overnight stay for the airport and Dunwoodys next door. A bit of a walk to the city centre, but there are regular buses right out front. A nice swimming pool next to the deck section of the restaurant. There are reading lights, powerpoints and USB charging stations next to the bed on both sides, something which is sadly lacking in many hotels. The Wi-Fi in the room was often sketchy, but good in the restaurant. Considering the heavy traffic outside, it was pretty quiet, though they could do with black out curtains. Unfortunately there were some incredibly rude people slamming doors and standing in the corridor having loud conversations for some time from 4.30am which was frustrating to say the least, though the hotel can't be blamed for bad behaviour. The restaurant wasn't too bad and the service good. Overall, an OK stay.

We booked online and had no great expectations based on the price however we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived just after 8 o’clock in the evening and the check-in staff advised us that the restaurant would be open for another 15 minutes to give us an opportunity to grab a bite to eat. The food in Palms restaurant was magnificent and the service was friendly and not overbearing. It’s a pleasant surprise when the staff wait until you’ve had a chance to actually taste your food before asking if everything is okay 😀I can highly recommend the salt and pepper calamari. The price also included a full breakfast which was more than adequate for our needs. They also make a very good coffee. The room was clean and tidy with good towels and sheets and more than comfortable with all the usual facilities you expect The hotel is obviously a little bit older but seems to be very well cared for and all the staff that we encountered were very friendly and appeared to enjoy their jobs. I would definitely return to stay here based on our experience and suggest that if you’re looking for a budget priced hotel with customer service and facilities that exceeds the price you paid then this is a great option

Thank you so much for your generous review. We do try very hard to keep our service standards up during this difficult time in Cairns. We are so appreciative to get such good feedback that can be passed on to all our staff. Thanks again.

This hotel was part of a package that we had paid extra money for a luxury 4.5/5 star hotel. This hotel is NOT 4.5 stars even though booking.com gives it that rating or even 4 stars as other agencies rate it. If your are a tourist in Cairns this hotel is NOT for you. It is 3 km from the CBD, their courtesy bus doesn't operate any more, so be prepared to pay up to $18 each way in a taxi to visit the CBD where most tourist attractions are. Breakfast is very basic with a limited selection. But of main concern was the cleanliness of the bathrooms. (see attached photos) We had to move rooms as we considered the mould on the floor was a risk to our health. The baths in each room were also dangerous, with no non-slip mat in them if you were showering and for older guests very difficult to get in and out of. The room we were then given was not much better and located on the main highway north hence very noisy. While the hotel states that it has recently been upgraded, hence the 4/4.5 star rating, there were still some older appliances left behind (see attached photo) We had to stay here as the tours we had paid for as part of our package were scheduled to pick us up here. Very disappointed. Moral to the story DO NOT rely on star ratings!

This establishment is more than suitable at a reasonable price for short or medium term stays.
Downsides: As other reviews mentioned, the decor is quite outdated, and specifically in the bathroom we have so far found that the shower heads are much too low to accommodate taller people (we are 5"7 & 6ft) and are unmoveable. The pool is in need of a good clean considering it is under palm tree so tree litter has fallen in. The breakfast included option at this time is a small variety of food given on a plate not in buffet style due to covid restrictions, this is fine. We ordered the full breakfast which came with what seemed like steamed bacon and eggs, toast, baked beans, tomato and sausages. If we had not paid for the breakfast included option this would be $25 which I find to be excessive for what it is, as we found it relatively mediocre. The air con vent in our room also drips internally which is quite irritating.
Upsides: Comfy bed, standard room but spacious, spacious bathroom despite its flaws, the lady working night time check in was lovely and helpful, there is a big wall full of flyers for attractions in the area. Covid restrictions are considered and they do well to keep guests safe.
I wouldn't recommend you stay here if you want a luxurious stay, but it is good enough for a budget option.

Thank you for your comments. We agree and we have had similar feedback that things were getting a bit tired. That's why we have just completed a full refurbishment to every room in the hotel. Now our modern rooms with new paint, carpet, beds, furniture and 50" Smart TV's offer a much improved stay for all our guests. Power point access with USB chargers and LED strip lights add to the complete ambiance of our new rooms. We have taken notice as we do with all our reviews. Thank you.

The Sheridan was booked for us as part of a package. We were impressed. It is a hotel that we would love to return to. While the location at first appeared nondescript, a fair distance from the city centre, we soon learned that we were close to a great park by the water and that the walk into the centre was simply beautiful. And not only that, the bus service from just outside the hotel (reception alerted us to this) is frequent, even in the evening, to the city centre and also took us to Palm Cove. As for our refurbished room, it was entirely pleasant and comfortable. Large, modern and spotlessly clean, the mattresses deserve special praise. The guest laundry was a bonus. Staff were genuinely friendly throughout our stay.

Hotel at the time or our stay was undergoing renovations which is never a good thing. That said the bathrooms certainly need it with still the shower over the bath. Hotel location is far from ideal. If you want to be close to the city Centre then give this hotel a miss. The location also exposes the rooms to significant road noise which is a huge negative. On site parking is very limited another significant negative particularly if you are traveling by car and have it loaded with gear. This is not what I expected from a Sheridan hotel and I must accept I made a bad choice which will not happen again. The room aside the bathroom was clean and well presented as was the general environs of the hotel aside the mess and clutter associated with the renovations. I really believe that hotels undertaking renovations should declare it on their website so as a customer you know what you are in for otherwise you are paying for something you are not actually getting. No chance of a sleep-in as the workmen were at at 0830. The staff are helpful and friendly but it does not compensate for the negatives.

Thanks for your comments. Good news is the renovations are complete so no more workers and all our car parks are now free. We had the renovations on our website but you would have booked through some third party site of which there are thousands so impossible to change every site. If you had have done some travel research you would have seen our notice about the refurbishment and also you would have possibly realised that there are no Sheraton’s in Cairns. Like any author, if you are going to tell a story, do your research and get the facts right.

Stayed here for 2 nights over easter. Chose a King room and on arrival were upgraded to a King Suite on Level 5. View across to Cairns and up to the mountains was very relaxing and with a largish lounge area separate to the King bedroom there is plenty of room to relax if it is an extended stay. For those who like the exercise its not s huge walk into the city especially if you go a few blocks to the foreshore parklands and wander along that way. Busses (quite a few) run along Sheridan Street as an alternate and a taxi ride is only a few $. Airport is also a short taxi trip and the hotel will have one outside within minutes as they did for us a couple of times. Hotel staff are very helpful and the restaurant serve very good meals. We ate there 3 times for evening meals. Next door is Dunwoody's Hotel which offers a great alternate for an evening meal or a nights entertainment (once their renovations are complete).

The hotel is great, with spacious and clean rooms. There is a small fridge in the room, which allows you to get a few things for breakfast, and within a short walk, you will find a small grocery store. The staff is really friendly and helpful, making sure you have everything you need. They can even book your tours very reliably. You have to realize though, that there are not a ton of restaurants around you and you will need to walk 2 miles to get to the pier for a snorkeling day or go out for dinner. Of course, you can take a quick cab, just know that you are not in the middle of everything but kinda outside the CBD. It all depends on what you are looking for

We booked here Easter Saturday and Sunday prior to a tour and arrived back here tonight end of tour. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are lovely. We have a deluxe queen suite but last week were upgraded to a king suite white had a lounge and separate bedroom. We ate in the restaurant over the three nights and meals delicious. The whole experience being here has been perfect. There is a bus outside to get into town if no transport. There is a hotel next door Dunwoody which I be I eve the meals are great but none served at present due to renos. The waitress from breakfast our first night made us a breakfast tray for the following morning as we had to leave early. Nothing has been too much trouble. Excellent place to stay

Hi Ilona. Currently we are offering free breakfast and wifi if you book on our Cairns Sheridan website which offers the very best rate that you can get online. We have are own restaurant and there are a few cafes and shops near us. We have a shuttle bus that takes guests to the main shopping areas on request. Hope to see you soon.
Hi Liz
Unfortunately we don't have an airport pick up service but we may be able to drop you back at the airport, depending on your fight times. Taxi is definitely the quickest and easiest way of getting to the hotel. Should cost around $20. Hope to see you soon.
Best regards
Stuart
