The Pacific Hotel Cairns boasts a prime central location, a hit among travelers for its proximity to local attractions and waterfront. Guests enjoy the hotel's amenities, especially the inviting pool and satisfying breakfast, although some have encountered issues with WiFi and service.
The atmosphere is praised, with clean and bright rooms offering comfort, but there have been minor cleanliness and room service hiccups. While the rooms provide pleasant views, inconsistent internet and security concerns have been noted, leading to mixed feelings about the hotel's overall value.

Great location, clean and tidy, basic buffet breakfast $20 per person - coffee machine broken :(
Within walking distance to shops, eateries (markets), you do hear a little outside noise during the night (people talking or yelling) and birds on dusk are loud but ok. This is a hotel so don't expect all the bells and whistles.
Rooms are cleaned every second day during our 5 night stay.
Outdoor parking available for a fee.

The location of hotel and the view from the rooms are absolutely delightful. I have attached some pictures I took from my room during sun set. See it yourself. We stayed at a corner room on the eighth floor.
The location of this hotel is killing. You have the esplanade ( evening leisure walk) , night market ( cheap food and shopping), 24/ 7 Mcdonalds ( only place with a AUD 2 burger on the menu) local bus stand and the kuranda central rail station ( scenic rail tour) within walking distance. We did not rent any cars and were only using public buses plus tour pick ups. But we never felt inconvenienced. The only downside of the hotel is poor WiFi connection in hotel rooms. We could not use WiFi in our room most days. Although the hotel management spent efforts to restore it based on our complain. Not sure if this was a room specific issue. The wifi connection at hotel lobby works fine. So you have to plan your large photo uploads etc accordingly if on limited roaming mobile plans. I will highly recommend this place nevertheless.

We booked this hotel based on the excellent location - we were easily able to walk around the Cairns CBD. The room was beautifully decorated (a Tropical Luxe room).
Arriving with several suitcases, a baby and a pram, we were advised our room was on the third floor, which resulted in us having to walk down several flights of stairs with all our bags. When we were heading out, I mentioned this to the staff member concerned and he was not interested in taking this feedback at all - however, the other staff member was very friendly and apologised for this.
Upon arriving in our room, which was absolutely spotless, we noticed the TV did not switch on and there was only one towel provided. These things were dealt with straight away and we really enjoyed our stay.
We went to have breakfast at the restaurant downstairs - there is a good variety of food that you would expect for a $25 buffet breakfast. The staff member advised the charge would be added to our room but did not assist us any further, I was unable to find anyone to help us with a high chair for our baby, so we ended up going back and asking her for help.
The pool was lovely and there was also plenty of seating in the pool area in the shade. Parking is also easy and secure.
We really enjoyed our stay. While the service is not at the level of other hotels in the area, the issues we had were only small and we would stay here again.

This hotel must have found its stars in a surprise bag:
Upon arrival, you are told that the rooms are only made one day out of three (When you stay three days it makes you feel better).
Then an elevator breaks down and stays that way for three days. These are also the three days when the restaurant is closed, except for breakfast (otherwise ok but nothing more).
Then there is no laundry service. We tell you you have a choice: either use a self-service washing machine and dryer on the fourth floor for six dollars each (Obviously, that's what you want to do: spend an hour in front of each machine when you are on vacation) or do your laundry yourself in your sink. (Obviously this sink does not have a drain and is 6 cm deep). As the humidity reaches 80% this season (I wonder what it is like during the rainy season), it is unrealistic to think that even the smallest pair of panties will dry out in less than three days. Furthermore, in the bathtub there is a line to attach clothes to dry, but the coat racks on which they could be put do not have a hook but a small ball which makes it impossible to attach them to the line. Besides, these little balls are so small that they already have difficulty holding on to the ring where they have to be hung in the cupboard.
I forgot some, but this already gives you a good idea…
The only positives we found are that there is a nice pool (which we didn't see used) and that the pillows are soft.
There are surely better hotels in Cairns even if they have fewer stars.

Good location.
Poor housekeeping. We were informed at check-in that rooms would be serviced every 3 days. Stayed from 22-27 May 2024, bed linens were never changed.nor straightened. Fresh towels were provided every other day, but the used towels were not removed from the room. Trash not always picked up either. One time trash bag filled with rubbish was left on the tv counter on top of my papers. Some of the in-room instant coffee packets must’ve been really old as they had solidified.

Advertised as having free WiFi, but the speed was terrible and nothing would load.
Advertised as child stays for free, but later (when it was too late to cancel) advised it was going to be $70 a night for an extra bed in the room. (We declined and he stayed in our bed).
Air conditioning only had a high/medium/low setting.
Some of the milk cartons in the fridge had been there a while and had curdled.
Pool area was nice, a bit smaller than we expected from the photos.
Restaurant was amazing, would highly recommend visiting.
Location was brilliant.
All in all, this wasn’t a 4* hotel but was a good choice for the location. It would have gotten a higher rating from me if they didn’t speed limit the wifi so much that it was unusable and if they were honest about the child bed when booking.

We checked in at 3 PM and found that the internet did not work in our room, only in the lobby. They said that they would fix it in the next 15 minutes, so I took the rental car back to the airport and returned by Uber 45 minutes later. Still no internet in our room and on-then off-then on-then off internet in my son's room across the hall. Called and told 15 more minutes. the manager David came up and replaced the router about an hour later. Now being too late to go to the dive shop for our live aboard and not willing to leave my wife four days in Cairns without internet, I told the manager David that I was cancelling and booking at the Hilton across the street. About ten minutes later he said, " I have it fixed, see?" and google did show up on my computer. for about 30 seconds. I told him that I had already booked across the street. We gathered our suitcases, and went down to the lobby. He then told me he would have to charge us the first night for the two rooms we had booked. I said, "I am cancelling because there is no internet in the room." He said that he had fixed it. he had not. After some "discussion" he said that he could not refund the first night, but then changed and said that he would for one room, not both. Frustrated and tired I said yes and took the money grab at face value. then it took another 45 minutes to refund the payment for two rooms for four nights. the machines "maxed out the refund ability", David the manager did not know how to make any effort, but the young clerk helped him, and so it ended up being a long time. Ironically, during the lengthy wait, another guest came up and told them that she could not get internet in her room. They were NOT surprised, which leads me to believe that this is a regular occurrence and the management just does not care. They have many large tour groups booked, and don't really mind losing some dissatisfied customers. The room looked fine, the location is fine, the internet is terrible. SO, if you don't care about internet connectivity, it is an OK place to stay. If you would like to remain connected then I would suggest you stay across the street at the Hilton, or any of the comparable hotels nearby.

Staff very friendly and attentive. Room lovely and clean. Bed sheets a little too crunchy! but we slept very well.
The Bushfire Restaurant Buffet Breakfast was well worth the $20, with many choices. Location of the Hotel to the Casio is an advantage (if you like Gambling) or just Eating out.

My partner and I stayed for 1 night and then returned for another 2 nights. We booked the superior room and enjoyed being on the higher floor.
The room was a decent size and had everything we needed. The shampoo, conditioner, shower gel etc are lovely and I enjoyed that they weren’t tiny bottles that get thrown in the bin.
Accommodation in cairns is pricey, so for the $185 ish per night I was very happy with the room and hotel in general.
Only downside was that during our 2nd stay the bathroom wasn’t particularly clean and the towels were very stained. I ran into housekeeping and they kindly gave me replacements.
It was a busy time of year and seems housekeeping have a lot of work to do.

Room is clean and okay, but very outdated and needs some upgrading. The bed was two singles pushed together with one thin bed sheet, so not the best nights sleep. Bathroom is half renovated with a new sink, other half needs to either be deep cleaned or updated.
Room service options are very minimal, in fact the menu on the tv is incorrect and not available. The location is great so easy to walk to a nearby restaurant or take away.
TV is very small and didn’t work well. Free to air options available.
Parking on site is minimal (maybe 20 or so spots) and upon checking in when asking the receptionist the response was “it’s first in best dressed” so have a back up plan for parking if you have a car.
The rooms aren’t very sound proof so all night you can hear other doors slamming and people talking in the corridors.
Would really only recommend this hotel for an overnight stay if you have to, but for the price I did expect more.
