Pros: Manager Peter was welcoming and helpful regarding the local area. Cleaning ladies were lovely. Room was clean. Excellent location within walking distance to everything. Great shower.

Cons: Bed felt like a concrete block and small flimsy pillows. Bed had only sheets and the first night I was cold, had to ask for a doona. This should be provided for comfort and warmth, regardless of climate. Doona was given to me without a cover which is pretty horrible. Blankets were in the wardrobe but my guess was they had been used by other guests and weren't clean.

Wouldn't have booked if we knew that there was no daily cleaning service, this wasn't mentioned on booking.com and also the first time we have experienced this anywhere in our travels. This was very frustrating having to ask cleaning staff doing other rooms for soap, toilet paper and towels etc. Also very frustrating have full rubbish bin - our room was only serviced once on a 5 night stay.

We had an interesting start to our stay here. We were kindly given an upgrade by the friendly Manager Peter. We were told that our original room was ready and cleaned. We walked in and this was not the case. So we went back and secured another room. The room we got, was the one that featured in the hotel’s website. It is a large room, which has room for a QS bed, sofa, large tv, desk and bathroom. The bathroom came with shampoo, conditioner and soap etc. There’s also an iron, ironing board and hairdryer, coffee and tea making facilities. Much was spoken about this hotel being four star. On the whole, the second room was clean, but not spotless. The bed was extremely comfortable and there were plenty of pillows to choose so that you got one that suited you. We were at the front of the hotel too, but found it quieter than what we expected. There was very little noise and that was during the weekend. However, the tap in the bathroom was broken, which made it flop. The Manager said that it was going to be fixed that day. We were there three days and it was still waiting to be fixed. The curtains also needed a bit of reconnection to the track and the only sheer curtain was torn. Having both windows with sheer curtains would have been nice as the second window allowed people to see in from the street, which looked straight into the bathroom.
Saying that, the hotel was reasonably priced for what we got and is close to all places that you might wish to visit, or eat and the Manager was friendly.
With just a bit of tweaking, this hotel could really be a gem.

Our recent stay was nothing short of wonderful! From the cheerful reception to the well appointed spacious rooms and common areas, this boutique hotel (tucked amongst the shops on Abbott Street) offers great value for money in the heart of the Cairns CBD. Conveniently located steps from Woolie's and across from the Courthouse Gallery and the Cairns Art Gallery, it's an easy walk to the Reef Fleet Terminal for excursions or a wander along the shops & restaurants at the Pier and Marlin Marina. Clean, contemporary, comfortable. With everything you need for a quick getaway, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Interesting fact...there has been a hotel on this site for over 100 years!

We had a great stay for a week. The location is excellent and the room was comfortable and clean.
The esplanade is walking distance and getting to the dive boats is easy.

Centrally located with easy access to shopping and restaurants, this newly refurbished boutique hotel is well managed and welcoming (thanks Matthew). We highly recommend this moderately priced accommodation for its comfort, spaciousness and style. We stayed there 3 times in October 2021 and it would be first choice if we stayed there again.

We had three nights at the Abbott Boutique Hotel for the Cairns Indigenous Arts Fair in 2022. The room was clean and comfortable. The history of the hotel is interesting, though the security and privacy concerns about the wrap around verandas make the rooms facing the varanda unable to access it, which is a shame. The promised cardboard cutouts were absent. We enjoyed the great location in the heart of Cairns. Note the rooms are only serviced every three days.

The Abbott Hotel is a gem! It's ideally located so that everything is walkable. My room was clean and spacious (versus other places I stayed in Australia). But what made my stay was the management! Peter was personable, helpful, friendly, super informative and spot on with his recommendations and advice. From suggestions like Herbie's Diner (next door) to day trips to the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, he did not steer me wrong! I enjoyed my stay at the Abbott Hotel and would definitely recommend.

The Abbott Boutique Hotel is located smack bang in Cairns Central; its biggest advantage. Its location is a skip and a hop to Woolworths, cafes, restaurants, and the esplanade. The Reef Casino is a five minute walk. The Abbott Boutique Hotel has a coffee station which is located in a lounge room on level one, where guests can relax. I found the hotel location outstanding, made my way by foot to the night markets, Rusty’s Markets, and Cairns Central shopping centre. Almost anywhere is a walking distance to Abbott Boutique Hotel.
