I like this hotel, but apparently they don't like me, which has left me speechless, so I'll on the positives...
Its close and walking distance from Central Station, although uphill.
I'm traveling solo and the room size, comfort levels perfect for me.
Everything is fresh clean and comfortable.
Very comfortable bed with 4 pillows, 2 x soft & 2 x firm.
Small fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, safe, hairdryer, and small wardrobe with luggage area.
The use of colour in the room and public areas is very effective not to mention the smart use of space in the room
Bathroom has glass walls and well designed where the door to bathroom doubles as a shower door, lovely !
A free breakfast is included in the rate which is simple, yet ample ,which seems to vary in hot food options days to day.
Value for money is excellent
Location also good, nothing too far away, walked everywhere.

We booked this Hotel months before our travel dates and were not disappointed upon arrival. Despite arriving prior to 2PM check in the staff were very friendly and offered us an available room.
The room was well laid out and the bathroom door doubling as the shower door was very clever. The blackout blinds worked great and shut out all exterior lights. Breakfast in the morning was standard hotel buffet selection but it was ample and good choices.
My wife and I both have difficulty walking but found the walk into the CBD was easy enough.

We stayed for one night arriving on Thursday 16/01/20 at approximately 10:30am, we were offered early check-in & stayed in room 605 level six.
The hotel is modern & spacious with professional friendly staff, breakfast was excellent & evening meals was good value. Snacks & drinks can be ordered throughout the day from the main reception area. Overall a pleasant stay & we were offered a later check-out time until midday.
Less than a 10 min taxi drive to Queen St Mall.

I have now had 4-5 stays at this hotel and thought this hotel was very good on each occasion.

Great value, honest breakfast, and quite close to Central Station, so a short walk from the airport train. Area is very quiet and the only negative I found was the distance to the centre of Brisbane which is probably 10-15 minute walk.

On this visit I noticed that my tea and coffee supplies as well as toiletries were not replenished. I contacted reception, who advised that they would contact housekeeping to arrange replenishment. Still no supplies were provided.

After speaking to several staff members, they confirmed that the owners were trialling no replenishments of either unless the customer requests it. This is very poor practice for a reputable 4 star hotel.

Management are very short sighted as this short term saving will result in long term losses. I for one who visit Brisbane and stay regularly will change hotels if this practice continues.

I can only rank the review 3 out of 5 stars as I found it a real annoyance as I had run out of coffee, milk and soap on my second night. The third night I was supplied after complaining and making a request which shouldn’t be necessary.

I know the staff I spoke with were very embarrassed and hoped this policy will change.

tommomelbourne, Please let me start by thanking you for your continued loyalty to Holiday Inn Express Brisbane Central. It is great to hear that you have enjoyed many great stays with us but I am bitterly disappointed and apologetic that your most recent stay was not up to the usual standard. We are in the process of tweaking our daily housekeeping service routines however having a guest run out of amenities is not at all the aim of what is trying to be achieved. We certainly do not want to compromise on guest service and only want to eliminate unnecessary waste. Your feedback will certainly be taken on board as we aim to provide a high level of service in line with an international 4 star brand as you state. When you next book to stay with us I offer for you to contact me directly so that I can meet with you face to face and re-instill your faith in our great hotel. Many thanks, Michael Foster

Second time stay and so impressed with this hotel - great nightly price that includes buffet breakfast. Make sure you sign up to IHG Rewards Club. Rooms are well designed and modern with a choice of soft or firm pillow comfort. Staff are very friendly and helpful. As a lover of live music, the location is great, within walking distance to vibrant Fortitude Valley and close to Brisbane CBD. The buffet breakfast is very satisfying with hot and cold choices, great coffee and lots of seating.

Excellent, clean and well appointed room. Small but plenty of space for a short stay.

All toiletries were provided and there's even a complimentary service if you forget anything!

The included buffet breakfast was awesome. Great tasting, hot and fresh with every option you could think of.

Hotel is walking distance to pretty much anywhere in the city, I will definitely stay here again.

Just finished a 4 night stay here. Rooms are spacious and well equipped for a Holiday Inn express and were spotlessly clean. Buffet breakfast was fairly extensive and gave us a good start for our days in Brisbane.

Location appears to be a bit out of main area but once you get your bearings it’s ideal. All the main parts of the city are only a 10/15 minute walk away and the location is very quiet at night, ideal for us.

Overall a very positive experience and I’d fully recommend this hotel for staying in Brisbane..

We stopped at this hotel for 3 nights after a cruise around New Zealand as the price was good and they offerred an included breakfast. We arrived before the usual check in time and luckily were given our room straight away which meant we could unpack and get out to enjoy the day.The room was of a decent size with tea and coffee making facilities and bathroom with shower. It is quite centrally located so facilities are within a short walk. There is also a free bus in Brisbane that does a loop and drops off within a short walk from the hotel,we found this really useful for getting around. The breakfast had a good choice of foods available but was quite busy at times and things did run out but the staff replaced them fairly quickly. The staff at the restaurant and the front desk were all very friendly too. They did have a happy hour for drinks which was good but it was just 1 hour! We enjoyed our stay and would use them again if in the area.

I have stayed at this property several times over the past few years and unfortunately the cleanliness of the rooms and the quality of the breakfast has been declining with each stay. We stayed this time around as it was located near where we had to go.

To begin with, upon arriving into the room we instantly noticed the left over takeaway food and the overall cleanliness of the carpet. It seemed to not have been vacuumed well for quite some time. When showering the following morning, there were also a number of fruit flies in the shower cavity.

In the morning upon leaving the hotel I asked the receptionist if the house keeping team could address both the carpet and the fruit flies. I don't think I asked for the attitude but when we returned the carpet had been cleaned more, the left over food was gone, but the fruit flies remained.

This is the second time we have come to the room at this hotel and found rubbish had been left behind. The last stay we had a rubbish bag left behind the ottoman.

We also needed to iron clothes but with a lot of hotels they are not cared for and tend to damage your clothing. We tested the iron and the black soot which came out completely ruined the towel we tested it with, thank goodness we have learnt by earlier incidents as it's a general hotel problem. Thankfully they brought us a new iron.

Breakfast used to be a good deal as it comes with the room rate. Unfortunately this time the quality seemed to have really declined.

I work in the travel industry on a part-time basis but my primary job is in professional services and I would no longer recommend this property to my team when travelling. I cancelled my future reservation with them (next week) and probably won't return, which is a shame because it used to be great.

Brisbane doesn't have a Capri by Forbes only a Capri by Fraser. There are 2 places that cruise ships dock in Brisbane and it depends on the size of the vessel. Brisbane Portside is close to the city and Fisherman's Island much further out. Check with your cruise company and then look up in Google Maps so you can select your mode of transport. Neither is walking distance.

Taxi would be probably the easiest. They have taxi rank's at both Domestic and International airport with rank supervisors there. They will be able to organise a taxi for whatever party size you have :)
