Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I arrived to the hotel before noon and the front desk said the room was ready but I would have to pay a $30AUD fee to access the room. Are you kidding me? This is an IBIS and not the Ritz Carlton. So then after waiting in line at 2 pm before all the other guests checking in I request a room on a higher floor and I am told that rooms in high floors are only for "premium" members. I have stayed at IBIS hotels around the globe and I never have heard of this nonsense. During the previous week I stayed at IBIS Stlyes Kingsgate in Melbourne and got a high floor and access to my room before noon.

The hotel is centrally located right next to the Queen Street Mall and not too far from bus stops, the ferry or the train station. Perfect for a city trip. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable but the size of the room is a bit on the smaller side. If you go for a corner room - those are a bit bigger but also cost more. As the hotel is so central, I'd always ask for a room on the upper floors far away from the streets and the views are nicer, especially if you book a river view room. Rooms have all the necessary basic amenities. Check-in and check-out were ok. Late checkout until 5 pm was available for a fee. Good option if you have a late evening flight and want to take a shower before the flight. A free laundry is available and a plus. Last time though it seemed as if the dryers were blocked by hotel laundry when I wanted to use it so I skipped the washing. If available for a cheap price, I'd book the hotel again.

Very noisy. Bad soundproofing. Can hear people walking past the room, loud music from partying next door and vibrations from slamming the doors, jumping and moving the bed. Drunks did try to open my room door. Do not stay if you want decent sleep Other than bad sound proofing, room is basic and somewhat clean. City location, budget price, so expect love birds and drunks

Great location and the room was clean and comfortable. Just two cautions. There is a bar next door - so when they have live music it is loud, also don't bother with the in house breakfast. It's way over priced and no-way is it value for money. There are plenty of better (and cheaper) options close by on Queens Mall. Despite that we would use this hotel again when in Brisbane

Ibis Styles Elizabeth Street (Unit 2606, Penthouse Riverview) ---PROS: 1. Free on-site laundry room for guests. 2. Nice rooms with great views. 3. Comfortable king beds with soft and cozy linens. 4. Big bottles of complimentary soap and body wash. 5. Quiet place. 6. Best location in Brisbane. Super central to all public transport, walkable everywhere, tons of restaurants, pubs, and coffee shops nearby. 7. In-room wine glasses, drinking glasses, tea/coffee pot, fridge, desk/workstation, dual nightstands with reading lights, and a secure/bolted safe deposit box with customizable digital code. 8. Amazing views of Southbank and the Brisbane River. 9. North Quay CityCat ferry terminal is very close, as is Central Station, Queen Street Mall, and King George Square. Perfectly located for all the public transport you need (do NOT rent a car if staying here -- total waste of money and expensive parking!) 10. Free luggage storage available before checkin and after checkout. ---CONS: 1. Worst check-in process ever. After arguing with the duty manager for 15-minutes, I demanded, repeatedly, to speak with the hotel general manager who then was able to promptly resolve the credit card deposit issue. Moreover, I tried to check in at 10am and was told the room is available but I would need to spend around $35 to check-in early, so I just left my bags there at the front desk and came back later to avoid the needless fee. 2. Hotel staff often uses the limited guest laundry facilities to dry bed comforters, which defeats the purpose of offering laundry facilities to guests if the machines are in use by and for the hotel. 3. Wifi requires a new manual connection each day, which is annoying when staying for a week or longer, like I did. 4. Interior security deadbolt on entry door is disabled. 5. Toilets do not have bidets. 6. No in-room microwave. 7. No universal/travel or USB powerpoints. 8. No easy checkout process. Must wait in long queue to checkout.

I had a 4 night stay at this budget friendly hotel in a King Room. Location was excellent with Queen Street Mall a block away and there are lots of pubs and restaurants close by. Even Central Station was only a short walk away. As I had read reviews that suggested the Irish Pub next door is quite noisy I asked for a high floor away from the pub. This request was granted. The room was extremely quiet and had great views towards Southbank and the Brisbane River. Laundry is on the 4th floor which I utilised once during my stay. Washer and dryers are free and reception will also provide laundry detergent at no cost. The bar area is on the 1st floor and as a silver member received two free drinks which I consumed here. The only issue I had during my stay was after fast checkout where I just dropped the room key back as my room was already prepaid I had some unauthorised breakfast charges on my credit card account. I did not aurhorise to have breakfast nor did I have any. Annoyingly it took several calls and eventually an escalated email to the manager before it was resolved. If the prices are competitive I would be more than happy to return to this hotel.

A quick weekend trip, we were on the 23rd floor and had great views. The room was a corner River View room, it was somewhat small and it had a strange configuration making it very tight in places. The bathroom was in the middle of the room leaving a very narrow aisle to walk through between wall and windows . Aside from this the king bed was comfortable, breakfast was good, varied and good value. .Meals were also good. All staff were polite and attentive. Great for a few nights and would stay again. Good location.

This is the best Ibis hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It is an Ibis Styles so standard definitely a bit higher. I booked on a really good rate and as an Accor Plus member was allocated a lovely room overlooking the river on Level 26. Very clean hotel with a comfortable bed. Tea and coffee making facilities and a small gift and drink vouchers as Accor Plus members. Lovely clean bathroom. We had a great sleep before our onward journey to the Gold Coast after a long flight and I will definitely stay here again. The Hotel is centrally located with a small restaurant for dinner and breakfast if required. It’s very close to the Queen street mall and there’s a heap of restaurants as well as supermarket and bottle shops near by.

I’m not sure if this is the worst hotel in Brisbane or I just had the worst room but either way there is a Nightclub across the street that is so loud it might as well be in the room and the staff are useless as they can’t provide any earplugs or sound protection. Do not stay here for business or any reason really unless you want to listen to bad doof doof all night. If I could give zero stars I would. Disgraceful

Spent 6 nights in the hotel this week. Great view from superior room of southbank and the wheel of Brisbane. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious as were the dinners. Very centrally located with shopping centre only a few metres away. Would highly recommend this hotel.
