We live in Brisbane and having had the last 2years being what they were, we needed a little time away from home. The Constance ticked all of our boxes and the service from Ausra, Jacob and the lovely human whose name i cannot remember (late night front desk) was absolutely exceptional. We will defintley be back, but might have to make it 2nights next time

My partner and I stayed at this hotel after struggling to find any accommodation in the city that wasn’t more than $350 or sold out (the next option was the backpackers at about $100 a night). The stay was a short layover from our third international flight. We arrived about 8:00pm and checked in before getting the elevator to our room up on the second floor. As we arrived, the elevator doors opened and I could immediately hear the pub’s music and noise next door. Now, granted we stayed on a Saturday night, however as we walked up the hallway, the music level only increased. It didn’t bode well as we reached the outside of our room. After swiping the key and getting inside, we found the music was even louder than in the hallway (the room bordered the outside of the building, facing the pub). The room’s furnishings were very basic for the price and was missing a hairdryer. We rang reception who said they’d bring one up if they could find a spare, however it was to no avail. 20 minutes later they rang and advised us they were fresh out. Tired and hungry, we decided to get some delivery food to hotel and dull the ever increasing disappointment. Sadly our souls were crushed a little further when we discovered the only cutlery available was a couple of teaspoons in the draws. It certainly made eating my noodles interesting… We climbed onto the bed and perceived it to be another let down for the cost. The pillows were uninspiringly soft, along with the mattress. At least the sheets were clean, so that was something. My partner and I attempted to gain some much needed sleep after 22 hours in the air, however could hear cars revving in the street and people yelling “yeeewwwl” on the odd occasion, in addition to what seemed like an ever increasing level of noise from next door’s watering hole. We decided to turn on the TV and try drown out noise, how this was another fruitless effort. The TV remote provided two functions, on and off. We were unable to get past the home screen every time it turned on and eventually gave up. Now exhausted, I dug some ear plugs out of my bag in a final attempt to get some blissful slumber, succeeding a few after hours later. I woke again at 2:30 AM, when the volume level had increased past 11, making my ear plugs pretty much null and void. I was finally granted some sweet relief when the music stopped at 3:00 AM and dosed back off. We checked out a few hours later to catch our final domestic flight, somehow feeling even more tired than when we arrived. To say I was pissed off would be an understatement. The ironic thing about the whole experience is we’d probably would of slept better at the backpackers for three quarters less of the cost. I don’t recommend, particularly on a weekend.

My room was musty smelling, ceiling had obvious water damage marks and a small area of mould. I advised front desk and nothing happened, perhaps they know and didn’t want to do anything about it. Gym is ok and being on the roof is quite nice, but it’s small.

Dear 556phillipr, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay. We are very disappointed to hear of your negative experience. This is clearly not the level of satisfaction we strive to achieve. Please rest assured this matter has been taken seriously and your comments shared with General Manager. 556phillipr, again we thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Our aim is to ensure our service matches your expectations but it appears on this occasion we have fallen short of the mark. We hope that we will have the opportunity to restore your faith in our property one day in the future. Kindest Regards Wayne H Front Office Manager

Our stay at The Constance in Fortitude Valley was only short lived but the staff were very friendly towards us and always helped us with any questions or concerns that we had (such as room keys stopped working randomly, but the girls got it sorted straight away for us and it only took a few minutes.) The only things that I could say that slightly annoyed us during our stay was difficulties with the spa bath cutting out randomly for no reason before coming back on (we let the front house staff know about this on our departure) and also connecting to the TV with chromecast/smartview (also let front house staff know about this) they informed us it was a problem they were having and were looking at fixing it. All in all the stay was enjoyable, and all the staff were friendly and amazing to chat with. Great location, lovely decor, and a reasonable price, cannot wait to visit again in the future.

My partner and I stayed here on a Saturday night. The hotel it self is in a great location and its a nice hotel. The only problem with this place is the pub next-door the noise is amazingly loud and could be heard over the TV. My partner and I left at 1130 pm cause you can't sleep. I emailed the hotel to complain about it, but have received no email back. Seems that they got my money and that's all that matters very poor service

Incredibly interesting building, everywhere you look is an artwork of one of the greats. Hello Rone on the front and all over level one? Service was gorgeously friendly and prompt. Bed was sooo comfortable. It’s just a 5 min walk from James St. Double headed rain shower was luxurious. I felt so special during my stay, thank you to the Constance team, and a special shout out to Niki — providing true hospitality with warmth and professionalism. Thank you, I’ll be back again and again!
