The Amora Hotel Brisbane garners praise for its cleanliness and stylish atmosphere, with guests appreciating the modern renovations and comfortable furnishings. Its coveted location near central station and local attractions is a highlight, though navigating the area can be challenging for some. While the spacious and contemporary rooms are generally celebrated, noise and inconsistent renovation quality are noted drawbacks. The service is commended for its professionalism, yet a few guests have faced delays. Amenities like the pool are well-liked, but the gym and restaurant services receive mixed reviews. Opinions on value are divided; some enjoy the room upgrades, while others find the additional costs for extras and parking to be steep.

It’s between 4 and 5 stars as they are transitioning to a “luxury” hotel so definitely some rooms for improvements.

We liked the location, it’s quieter than CBD but yet walking distance to lot of local attractions. We walked to almost everywhere, and it was perfect in spring weather.

We were on 13th floor and the views was good. The room is newly refurnished and still can smell the new furniture and carpet.

A pleasant surprise and kind gesture - the minibar is complimentary and restocked everyday. It has quite a collection with wines, beers, snacks and soft drinks.

Although the hotel is currently undergoing renovations but the noise was minimal and wasn’t really an issue for us. The reception staff were friendly and always greet us when we in/out of the place.

The gym and pool are adequate, sufficient to maintain your exercise routine. Perhaps to remind guests to wear gym attire at gym, as I saw guests in their bare foot. It can be also challenging as it is next to the pool and sauna.

One thing I encountered twice, and need further training/improvement was the attitude of the housekeeping supervisor. One time she rushed in to the elevator and kept saying “It’s crazy! It’s crazy!” Totally ignored there were other guests presence.
Next day, we saw each other in the morning and there was no greeting or whatsoever, so I asked is she from the house keeping team. She looked up “I’m the supervisor” and the attitude perceived by me was I’m more superior than the rest. I asked her about the refurbishment and noise on weekend, she said reception should inform the guests, and pushed all responsibilities to others, rather than taking the feedback and more proactive approach.
Perhaps she forgotten or need to be reminded or retrained that regardless what her role, she is in hospitality business. A basic greeting and friendly approach to all guests are just essential.

To me, all staff regardless how big or how small of their position, all contribute to the customer experience.

Booked a twin room December 2022 for myself and daughter from Sydney prior to cruise next day. Compared to other "airport / cruise terminal hotels" this was good value choice. Very friendly welcome. Especially tall man at desk. Room was clean and spacious. Shower over bath is slippery, need to be very careful. Good location for business precinct, we walked to city centre mall area for saturday night dinner, easy walk 1500 metres, and an $8 uber back. 2 donkey Cafe and surrounding cafes are closed on weekends making this more suited to business visitors. 10 minute walk to riverside. The breakfast charge of $65 for 2 persons is very expensive, we thought there would be cafes nearby open to have brunch but as a Sunday morning we were resigned to eat at the hotel as all were closed. We didn't use WiFi or other facilities. Uber is best at the 2 donkeys cafe street side. Overall a good hotel best suited for business travellers. Would recommend and stay again.

I stayed at the Amora for 2 nights in May 2022.

This stay really didn't work for me. The hotel is located on the fringe of the city - not really close to anywhere you need to be.

Rooms are aging. At some stage fairly recently they have had a very cosmetic makeover, but bathrooms are still very much fixed in the 1990s. From signage in the lobby there is a more substantial upgrade planned for some time in the future....it is overdue.

I was annoyed to find when I returned to my hotel for the second night that the room had not been made up. Apparently for stays of 3 nights or less, there is no housekeeping service. This is due to the inability of the hotel to recruit staff. For a facility charging more than $250 a night for very basic rooms, this is really quite poor - guests would be better served staying at one of the many 'serviced apartments' in the city, which offer a higher standard of room in a more convenient location for a similar price.

So, a bit disappointing. Despite the brand, this hotel is absolutely not up to the standard of other facilities in the group.

Hi Ian, many thanks for taking the time to let us know about your recent stay. We’re sorry to hear that your visit didn’t meet expectations. As you have noted, we have a major refurbishment planned to commence later this year, which we are looking forward to and we’re sure our guests will enjoy the new look and facilities this brings. Recruitment across the entire hospitality industry is currently challenging and we apologise if our temporary changes to servicing schedules caused you inconvenience. We are steadily gaining traction with this, as are many other hotels and it is our main focus. I trust all your interactions with our team were friendly and professional, as this is also an important aspect of guest experience. Thank you once again for your feedback, Ian.

Two nights. The only highlight was the lovely May at front desk.
Positives: Very close to central( uphill), room size good, supplied amenities good. Linen good.
The rest was very ordinary. Staff never greeted you or even smiled. Heads down every time I came into or past reception. Room carpet pretty manky and pretty much felted with imbedded dust. ,many fittings loose. The clean was good but vents need doing not sure about room air quality as there was a huge dark skid mark on ceiling from air con. Room was dark and lighting poor with reading lamp loose in fixture. Lots of door slamming and noises from above and hallway at all hours leading to poor sleep quality. Checked out as soon as the jackhammering started overhead before 9am, earlier than I wanted to but could not stand the noise and vibration. I was not warned on booking, check in or by notice in room there were renovations occurring.
Was supplied a note pad with a single leaf of notepaper! Go figure that one out.

Thanks for your review, Margaret. We appreciate your feedback, including the in-room amenities, hotel location and service provided by May. We're sorry to hear that some other aspects of service and room presentation were not up to our usual standard and we will certainly address this with the departments concerned. There was some noisy work scheduled as part of our pool deck upgrade and this was timed to commence around 9am on weekdays only, so as not to disturb guests, so we apologise if this caused you concern. All noisy work has now been completed. We hope you will give us the opportunity to look after you on a future occasion and in the meantime we will take action on the points you have raised. This feedback helps us to improve, so thank you once again.

We stayed at this hotel on 29/05/2022 in room 1112, the price per night is elevated ($170) and the cleaning of the rooms is terrible. Our room was not vacuumed, the shower was dirty, the fridge with mould, found white hair on the bed, and light controls on the right-hand side of the bed, were not working.
I think we could have made a better choice and had a better night sleeping in a backpacker. The price and quality of our stay were not pleasant, or either up to the basic cleaning standard.

This was a last minute staycation in the city for a wedding. Although the hotel is under renovations, it was still a nice place to stay. We were allowed early check in at 1pm instead of 2pm which was a huge help to us. Check in and check out was seamless and all staff were very friendly. We stayed in a standard King room on the 4th floor which was very spacious (don't think this floor had been renovated yet as it seemed a little dated), the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom facilities were clean. We opted to have the buffet breakfast which we paid extra as we didn't include it as part of the original booking. Thought it was over priced (at $32 each) as the quality of some of the food, especially the bacon and sausages that were dry and rubbery which is the only reason we're giving a rating of 4 instead of 5. We also took advantage of the on site parking for a nightly cost of $10 (weekend price only). Would definitely be open to staying again in the future but take a stroll to a cafe for breakfast. I recommend this establishment to other travellers.

By foot, the hotel is a bit tricky to access from Central station but once there you can find the short cuts.
The check in was good, with a lovely reception area and very cold aircon. We got a welcome drink due to booking site status and the bar service was great with a nice selection, including craft beers.
The room was more spacious than we expected and the bed was comfy, although a little soft for my preference. Also for such a warm climate the doona was too thick which meant the aircon needed to be lower than preferred.
Very nice modern rooms and clean bathroom that wasn't too pokey. There was good space for two bags to lay flat in the open storage area. The pointed end of the room had a couch, desk and big tv.
The only real problem with the room was the water in the shower was very hard to regulate the temperature. It was either scolding hot or cold. Would expect better on this front from a hotel such as this. Also only one coffee bag was provided in the room (plus tea bags etc), this seems an oversight for a room for two people.
Besides that we thought it was a very good value stay and the location was ideal for what we wanted.
The gym and pool were ok, although the pool could do with some sun shade/umbrellas. Always enough towels for the pool and the filtered water in the gym was great.
Would stay again, especially for the $140AUD we paid per night.

I honestly can’t understand some of the bad reviews. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels the past year in Brisbane and this was by far one of the best and the price is so reasonable. Has a convenient bar and cafe downstairs where we got great coffee in the morning. Reception were quick to bring up extra blanket and pillow and the couch was big enough that when we our youngest child wanted to sleep by himself we put him on it. Location was close to the city and the valley only tip is to wait for Ubers at the back of the building not the front entrance.

Will be back again very soon

Keeping in mind, that the Amora is a '5-star luxury hotel'. My wife and I's stay was a mixed bag. Starting with the positives, the room itself, the bed and the cocktails were very nice. Price to stay is very reasonable. The location is pretty good, however the hill and road its off can be a bit tricky to navigate for both taxis and by-foot.

Unfortunately we had a room that connected to another room via door. The door felt paper-thin, as two out of three nights we stayed we heard talking, the TV, another guests alarm go off (for over an hour) constantly. This resulted in us having pretty bad sleep. The 7 dollar room service charge seems pretty crazy. I tried to organise a hot chocolate while I was down at the bar to my room, but was told its better if I go up and then dial from the room. There was nothing in the mini-bar besides a milk. The foyer carpet that guests sit around is gross and needs a vacuum and carpet wash. There was a few other things but I don't want to make statements that I may have interpreted differently to what they meant.

When we told the receptionist how our stay was regarding the noise and perhaps to let guests know that they've got an interconnected room and to be mindful of noise for the other guest. It was just a "Oh no sorry about that", which is fine, but it maybe would've been nice if they said "Hey really sorry about that, why don't you have a complimentary drink before you go" or something.

This a 'fine' hotel, But it's definitely not luxury or 5-star. If you're happy with a stock standard hotel then it'll suit your needs.
