The Calile Hotel enjoys a prime location that's highly popular for its access to local dining and shopping, despite some concerns about its suitability for families. Guests have called out the clean, spacious rooms and stylish atmosphere, although the tranquility sometimes gets interrupted by noise.
While the staff has been commended for their attentiveness, there are mentions of slow poolside service. Reviewers warn that the hotel might not offer the best value, with some experiences not living up to the cost, despite the praise for its amenities and luxurious design.

Detailed Reviews
Fantastic hotel. Great staff and the restaurants are special.
The only problem is the pool area. Can’t change the size and design of it now but they could have done better. But the real problem is the behaviour of too many guests who think they can own a seat for the day which means you will be lucky to find a spot to drop your towel.
Staff do need to more ruthless about removing towels etc that are reserving pool beds.
And to be clear, the underlying problem is guests who think they are “entitled”

Hotel's Favourite
This is a great hotel to stay in. Comfortable, generous, beautifully designed rooms (and building!) with great facilities and dining options. With super friendly, attentive staff, and well located in the James Street precinct. A very clever design delivering a 'resort hotel' in a location without a beach!

Trendy hotel in trendy Fortitude valley. Two night stay on a brief tourist stop in Brisbane. We were unaware of the QLD Labour Day holiday which made for a very busy couple of days with lots of visitors / families in the area.
All hotel staff we encountered were very friendly, helpful and cheerful. Service by hotel staff was excellent. By example, on our second night when we asked to book a taxi we were offered a transfer by the hotel shuttle to our dinner restaurant in Southbank. Perhaps shuttle is not the right word for a BMW iX electric.
Architecturally the hotel is brilliant. Terrazzo tile in common areas, lots of wood accents, brass fitting and plants. This theme continues in the rooms.
Room was very well equipped, spacious and quiet. Had the most amazing rain shower I've ever experienced! I'd return to the hotel simply for the rain shower. Our room had a balcony (very private) and excellent black out curtains.
Had lunch and dinner in the lobby bar the first day after not finding anything else close by we were happy with. Food was good, prices about as expected for the area. Minor service issue at dinner that was fixed quickly and to our entire satisfaction.
The only negative for me, and hence the 4 not 5 star review, is the bathroom design. The bathroom is separated from the bedroom by sliding panels. Even when fully closed, there are opening on either side between the bedroom and the bathroom. Additionally, the dividing wall does not extend to the ceiling - it is open to the bedroom area above the mirrors. This means if you get up in the night you either disturb your partner by turning the light on or by stumbling around in the dark. I did both. There is a separate, enclosed toilet.
All in all an enjoyable stay is a very good hotel. We will return.

Thank you for taking to time to provide a detailed review of your recent stay with us, Canuck-down-under. It is a pleasure to read about your experience, from the architecture, facilities, and most importantly to us, the service from the team here! Glad to hear that about your time at the Lobby Bar. The facilities and staff service all round is still good, however, for the prices they charge, there really should not be small kids around. This is supposed to be a luxurious and bougie location, yet the atmosphere is constantly spoiled by kids throwing tantrums, water being splashed around with lazy parents who don't control them, both in the lobby bar and poolside. This hotel needs to implement a minimum 12+ age stay, young families don't realise the selfishness of this and should look at the family resorts on the Gold Coast.

Overall, The Calile Brisbane is a decent hotel with an excellent location. One of the highlights of my stay was the pool area, which I found very enjoyable. However, my overall impression of the hotel was mixed due to several issues.
First and foremost, the room. Unfortunately, I was assigned an accessible room, which was extremely uncomfortable for me. The bathroom was fully adapted for wheelchair access, making it very inconvenient. Taking a shower was a real challenge—water would spread all over the floor because it was entirely flat. It was a terrible experience. The hotel was fully booked, so requesting a room change was not an option.
Additionally, the bathroom had another major issue: the sink was clogged, and water drained very slowly. This was one of the key problems that left a negative impression of my stay.
There are also some smaller issues that, while not as critical, are worth mentioning, and I hope the hotel management takes them into consideration:
1. At breakfast, there was neither filter coffee nor batch brew, which I found very odd. Only Americano was available, and it was not good.
2. There was no complimentary water in the room, which is something most hotels provide. The only water available was two bottles of still water in the minibar, but they were ice-cold. When guests arrive after a long journey, they often want to drink water immediately, but with only ice-cold bottles, they have to wait for it to warm up.
3. There was no hotel notepaper with a pen. It’s unclear how guests are supposed to fill out laundry forms without it. Simply providing some paper and a pen, as most hotels do, would be helpful.
4. There was no chat option to contact reception or guest services by WhatsApp, which would have been useful.
5. No turndown service was provided.
6. Upon arrival, there was no welcome letter, fruit, or any small gesture to greet guests. Many hotels offer a warm welcome, but this was missing here.
While the hotel has its strengths, these issues made my stay less enjoyable. I hope the management considers these points for future improvements.

We booked 2 rooms for family of 2 couples.
Let’s start with what I liked.
The check in staff were friendly and the location is perfect for dining, socialising and shopping.
The room was comfortable and good size, there’s a Dyson hair dryer and one of our rooms had a good view of the pool.
Pool staff were nice and efficient.
Now to what I found disappointing.
The room itself was poorly lit, and starting to look old and dated.
Housekeeping did not restock our supplies of bathroom amenities and our parents’ supplies of coffee capsules and tea. Worse, they didn’t wash the cups and glasses in their room. This is really not acceptable.
No complimentary water in the rooms. I’ve stayed in over 5 star hotels in over 300 cities, most provide complimentary water. There was a water filter by the lift which was broken during most of our stay on level 4.
It was my husband’s birthday during the stay, which the check in staff wished him happy birthday, but theres was no gesture to say happy birthday with a little card in the room or cake. In comparison to the hotel we stayed the day before when it wasn’t on his birthday, they surprised him with a cake knowing it was coming up 2 days after.
As someone from Brisbane, who brought my British family to show off Brisbane, and I picked this hotel for their first trip to OZ, I was embarrassed by the poor quality of the stay.
I would not recommend if you want a quality true 5 star experience

An abysmal stay married with incompetent, rude staff, terrible menus and poor customer service.
The hotel presents with all the right aesthetics, classy, chic and great atmosphere, but you would be hard pressed to find a decent breakfast or even order room service without them "miscommunicating" what we had ordered, not to mention the lovely phone call trying to kick us out of our room when we had already requested an extended checkout 3 times! The pool area was beautiful, although if everyone could stop doing a photoshoot they would see the film of grease and grime over the surface of the water making my swim the first and last of my stay. The rooms were lovely in theory, but the dust on the lights, the phone and the brown marks on the tiles in the toilet highlighted how thoroughly (or lack there of) these rooms get cleaned. The real hero's of our stay were the door men and women. Very accommodating, helpful and polite.

How to ruin an experience - go and meet the calile.
The hotel is nice, location is great, the rooms are nicely done. If that was everything to mention, then it would be fantastic, unfortunately, the hotel is everything else then up to standard when it comes to service. As a hotel guest paying a rate in excess of AU$700 per night, one would expect to be treated at least to that standard. In contrast I got pushed around as the hotel is trying to increase revenue from F & B, meaning that a booking for lunch for hotel guest was restricted to two hours without mentioning that at the booking. This is exceptionally rude and not acceptable, as well as for breakfast. Showing up at nine on Sunday there’s plenty of room and only four hotel rooms have breakfast bookings. Instead of giving the guest the possibility to enjoy breakfast I got pushed out after 45 minutes, hearing a lot of blah blah about last-minute bookings that were excepted (interesting excuse honestly, accepting bookings, knowing that there is hotel guests at a table, trying to enjoy breakfast and forgetting about the rudeness of the previous day), and hearing some apologies that do not help at all. All in all I can say if you want to feel treated well and be appreciated as a guest you should not consider to stay at this hotel. If you want to stay in Fortitude Valley under a known brand, regardless of how you get treated for sure this is the right spot to go.
As a last detail about service quality, I may also include a picture of a bug that when I left my hotel room for breakfast was laying there on the ground and on my return will still there even after several Hotel employees have passed by. I understand that this is a very common creature for Australia and seen in many places especially in situations when it is raining, nevertheless, not having it cleared out from employees passing by seems rather inappropriate for a hotel that claims to be top-notch and first class.

Excellent stay!! Am so glad we made the decision to splurge out a little and spoil ourselves! We landed in Brisbane after an 8 hr red eye flight and our holiday began as soon as we stepped foot into the Calile. We loved being in the heart of all the best restaurants (we tried Bianca and were absolutely blown away), the modern amenities of the room, the professional staff, the safety, the vibe and the beautiful aesthetic of the hotel.
Best of all was the underground parking (daily rate $30) - we were able to take the car out to explore Brisbane and safely return to the hotel at night. The lift (secured key card access) took us from the underground carpark right to our hotel room floor and this was a welcome treat after a long day. Can’t wait to be back!

From the moment we pulled up to the Calile our stay was incredible. The valet staff looked suave in their cream suits and Will was exceptional, taking care of our car and luggage while we checked in. We were in an Urban Terrace Room which was very stylish and functional. Especially loved the bathroom and huge shower. Water pressure was brilliant and special touches such as provision of the beautiful Grown Alchemist skincare range and a stool in the bathroom to sit and do your makeup while sipping a champers. Minibar to die for, luxurious bedding, great in room dining options, an array of amazing hotel restaurants. We particularly loved the sunny Lobby Bar in the morning for breakfast. We were in Room 209 with an easterly urban view and it was very quiet during our stay. Loved the balcony for arvo drinks while soaking up the brizzy vibes as the sun went down. Check-out was equally as effortless and professional with the valet staff whisking our luggage away and packing it into our car ready for us to get to the airport. Such a pleasure to stay in a hotel that has really considered the holistic customer experience.
