Great sized rooms and a massive balcony

Great city views.

Comfortable bed.

Simple and quick late check in.

The rooms are a bit old and outdated. However, Mary street is a entrap location that allows for easy access to all parts of the city by foot.

Parking is available but we used on street parking which was fine.

There is a lot of construction happening next door which no issue on the weekend. So I’m unaware of what sort of impact that would have on your stay during the working week.

Hi Petefitz79, Thank you for your honest feedback from your recent stay with us and I'm glad you had a nice night away. We have been working with owners over some time to refurbish apartments up to date and will continue to do so however the current economic climate has certainly hampered these efforts. Construction of the Cross River Rail is well underway with all demolition works completed and now it is excavation and tunneling happening mostly underground. This is generally all day work with some construction noise throughout the day however our glazed windows do well to keep this out. Thank you again for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Kind regards

Stayed here at the beginning of April. The front counter staff are very pleasant and happy to help. There is construction work directly beside the hotel and it's very noisy should you venture outside your room. Fortunately, the rooms seem fairly well insulated to sound. This hotel, to my amazement does not offer Foxtel. I thought this was very unusual and questioned the staff. They said that Foxtel was taken away due to covid. On this subject, the TV supplied in my unit was a very old LG model (only standard definition channels) which was tacky. The rooms were a reasonable size though the bathroom had a horrible setup. The bathroom is equipped with a bath/shower combination. Meaning you had to climb over a tall bath side to access the shower. I'm tall and still found this inconvenient. This would definitely not be suitable for older persons, persons very limited mobility or young children. The view from my room wasn't staggering as I was facing student accommodation. Despite some of my criticisms my stay was enjoyable. I just feel that Mantra may want to upgrade a few items/services.

This motel is in a great location, central to the Brisbane cbd, ferry terminals train stations etc. The 3 bedroom apartment I had was in pretty poor condition. The kitchen was well equipped and had stainless steel appliances that all worked very well. However, the decor was old and tired, the lounge was worn and uncomfortable and the dining chairs were so badly worn, I almost sat through them. This all wasn't so bad when compared to the cleanliness. There were long black hairs on the floor of all the rooms and the towel rails were coming off the walls, the shower screens leaked water everywhere, making the floors very slippery for my elderly mother. It was disturbing to see cracks in the walls and some of the lights didn't work at all.

Next time I am in Brisbane I'll stay elsewhere.

Hi 574kymw, Thank you for your providing your feedback from your recent stay with us though I am disappointed to hear we missed the mark on this occasion. We are currently going through all our apartments and working with our owners to refurbish them up to a modern brand standard and have had some great success to date. We look forward to finalising the remainder in the coming months. I have reported the wall cracks and shower screen to out maintenance department and of course the cleanliness concerns to housekeeping to rectify. I apologise for the issues these have caused. Thank you again and we do hope you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. Kind regards Matthew Knight General Manager

The receptionist was very accommodating due to my late arrival after 11pm but on entering the room I was very disappointed. I always stay at Mantra but this is the first time I have come across a dirty room. The linen was old (holes in the bed linen and towels), dirty marks on the TV which didn’t work, kitchen appeared clean but I dare not put any food on the bench. Rubbish was left in the kitchen garbage; the condition of the saucepans was disgusting. The air con was set on 18 which I couldn’t change so at night I had to add the extra blanket, doubled over. I had to be very careful when showering. The shower is enclosed over the bath with a wide tiled edge and the bath is set lower that the floor level. It would be easy to have a nasty fall.

Check in was efficient and quick. The room on first inspection was clean and fresh. More crockery and serving plates etc. here than the last place we stayed and they boasted 5 stars. Although short on cutlery, only two spoons and two forks included in the mix of assorted knives and kitchen utensils. Bed was comfy, clean and cosy.
We were in a one bedroom unit on the 8th floor. There was a small Study/baby room to the side with open kitchen/lounge/dining area and an all in 1 toilet/shower/bath/laundry room.
Great for couples but probably would not recommend for families with children older than baby or toddler age it could be very squishy and intimate.
Neighbour noise was minimal, with occasional coming and going but not distracting.
Phone wasn't working in our room and we had to call direct to the hotel desk from an outside line to inform them. They said they would get it fixed however was still not working when we checked out 2 days later.
We had issues getting the internet TV working then realising we weren't given a password at check in. Then could not get the mirroring to work from our phones so could not get any Netflix or subscribed channels to work. As we could not ring the desk to get help we gave up on watching TV during our stay.
Restaurants and bars are all within walking distance and there is are great Asian Hot Pot places just next door which were amazing.
Short stroll to the malls during the day made it great for shopping and only a 20 minute walk over the bridge to South Bank for some cultural entertainment and great pubs and grassed places to just relax.
Bathroom/laundry room was adequate although the shower soap dispenser ran out on our last day so luckily we had some supplies of our own. I think it's great that the bathroom has soap dispensers instead of small tubes of shampoo/conditioner/soaps etc. Much less waste. Good one Mantra.
Overall a great affordable place to stay in the city, all amenities catered for, nothing overly flash just good basic accommodation in a great location.

On check in the front desk agent was lovely, the lobby was nice and then we walked into our room... musty smell (guessing trying to cover it up by the over use of air freshener) Was dark inside, only a small window (overlooking the backs of buildings and not letting a lot of light in) and the only window in the bedroom was frosted (do not stay here if you are claustrophobic!

The carpet looked like the room had flooded and they never replaced the carpet, there were horrible stains (see photos) I actually didn't want to take my shoes off and walk around barefoot.

I needed help to get in and out of the shower (and I'm not a senior citizen) as it's such a high step in and then a long step down on the other side.

I must say, great location and within a short walk to everything but if you are going to spend any time in the room, I would recommend booking elsewhere.

Hi Shazzyb83, Thank you for your feedback from your recent stay with us and I'm glad you found the staff and lobby area lovely and welcoming. We have been working closely with our owners over the last 12 months to update the apartments, in particular beds and carpet are our main focus. We have completed 60% of these rooms with the remainder being done in the coming months. I understand this is of little comfort to some however look forward to a completed product. The bath's a lovely and deep, perfect for a relaxing tub however we do understand this can make them difficult to navigate. A re-design of this is in the works however the focus remains on the rest of the apartment. Thank you again and we do hope to welcome you back again soon. Kind regards Matthew Knight General Manager

booked this hotel for my birthday weekend but was disappointed as it had dirty stained carpets and curtain hanging off rail . The room looked old fashioned. Met a few people in the lift too with dogs so thought that was strange for a hotel. Good location but no breakfast provided in hotel need go to a nearby cafe and car parking limited and $35 per night. Stopping booking mantras as all needing a revamp but then thats why they are much cheaper than all the rest.

We stayed at the Mantra on Mary for three nights. I booked it thinking it'd be ideal to be right in town for our holiday but I was mistaken. We are a young family and parking was a nightmare. $35 a day at mantra. I had asked about parking rates and a portacot when making out reservation but no one ever confirmed this with me. My fault for not following up as when we arrived at the property I found out we didn't get a portacot and the parking was the most expensive in the city. Had I known this, I would have stayed elsewhere. Communication from the property was extremely poor. We got a standard confirmation email after making the reservation and never heard anything after that. Normally you receive an email reminder for your reservation with tips on parking, check in etc but we didn't hear anything to the point where I rang reservations the day before our stay to make sure there was a booing for us. This property is perfect for business travellers on foot but I would not recommend it for families or people with cars. Save yourself the hassle and stay elsewhere.

I wouldn't know about your travel costs either, I can say that the one bedroom apartment is roomy and spacious for 3. The apartment is air-conditioned and consists of a small bedroom/study and a main bedroom opposite the lounge room. The bathroom is a good size and the lounge room and kitchen are combined together and you also have a small balcony. You are within walking distance of the Botanical Gardens and Queen Street Mall (CBD), Casino and there is a convenience store around the corner. A gym and pool is also on the premises and I do believe there is a sauna room. I have stayed here twice with and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the apartments.
