My first stay here - I thought I'd try it since I received a very good deal by booking early with a 'red hot' rate - I checked the current rates out of interest, and felt almost guilty for getting such a cheap rate! It is unusual that I can't fault anything, but that was the case staying here - the check-in was efficient and pleasant, and the room was bright, modern, spotlessly clean and spacious - it had one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in too - I slept really deeply. Just as I was thinking they'd missed the usual benefit of a welcome drink voucher (as an Accor Gold member), there was a knock at the door and I was presented with a bottle of wine and a couple of delicious treats to enjoy. Location was great, with plenty of dining options on your doorstep and a short walk to the city, with a number of routes possible including through the beautiful Roma St parklands. I'll be keen to return for my next trip to Brisbane; it will be worth it even if I have to pay a little more next time.

We had an excellent stay at the Johnston hotel recently. I had been quite concerned after reading previous reviews but needn’t have worried. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom corner apartment with wonderful views. Zac from reception was a stand out, recommending local restaurants and making sure we were happy during our stay. The free bus service opposite hotel is great for getting in to city. The pool is magnificent just a pity it isn’t heated but would be great during summer.

The staff was just spectacular, they addressed all concerns and were splendidly helpful. My family and I were in Brisbane and Goldcoast for 3 weeks, and stayed in various accommodations. All were rated 5 stars except The Johnson being rated 4 stars. The service the staff provided was the best amongst all hotels we stayed at.

I don’t know how you feel about over extending your stay in a hotel? Perhaps that’s what we were doing but it just doesn’t add up. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels across the world and this has never happened before. I was staying at the Johnson art series in Brisbane for 4 nights with my son (18yrs) in separate rooms. I left him in Brisbane for the last night to attend an event on the Gold Coast. I had arranged a late checkout for him on the last day and said I’d meet him back at the hotel at 7pm that night so that we could both fly back to Sydney together. He went out for the day and returned to the hotel at 3.30pm. He requested access to the pool area so that he could relax safely while he waited for me to return. The front desk refused to let him through to the pool area making some convoluted excuse that the ‘Duty manager was conducting an interview and that they didn’t have the authority to ‘cut him a key’ for the pool area’ - the staff all carry keys to this area so letting him in would have been easy. So he took his bags and walked out of the hotel to wait in a park for me, for two and a half hours. I personally believe that any hotel worth its salt should have the safety, comfort and wellbeing of it’s guests at the centre of its value system, irrespective of whether the guest has checked out or not. The Johnson clearly does not. It’s such a shame that an otherwise brilliant hotel is let down by the service team training and management.

We chose the hotel for its proximity to Suncorp Stadium, a reasonable 20 min walk. The hotel was modern, staff very attentive and the pool deck appreciated by our boys. There are many local options for breakfast and would recommend this hotel to any visiting sports fans. It might even be a lucky hotel as our team won !!

We stayed in a twin room with two adults and too children and loved the room size. The parking was quite expensive at $30 per night, and had it been a little cheaper we would have considered upgrading to a 2 bedroom room. The location is not that close to town, however the distance is walkable - we walked there, which is downhill, and caught the free loop bus back. We didn’t use the kitchenette as there was only one saucepan. We would happily stay again.

I spent 2 nights here on a work trip and overall it wasn't too bad. The rooms are large and the beds comfortable and there is a small kitchenette that is handy. The gym and swimming pool are great, too. There don't seem to be too many staff around, but the hotel itself wasn't too busy. The Saturday night experience wasn't good, however, as a lot of guests were congregating in the hallways outside the rooms, making noise all night, yelling, and knocking on doors, etc - it clearly seems to be a weekend party hotel so it would be best to avoid it on weekends (unless you are looking to party all night!).

The hotel is new, has a great location, and the price is reasonable. The rooms are spacious, modern and have a little kitchenette. The restaurant looks great but was closed. Hopefully, it opens soon so hotel stayers can enjoy breakfast at the same place.
