The Fullerton Hotel Sydney garners praise for its prime location in the CBD, making it a hit with those looking to explore the city's offerings. While opinions on the hotel's value and atmosphere are split—with some guests finding the services overpriced and the decor dated—others appreciate the heritage charm, spacious rooms, and cleanliness. The amenities often receive compliments, though noise levels and occasional lapses in service quality are points of contention for some travelers.

friendly staffs, impressive deco and design inside. elegant and classic architect takes me to the glorious bygone era, and dinning in the Palace for breakfast under the blue sky over the glass ceiling felt like sitting inside Zeppeline. the room was spacious enough with warm welcoming deco and ambience, loved separate toilet, shower and bath! room was well equiped with iron, board, safe, few shallow drawers & cupboard, hangers, kettles, high quality beverages, bathrobes, slippers hangers, toiletries, hair dryers, desk and layback sofa with foot stool, big screen TV and bar fridge. breakfast from the Palace restaurant serves continental and cooked dishes but limited variety and no Asian cuisines(congee or noodle soup). highly recommend for any special events or getaway relaxation.

Hotel is located at a very convenient location, with walking distance to nearest light rail stop (Wynyard) and popular shopping places like QVB/Town Hall etc. However, the rooms are dated and will do well with a refurbishment as alot of the walls/floor tiles are chipped or stained. Some of the toilet fixtures appear to be loose fitting also.

Service staff are generally polite and responsive, however housekeeping staff are pretty inconsistent with different standards of make up room shown on some days during our stay.

It would be also nice if the hotel has their own pool as well! The gym is adequate and well maintained, with sufficient equipment for a decent workout.

We had such a terrible experience. We stayed in the heritage (older) side of the hotel and our room and the hallway was full of mosquitos (I pointed out 10 mosquitos to house keeping). We placed numerous calls to reception asking for the hallway and room to be sprayed but this did not happen until the 6th or 7th phone call over two days. I would be very worried and concerned staying here with children or babies as we were both bitten overnight and woken constantly with buzzing mosquitos around our faces. After requesting the manger the following day we were moved rooms. House keeping told us the heritage rooms are full of mosquitos and it’s an ongoing problem. We had many issues ordering room service as most items were not available and I was phoned back 3x times to say the food wasn’t available. The Fullerton experience was not as expected. I would recommend another hotel in the city rather than this one. This hotel is more like Faulty Towers with terrible customer service and a serious mosquito problem!

The Fullerton Hotel Singapore was so good that I found out that it was also in Sydney this time, and decided to stay for four nights based on its good location and appearance and atmosphere.
I could see the clock tower from my room, but it didn't have to be seen diagonally ... Still, this is because the interior of the hotel is nice.

The unfortunate thing is that they are old. The water area is particularly problematic.
The sink didn't drain water from the beginning, so I took it off myself and devised it. It was cleaned every day, but it varied from day to day. I wet my bathrobe on the first day (again, due to problems with collecting water in the tub), so I left it with a bath towel to see if I could replace it, but it was only removed and remained unreplenished the next day. The slippers were also wet and crumbly, so I wanted to have a new one prepared based on the condition.

Plumbing. The notice that hot water could not be used during the day was issued by paper the night before. I thought it was no problem because it was the time of day when I was out, but I remember that I was worse than before when I was filling the tub that night, black grime came out, clean water was not coming out easily, and I struggled to keep the water around until the last night.

There was no particular sense of hospitality from the staff, but it was a good time for us to have a little fun and talk with them, as all the staff were invited to us only at breakfast. It was good to see a wide variety.

From the airport, the Airport Link is the smoothest way to get off at Wynyard Station.
I used to use light rail only for sightseeing, but it was also convenient near the station. The location is really perfect.
☆ I made it three, but it was somewhat dry because I had high expectations because it inevitably compared with The Fullerton Hotel Singapore.

I stayed for 7 nights in this splendid hotel during New Year's week. Upon arrival in the room we found a welcome card and a small tray with assorted chocolates, much appreciated. Our room was a premium one with a fantastic view of Martin Place and its spectacular Christmas tree, very spacious, quiet and perfectly clean, every morning they left us 3 bottles of water. The location was enviable, we could practically walk almost everywhere. The hotel is very beautiful and the staff was the best we have ever found in our travels, splendid... we felt pampered. On the last day on our return we found another greeting card with an excellent bottle of New Zealand red wine. I wholeheartedly recommend this property to everyone, I hope to return soon.

Several mishaps happened during our stay. On the first night, we discovered that the shower head in our room wasn’t working. They sent a repair man up and he failed to fix it, while leaving dirty muddy trails all over the bathroom floor as he refused to take off his shoes. He proceeded to clean the floor simply by wiping it with a dry cloth, and did not bother mopping it with any cleaning detergent. The repairman further told us that we couldn’t change our room as it was too late in the evening and a non-working shower head is a “small problem”. I’m not sure how or why he thought that not having a functioning shower is a small problem. People do need to take showers, you know.

A couple days later, when we tried to shower in the late morning, we found that there was no hot water. Apparently the hotel had decided to service the hot water system without informing guests that water wouldn’t be available for 6 straight hours that day. That is not at all acceptable? Once again, it’s not an unreasonable request to expect a hotel we’re staying at to have hot water for showers.

The icing on the cake came when we were rudely awakened by incessant knocks around 10am a few days later, by hotel staff insisting that they needed to enter the room to “install something”. First of all, this is a hotel. People are here for vacation. It’s not okay to go around waking guests up with NO prior warning. The hotel could’ve informed us in advance that they needed to make installations in the room, instead of rudely waking guests up unexpectedly.

Overall, while our stay wasn’t all bad, there were definitely glaring issues that one would not expect to have to deal with when staying at a 5-star hotel chain like Fullerton. We were honestly surprised and quite appalled at the end of the stay.

We spent 2 nights in room 2714 in a tower king superior room. Everything about the room could not be faulted, which is a credit to the maintenance and guest service staff. The king beds and pillows gave us a peaceful sleep and the aircon had no rattling or noises, especially as they were working overtime with Sydney experiencing hot humid weather.
We had breakfast included on level 1 in The Place and the choice of hot and cold items was more than adequate. Down on level one to relax and catch up with reading and friends whilst being surrounded by the delight of the old GPO building was so enjoyable. Thank you Fullerton, we shall return again.

We chose this hotel with the expectation of a memorable experience for our honey moon in Sydney. The experience til now ruins it.

In general the hotel is conveniently located in CBD central area and it is well maintained considering the age of the building. But I have to complain for the followings:

1. They do not have the service capacity during holiday seasons. The breakfast restaurant has a long waiting queue and the front desk service was unhelpful and rude. If as you said we were waiting for a long to get seated is due to the unexpected number of hotel guests, simply DO NOT overestimate your service capacity since you mentioned it’s been like this for almost a week and DO NOT reply in a way it’s our problem.

2. We were clearly not going to wait for an extend period of time so we decided to have breakfast outside and refund the breakfast. The front desk asked us to go the reception. I talked to the receptionist and she offered to send breakfast boxes in the next two days at 8am during our stay.

3. This morning there’s no breakfast box at 8 am. I just phoned the service hotline and a lady said having breakfast sent to rooms is considered as in room dinning and this was not included in our room price, we could go downstairs to have breakfast as it’s not overcrowded in the restaurant. But EXCUSE ME? Where is the communication ? And I am perfectly sure it is not my “confusion with the receptionist “ as she said.

4. The lady passed the issue to a gentleman and he called back. After reiterating the whole story he replied in a manner not polite (though he apologised for the inconvenience) and not compassionate. At this point we were mentally prepared to go downstairs for breakfast as the lady suggested (“it’s not crowded now”).

5. Later another lady called stating we could wait in the room for another 20 minutes and they would send the breakfast boxes. I told her just now her colleague told me to go downstairs and we were prepared to do so. I asked her to double check if the restaurant was getting crowded and let me know. She then replied and said it’s overcrowded…

6. At around 9:10 we received the breakfast boxes.

I stayed 8 nights at the Fullerton Hotel as part of an interstate trip to celebrate my birthday. Overall we had a fantastic stay, and I’d happily stay again but in a room in the tower second time around.

I found the hotel itself to be warm, welcoming and friendly, clean and with a great atmosphere. We stayed the first few nights in a heritage room on level 3, before needing to transfer to level 1 for a second booking. The rooms themselves are heritage because they’re part of the original GPO building, so they’re on the older side but spacious and the beds are really comfortable. The problem with the level 1 rooms is that they’re far too close to the rest of the hotel (restaurant, bar, atrium area) and the huge lack of proper lightproofing in our room meant I slept pretty badly the entire time - the blockout curtains in the bedroom are useless when a flimsy paper curtain in the bathroom sends all the bright hotel lights straight into the room via the glass doors. There’s also a lack of sufficient soundproofing, and you hear the noise from the hotel throughout the night (music, piano, guests in the bar etc). I would not stay on level 1 again. If you’re staying in a heritage room and placed on the first floor, request to be moved to the third floor - better yet, book a room in the tower and avoid altogether.

The breakfast buffet at The Place is 100% worth it and in my view exceptional for both selection and service. I loved it. As a big fruit eater I especially appreciated the high quality of the fruit, along with healthy options such as yoghurt and muesli pots. You can also get eggs made to order, along with surprisingly excellent coffee. The staff here are friendly and attentive and always happy to help, and really made the breakfast experience a joy each day. Others have noted the issues getting a table later in the morning at peak times and I definitely observed this, but got around it by eating early. Don’t go after 8:00am or it is pretty chaotic in terms of the wait for a table and the number of people. Eating earlier means a relaxed and quieter breakfast experience, as I discovered.

The staff here are incredibly accommodating and helpful and I appreciated their kindness during my stay - Po at The Place, Emma and August on reception and Eduardo on concierge are a real credit to the hotel. The service was outstanding.

Overall despite the room issues I really enjoyed my stay and I’ll likely return to the Fullerton when next in Sydney.

Hi, I know I am probably to late. However, AUTHENTIC Lebanese is hands down my favourite food. My best friend is Lebanese so my ‘bar’ is set high. If you go to Little Hunter Street, Sydney there is an amazing Lebanese Restaurant called Zafffi. I am Vegetarian and have many dietary (not through choice) restrictions. Let them know ahead of time and you will go all out to accommodate you. The other Lebanese I recommend is in Surry Hills. Cheers, Lynda-Jane
