A TRULY REIMAGINED HOSTEL EXPERIENCE IN OUR HARBOUR CITY At Pacific House Hostel, we believe that luxury and affordability are compatible, that the historical and contemporary are excellent bedfellows. We believe that a traveler needs to feel secure, at ease, inspired and instantly at home to have the best possible experience. With all this in mind, we set out to create the new frontier of hostel, for a new era of travel. Situated in an unparalleled inner city location and housed in an iconic heritage-listed building dating back to 1892, Pacific House Hostel has a rich mixed history as a temperance hotel, city hospital and finally hostel accommodation. Its unique situation grants our guests unfettered access to Sydney’s cultural life, with the city, art galleries and nightlife all within easy walking distance. Celebrated Australian designer Tamsin Johnson has overseen a top-to-bottom refresh of the hostel’s interiors, in a stylish update that remains sensitive to the building’s origins. Unwind amidst a palette of blues, greens and greys, luxuriate in premium bedding, enjoy the whimsical mural artwork of Tabitha Hope and forge connections that last a lifetime in thoughtfully considered communal spaces. Brimming with amenity and details to suit the modern traveller, Pacific House Hostel is a truly reimagined hostel experience in our harbour city, and will appeal to urban dwellers, intrepid explorers, designphiles and worldly travellers alike.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Pacific House Hostel is the best in Sydney. The staff is amazing and always prone to help you. Moreover, breakfast is included and with delicious food. Rating 10 out of 10, probably one of the best hostel i’ve been so far in Australia.
as a solo female traveler I would recommend 100%

I had the best time in the pacific house hostel. The place does not even look like a hostel but a boutique hotel. Rooms are quite big and you can get your own privacy by having the bed curtains closed. Furniture is just beautiful. Free breakfast is always great. I will come back

I stayed here a few years ago, before the renovations were completed. What a difference! The building is so conveniently located, and the renovations have made it such a bright and cheerful place. Not to mention the staff, all very helpful!

I stayed in the dorm as a solo mature traveller and was welcomed and had some great conversations with my roomies. The bunks are cosy but extremely comfortable and I really valued the privacy curtains as I went to bed quite a bit earlier than my roomies, but that wasn't a problem for any of us. The airconditioning was so quiet, you wouldn't even know it was on until you left the room.

Pro tip for the door locks: wake it up by touching the "X" before you dial in the code you're given at check in. Otherwise it may not recognise the first digit and the lock won't open.

A clean, bright and well kept hostel. We opted for the private room, which felt more like a hotel.Towels were included which was nice. General areas (bathrooms) well kept and the free breakfast was great. Hostel was in a central location, you were able to walk to main attractions.

This is one of the most luxurious hostels you could stay in. It is beautifully designed, but in the dormitories they will never look like the photos unless you are the only one in there (or the other people staying in there are really tidy with their possessions!). This is the definition of the meme: expectation vs reality.

The private room is incredible, it felt like a hotel room - just without an ensuite.

Breakfast was fine, but disappointing. Beggars can't be choosers; but, why was there no fruit? Your options were tea and coffee, toast and cereal - that was about it.

That staff were competent and helpful regarding matters of admin, but not as friendly and chatty as other hostels I have stayed in.

Cleaning could be improved. Down the side of my dorm bed there were used Cotton Buds, tissues, and other detritus which was not pleasant when checking nothing had fallen down the side of my bed before checking out.

The Goki experience was unique and modern, somewhat of a fan of that over keycards or keys.

Overall pretty good, but don't expect the most social experience - if you are a solo traveller after making friends, there are better hostels I would recommend over this one. If you are travelling as a couple or with friends, this would be great.

The hostel was clean and good location. The dorm was good snd there was good air condition. Toilets and showers were also very good and clean. In the dorm was curtains which gave privates. Also, there was breakfast every morning. That was an amazing thing. Staff was very kind and helpful.

The hostel is lovely and clean. The rooms are really big and spacious and each has a light and plug socket. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and were able to help with all questions I had and were able to advise me on what to do in the area.

Stayed with my mum for 2 nights in March in a private room.

Pros
- location excellent for CBD, Circular Quay and Botanic Gardens
- staff helpful and friendly
- spacious and clean room

Cons
- not enough bathrooms and showers on floor 3, often had to try other floors.
- bathrooms cleaned and shut at odd times (usually when everyone getting ready to go out for the day), causing more congestion
- breakfast ok (cereals and bread, no fruit)
- toilets need air fresheners

Overall, great location and enjoyable stay. Probably better for younger travellers as friendly atmosphere and lots of arranged activities.
