Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A beautiful location and fabulous venue. The kitchen was amazing, the beds comfortable and clean. Great wheel chair access as well. Heaps of parking space and absolutely gorgeous inside and out. Would defiantly stay again.

This is the second time staying at The Old Church. Fantastic accommodation, clean, large, a real entertainers kitchen! Location is great with the best care nearby (Harvest) and Byron Bay just a small drive away. We will definitely be staying here again in the future. Nicky was great to deal with!

We hired this wonderful converted church whilst attending a wedding. It was an absolute pleasure dealing with the owner and a beautiful historical home that was able to cater for a very large family..

This gorgeous church has been beautifully maintained and I could tell a lot of love goes into making it a comfortable and relaxing place to stay. The location is perfect, it feels secluded but is a really short stroll to a gorgeous cafe and antiques store. I'll definitely be back.

As soon as our son and future daughter-in-law booked their reception at the Harvest Cafe at Newrybar I looked for somewhere suitable for us to stay for a week around the wedding date. We had very specific requirements - a ground floor bedroom for 90 year old Nana who can't climb steps now, a separate wing for the groom and his mates to stay for two nights before the wedding, plenty of space so we could spread out and enjoy a little solitude when necessary, a high level of comfort and beauty without having to worry about tizzy white furnishings. I couldn't believe my luck when I found The Old Church on the internet, just around the corner from the Harvest Cafe. A quick call to the owner, Kylie, confirmed that this was the ideal place for us.
Everything we could possibly want was provided, and more. The kitchen was so well equipped that providing dinner for 12 fly-ins from Sydney on the Friday evening was almost effortless. There was liquid soap at every tap, tissues provided on the telephone table, lots of teatowels and plenty of bath towels. Table tennis was a great hit with the boys.
Linelle the caretaker was unobtrusively on hand when needed and immediately came to the rescue when we blew a fuse (something that always happens after dark!). A little bantam chicken became our pet ensuring we didn't miss our dog too much - I think it lived next door. The 'ecclesiastical architecture' was comforting - we have always wanted to live in a converted church.
We have very happy memories of our stay at Newrybar in The Old Church.

we stayed here for 2 nights - all 9 of us. It was lovely accommodation, a great setting and very close to Byron Bay. The facilities were just excellent and we cannot recommend it enough, Stylish, quirky and comfortable.

I needed a large place in Byron Bay to accomodate a large family due to my son getting married I hired the old church for 4 days and found it to be excellent. A large open plan living area, huge kitchen, and when all the excitment was over a perfect place to relax. My family and I visit Byron Bay offten and would stay at the old church again.

I'm a local to the area and booked the Old Church for a girlfriend's 45th birthday. In the end there were only 8 of us instead of the intended 12 but that didnt' stop us from having the time of our life. Such a cool venue, we loved dining around the big long table in the main room, the spa was so divine in the chilly night air, more than enough room for everyone to sleep comfortably and the huge well stocked kitchen was a pleasure to cook in, though we made sure we didn't spend too much time in there working! We visited Harvest, the Farm and Corner Kitchen for meals and did a spot of shopping at my local shop, the Newrybar Merchants. All in all the most wonderful weekend in a very long time for all of us!

I recently stayed at this lovely and Unique place. To say it is superb is an understatement. Very impressed with the layout, the furnishings, awesome and VERY well equipped kitchen. All round, it has everything one needs, and more. An excellent choice for those with a larger group as well. A handy short stroll to a funky coffee shop, close to the highway yet worlds apart. And a cool Macadamia Farm behind. Can speak highly enough of this place and we will be returning soon.

I first stayed at The Old Church a few years ago with a couple of friends and we had such a wonderful time, we are going back!

It's such a beautiful and unique location and perfect for a group of friends to gather and enjoy each others company. It's also big enough to not get in each others way and it's easy to find a nice quiet spot to chill. The facilities are excellent, clean and well maintained.

It's only a short walk to some places to eat and drink coffee or browse through some antiques plus it's only a short drive to the beautiful beaches around Byron Bay.

I can't wait to get back for a few days of R&R in early September!
