Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a return visit for us, having stayed pre Covid in January 2020. It has obviously changed a great deal and there are areas that could benefit from a refresh/update, but this is out weighed by the helpfulness of the staff. They are obviously in need of more staff especially in the restaurant area when dealing with several conference delegations dining at once, but the quality of food and hard working staff make up for any deficiencies

Hotel needs some improvements in many areas. Beds, Internet, showers are very good. Breakfast is heavily overpriced. Every decent coffee is extra. The regular breakfast Coffee can bring you back from the dead, but as soon as you live again, you want something good: terrible black whatever.

Waipuna Hotel hosted an annual conference for our group. All the staff exuded calm and were helpful (especially the technology technician). My fifth-floor room was large, clean and comfortable. The food provided in the restaurant in the evenings and catered for conference lunches was healthy and delicious. Thank you, Waipuna!

Nice and spacious Hotel. It’s big and airy and opens out onto the Panmure Lagoon. Great to sit back and relax look out over the water, easy walk around the lagoon. Fantastic value buffet dinner, very fresh foods, great selection of seafood, salad, roasts, chowder. The beds are comfortable - firm but cosy. Plenty of easy complementary parking. I guess it’s because it’s outside the CBD that they have so much more space, you don’t feel cramped in. Just around the corner from big shopping centre and handy to the motorway.

Excellent value for the money. Spacious, nicely furnished. Plenty of parking. Nice walk adjacent though a path down to lagoon walk would have been great. Easy to find from motorway and handy to Sylvia park. We didn't try any of the restaurant offering.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the start of our road trip and 2 nights at the end so I have a comparison for consistency. Reception - friendly first stay, a bit grumpy on the second. There was induction to the hotel both times ie you can breakfast in the restaurant between these hours etc etc. I actually had to call through to reception to find out about breakfast as there was no info about it in any hotel info or website. Room - first stay was on the 3rd floor and apparently we were upgraded. 2nd stay was ground floor but probably in the exact same position as the first stay. The rooms were exactly the same, except you could argue that the 3rd floor had an elevated view of the lake - I preferred the ground floor as it had a door which opened out into a courtyard overlooking the lake. The rooms are large and spacious - we had 2 double beds, a huge space for putting our extra large suitcase, a lounge chair and a table and still room to comfortably move around. The bathrooms had large shower, big vanity and a bath! The room size is the real feature of this hotel! The rooms seem to have some form of renovation so are modern and clean. Beds are comfortable but aircon/heating is a bit hit and miss so expect to spend some time trying to figure it out.. Facilities - decent hotel gym, small pool and large spa. It’s all a bit outdated but still tidy enough. Parking is free and plenty of it. Location - great if you want to be out of the city. Sylvia Park shopping centre is a 5min drive or 10pm walk with lots of places to eat and some of the best shopping in Auckland. You can walk along the lake and on Sundays there is a mini train you can ride ($2) and RC boats ($3) to play with - our 4 year old loved this! And finally…Waipuna is cheap compared to the city hotels! I think I have found my new go to Auckland hotel!

Apartment was clean with all we needed for our stay. We were here to go to a NZ Warriors game and chose this Hotel because of how close it is to the Stadium. Before heading out we had a few drinks at the Bar where a lovely young lady by the name of Sharn or Shay looked after us. She provided excellent customer service skills. We will definitely be coming back again

Have used the Waipuna for a number of years now, and always very happy with service etc. However over the weekend we celebrated my parents 80th & 85th birthdays. We were absolutely impressed with the wonderful service at all levels. From the initial booking at restaurant with Trupti who catered to our every need from beginning to end. On the night Swanand and his team were exceptional nothing was too much, they looked after our 100 guests with professionalism and ease, which took the stress away from my family and I. The food was divine, our guests commented on how wonderful the Chefs Jack & Shivan and team served up beautiful fresh tasty food, there was nothing out of place, every dish was enjoyed. Shelley, Shabnam, Betty and team at front of house did not fail as per usual, all our rooms were ready on check-in for the 13 rooms we had booked. We loved it so much have booked another family event at the end of the month. To Daron Gray the hotel G.M all your staff mentioned are an absolute true asset to your wonderful establishment, hence why we come back time and time again!! Well Done Waipuna

Let me begin with the location, it was a 20min shuttle from the airport. I was with a group of people so we shared the cost, about $15 each way. Our check-in was easy. Our room was one of the most spacious I have been in while in NZ and the bed was extremely comfortable. It was very easy to get around and beautiful waterfront views. Lots of decent seating with folding table which made it easy for note taking. Lots of nice spaces for break out sessions. The food served during our conference was fantastic. The staff were friendly and accomodating as best they could. However; most people had to stand and eat, or sit on wet benches outside at lunch, there was an extremely long wait for cocktails in the evening, if you were willing to wait the avg. 40min to get one. One person from each of our six pre-paid rooms, still had to give a credit card with $100 charged up front and returned at checkout. Eight people from our team walked to Sylvia Park for a bit of shopping (less than 15min walk) - iffy neighbourhood but the mall had interesting shops. All in all, it was a decent place to stay for a conference.
